2023.06.04 08:35 Frenzyplants Premium economy vs economy EWR-HND roundtrip worth it?
Hey guys, I was planning on traveling to Tokyo from NYC on Oct 11-26th and wanted to know if upgrading to the premium economy ($2178) was worth it from the regular economy ($1299). It's a 14 hr flight and I'm just wondering whether the extra money is worth the gained comfort, because that $950 feels like it could go a long way in Tokyo.

2023.06.04 08:30 Ali_Muhammad_Mallah Reflections of Paradise: A Detailed Description of Azad-Kashmir's Lakes
| https://preview.redd.it/ehuat2uj1y3b1.jpg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dd3b65a3d5feecc5909241af3426f4881ad7be40 A complete description of all the Lakes of Azad-Kashmir. 1. Rati Gali Lake 2. Rati Gali Small 3. Hans Raj Lake 4. Kala Sar Lake 5. Ghatian Lake 6. Saral Lake 7. Moon Lake 8. Ram Chakor Lake 9. Mulanwali Lake 10. Butkanali Lake 11. Shounter Lake 12. Chitta Katha Lake 13. Chitta Katha 2 14. Banjusa Lake 15. Baghsar Lake 16. Subri / Langarpura Lake 17. Zalzal Lake 18. Patlian Lake 19. Mai Narada Lake 20. Noori Lake 21. Khargam Lake 22. Duck Lake 1. Rati Gali Lake First of all, remove the confusion of the name Rati Gali. Until 2010, the local name of Rati Gali was Darian Saryan Sar. Sar(sar) is locally referred to as a Lake or a natural body of water. Officially in 2010 and a local Sufi saint, Mian Barkatullah Sarkar, whose Astana is known as Barkatiya. Due to the recognition and respect of his religious services, the Lake and the road leading to it were named after him and the Lake was named Rati Gali Barkatiya Lake, which also has a formal government notification. Rati Gali Lake is an alpine glacial Lake located in the Neelum Valley, meaning its source of water is the glaciers in the area. This Lake is accessible from Duariyan on Wadi Neelam Road at a distance of about 75 km from the southern side of Muzaffarabad. Which leads to the base camp after a 16 km jeep track from Dwarian. The Lake can be reached after an hour-easy trek from the base camp. This Lake is located at an altitude of 12130 feet or 3700 meters above sea level. It is a popular tourist spot in the area where all the facilities are available. There is a large camping site at the base camp where tents and food, electricity, and Wi-Fi are available at affordable prices and for horse riding enthusiasts there is a horse-riding facility to reach the Lake. Remember that this Lake is the biggest Lake in the region. Around which there are twenty-six other small and big Lakes. Also, four waterfalls are formed from the water of this Lake. 2. Rati Gali Small This Lake is called Saryan Sir, at a walking distance of 10-15 minutes from Rati Gali Base Camp. There are many water reservoirs/reservoirs in this place which are called Sar in the local language. Accordingly, this place is called Saryan Sar. The place has a waterfall and local dhoks and dhares where locals stay during summer. 3. Hans Raj Lake This Lake is also located in the Neelum Valley of Azad Kashmir. Originally, the local name of this Lake was Rata Sar and the reason for its fame is the red-colored mountains around it. Also, there is Lal Buti peak in this area which has been used in geographical surveys during British rule. There are three La Buti Peaks in this area, one is at Rati Gali, the second is at Sargan and the third is at Keil. The reason for the name Hans Raj is the fame of Pakistan's greatest travel writer and tourist Sir Mustansar Hussain Tarar, when he came to this Lake, he described the pieces of floating glacier in it as similar to the floating Hans Raj. And it was written by Hans Raj and this Lake became famous as Hans Raj Lake since then this Lake is called Hans Raj Lake. Rati Gili Lake is located at a distance of about one and a half to two hours from the base camp, between Rati Gili and Noori Top, on the Rati Gili Pass at an altitude of about 3900 meters. On the other hand, the famous Dudipat Sar of Kaghan Valley can also be tracked through Saral Lake. In winter, this Lake is also covered with snow like other Lakes of Neelum Valley. 4. Kala Sar Lake There are three Lakes in the Neelum Valley known as Kala Sar 1, Kala Sar 2, and Kala Sar 3. Kala Sar 1 is an hour's walk from Hansraj Lake, Kala Sar 2 is another hour's trek, and Kala Sar 3 has to trek a little higher. You can also get a view of Ghatian Lake from Kala Sir 3 provided you take the guidance of a local guide. For the night you will have to come back to Rati Gali base camp or private camping but even for that local guides can guide you better. 5. Ghatian Lake Rati Gali is located at a distance of about four hours from the base camp. This track goes from Rati Gali to Ghatian Lake via Hans Raj / Kala Sar Lake. That is, with proper planning and strategy, these three Lakes can be easily tackled in a single tour. You can easily get a view of Ghatian Lake from Kala Sar, while you can also get a view of Ghatian and Nanga Parbat from the top of the mountain behind Rati Gali. While at the end of Noori Top, trek along the bridge or canal coming from Sharda or Sargan, that route will take you to Ghatian Lake after four to five hours of trek. There are also three Lakes named Ghatian. Which are identified as Ghatian 1, 2, 3. For 1, and 2, the view is clear, while for the third, one has to hike up to some height. Its local name is Donga Sir or Donga Nad. 6. Saral Lake This Lake is also a part of Neelum Valley which is 13600 feet or 4100 meters above sea level. Several routes are used to reach here. The first route leads to Basil and Dudipat Sir and from there to Saral. This route is less used and most of those coming from this route return from Saral View Point. Because of that, you have to descend once and then go uphill to reach the Lake. The second route comes from Jalkhed, Noori Top via Mian Sahib Road to Saral, where it joins the Dudipat head track. The third route is on Noori Top with a stream coming from the front on the Kashmir side, horses are also available for this and the trek is also done on foot. The fourth route follows Gumot Nala and it will take you to Saral Lake. Gumot Nala is mainly coming from Saral. 7. Moon Lake The route to Moon Lake also goes through Saral Lake. There is a trek to the left of Saral which can be done in one day along with Saral. Do it with a local guide. You can also reach here from the back side of Gumot and Jabba. 8. Ram Chakor / Char wali Lake This Lake is also located in Saral Valley at a distance of four to five hours. In 2019, a team of local guides discovered five Lake tracks, this Lake being one of them. Due to the abundance of Ram Chakor (bird), it is also called Ram Chakor Lake while the local name is Phirardnad. Phirar is also called Chakor in the local language. It can also be reached here via Gumot, Jabba Back, and Sargan. 9. Mulanwali Lake Mulan Wali Lake, also called Mulan Wali Nad, is also located near Moon Lake and Ram Chakor Lake. Note: Moon Lake, Ram Chakor Lake, and Mulanwali Lake can also be done together which will include a night camp and can be easily done with a local guide to avoid any trouble. 10. Butkanali Lake After the vehicle journey from Jagran to Shall, a 7–8-hour walking trek rises above a place called Dhok Kundi and leads to Dhok but Kunali, from where the path to Mulanwali Lake becomes a walking track of about one and a half kilometers. 11. Shounter Lake This Lake is located in Shounter Valley Neelam Azad Kashmir, this Lake is located at an altitude of 3100 meters or 10200 feet above sea level. This Lake is located at the foot of the snow-capped mountains and the source of the waters of this Lake is also the glaciers between these mountains. This Lake is also called Spoon Lake, the reason for the name is its spoon-like shape, and it can be easily reached by jeep from Keel. There is this Lake along with Shounter waterfall where the road ends. It is also locally called Bitar Lake. 12. Chitta Katha Lake This Lake is also located in Shounter Valley. Located at an altitude of 13500 feet or 4100 meters, this is a beautiful Lake, the approach to which is fascinating as well as difficult. From the base camp, two stops named Dick One and Two add to its charm. A 20 km jeep trek from Kiel takes you to a village called Huz Neelam, its base camp, which used to be the base camp of Chitta Katha. After which a 5 km but steep uphill path leads to this Lake. Generally, the locals can come and go in ten to twelve hours, while the tourists also spend twelve hours one way. It is better to do from Base Camp to Dak 2 in one day, next day go from Dak 2 to Lake and return according to your convenience and time. One of the reasons for the fame of Chitta Katha Sar is the captivating view of Hari Parbat. Moreover, no one has been able to summit this peak till now. It is the third highest peak in the region, first being Sirwali, second being Toshira Wang, the range, and third being Hari Parbat. There is also a Lake named Chitta Katha 2 in the valley below. Further, Linda Sir 1,2 at a distance of one to two hours, Panj Khatian, and some lesser-known unnamed Lakes are also present in this area. 13. Chitta Katha 2 Just below Hari Parbat, a one to one and a half hour walk to the left leads to Chitta Katha 2. 14. Banjusa Lake Banjusa Lake is an artificial Lake located in the Poonch district at a distance of 18 km from Rawalakot. It is a popular tourist destination and is easily accessible to every tourist. It is located in a dense forest. There are also several rest houses. Kilometer long, kilometer wide, and 52 meters deep, this Lake is located at an altitude of 1981 meters or 6499 feet. 15. Baghsar Lake The Lake is located near Baghsar Fort near the Line of Control in Wadi Samahni, Bhimber. This fort has been under the rule of the Mughals and has a wonderful historical status. This Lake is 975 meters above sea level and has a length of about half a kilometer. This Lake is famous for its winter migratory birds and its lotus flowers. Another reason for the fame of this Lake is that its shape is somewhat similar to the map of Pakistan. This area is full of cherry trees and blooming water lilies. 16. Subri Lake / Langarpura Lake Subri Lake or Langarpura Lake is located at a distance of about 10 km in the southeast direction of Muzaffarabad. This Lake is located at the exact place where the river Jhelum widens. The Lake is easily accessible via the Muzaffarabad-Chakothi Road. 17. Lake Zalzal This Lake came into being as a result of the earthquake of 8 October 2005 when two mountains merged and four villages of Bhatsher, Lodhi Abad, Kurla, and Padr were obliterated and the natural passage of water was blocked. This Lake is located between Chikar and Bani Hafiz. The Lake is 3.5 km long, and 350 feet deep. It is located at an altitude of 1828 meters above sea level. The Lake can be easily visited on the way to Ganga Choti / Sidhan Gully or while staying at Chikar Guest House. There is also a Rest House of the Tourism Department near this Lake. 18. Patlian Lake The path of this Lake goes through Luvat Nallah. You can reach here after a 3-hour jeep drive and a half-an-hour trek from Dwarian. There are three, or four big and small Lakes and innumerable waterfalls in its vicinity, among which Jhag Chamber and Kunali Waterfalls are famous. At a distance of one and a half hours from Main Patlian Lake, a Lake is also named Patlian Two. 19. Mai Narada Lake This Lake is a sacred place for Hindus and is their place of worship. This Lake can be reached after a two-to-three-day trek from Sharda. This Lake is located at an altitude of about 14000 feet. 20. Noori Lake This Lake is located on Noori Top and its sign is that there is a huge waterfall in front of it. 21. Khargam Lake This Lake is located behind Rati Gali. Khargam Lake is above the crack that is visible in the mountain behind Rati Gali. It is a relatively difficult and rugged rocky trail suitable only for professional trekkers and hikers. 22. Dick Lake Dick Lake trek starts from Janui. Similar to the Chitta Katha Lake trek, this trek is about 8-9 hours of walking on one side. Take camping equipment with you. There are no campsites in this area. Apart from this, the Lakes of Gujarnad and Shakargarh are still unexplored. There are also 11 Lakes in Gal Valley which flow into Neelum Valley. Apart from this, the beautiful areas of Sunder Nikka, Hola Back and Kala Jinder also have many Lakes and waterfalls. July to October is the season to visit these Lakes, after which more or less the majority of the areas are covered with snow. Their length, width, or depth has not yet been measured by any authentic means, the founders of most glacial Lakes are more or less frequent. Don't risk swimming in all these Lakes. Also, for camping it is necessary to have proper guidance and a local guide. Red candlesticks were used for geographical surveying during the British rule, traces of which still remain. In the area, there are three Lal Buti Peaks in Rati Gali, Sargan, and Keel area, besides Dak Bangla Rati Gali Mohri and Gora Cemetery Rati Gali which were the residence and burial grounds of British soldiers/officers during that time. Kishan Ghati Cave located in Sharda is said to be around 5000 years old and was used as a place of worship for Buddhists and Hindus. There are some new discoveries in these Lakes or regular treks up to them are chosen. Read Also: - What would happen if oxygen disappears from the earth for 5 seconds?

2023.06.04 08:29 rennradrobo Is it reasonable to make a Paragliding license in northern Germany?
Hey people
Currently I live in Zürich but I’ll be moving to Hamburg in a few weeks. Yesterday I had my first tandem flight and now I am so hooked, that I spent the rest of the day to look up flyling schools and how the system works.
I feel so stupid for not have gone flying earlier. I was in Switzerland for two years… 🤌🏼
I read lots of things. 1. if there is an active community it’ll help to find spots and exercise. Anyone knows, if there is a community in Hamburg? 2. one user said, if you are so far away from a proper flying place it makes no sense since you always restart when you only fly on vacation … it’s dangerous and you will never be good…
Now I’m a little lost. The feeling I had flying was so great. It’s almost like a missing part of me showed itself. But I also get it. If you have no place to fly. Why taking all the classes and extra vacations for that.
There’s no real question at the end of the post. Maybe you can just tell me your opinion about living in no mountain region and being a paraglider :)

2023.06.04 08:25 banhminion Negatives to transferring down?
Let’s say one were to transfer but it’s a downgrade to a lower ranked school? From T1 to T3. For personal reasons.
My problems at the current school aren’t insurmountable, and in fact I improved second semester of 1L. I just feel lonely and miss my family and friends who are a five hour flight away. Would the professional ramifications be drastic if I’m not looking to do OCI or anything of the sort.

2023.06.04 08:24 ArrivalUpset6475 Health bio
There aren’t many people on here so I thought I’d post my health bio in case anyone is looking for answers and finds my info helpful.
2003 age 22: flew to Madagascar, which was nearly 24 hours of airplanes and then we also did several boat rides, of at least an hour each. I was on an anti-malarial medication. I noticed that when I walked, it felt like the jungle was whizzing by me. I felt very weird, a bit dizzy and like my brain wasn’t keeping up with everything around me. The episode lasted about 4 weeks, and I assumed it was the anti-malarials that were doing it to me.
2008: flew to Belize. Again was taking anti-malarial medication. Again we had a lot of boat rides, including a full day of snorkeling off a small boat. I felt like I was still on the boat after I got off. That feeling lasted about 6 weeks. I saw an ENT who said maybe it could be a reaction to the anti-malarials, gave me an 8” thick medical textbook and suggested I sit in his office and look it up myself. I decided to go home and try google instead (which wasn’t nearly as robust as google today is). I felt like I was walking on a trampoline, and even when I wasn’t moving, I was still rocking.
2009: I flew to see my dad and was fine in the way there. A couple days after returning home, I felt the rocking feeling start, faintly at first and then getting stronger. It felt like I was on a boat being tossed by the sea. The feeling got stronger and stronger and I went to see a different ENT. He ordered an MRI and I had a complete sinus blockage, but he still didn’t think that explained everything. He sent me to a neurologist who laughed at me and said “well it’s not MS. I don’t know why you’re here.” For about a month, I couldn’t get out of bed; I was so exhausted and weak, and the vertigo was so strong. I had a weird g-force feeling like I was being physically pushed to one side or another. After about 8 or 9 weeks, the episode faded away. I did have a sinus surgery but only after I was better. At this point, I knew something was up. I found info about mal de Debarquement online but it was limited. It also sounded like it was something people got and had forever, not episodic like mine.
2011: triggered again but this time by a car ride. All my family lived out of town so I had to travel if I wanted to see them. Suspecting that planes were a trigger, we decided to drive from Arizona to Oregon. I got triggered and again the episode lasted 2 months. I again felt weak along with bouncing, rocking vertigo and disorientation. We decided to move to be closer to my mom and sister since traveling was clearly a trigger for me.
I went on to be triggered in 2012 by stress after a surgery (endometriosis) and in 2014 by a 1 hour ferry ride. Both times my symptoms were rocking vertigo as if I were on a boat, plus exhaustion, migraines, exercise intolerance. My labs and other tests all came back basically normal. I started seeing Dr Jeff Brown, who co-wrote the first article about MdDS, and he diagnosed me with M de Debarquement but said he was mystified by my episodes, but thought we could try Xanax and prednisone before travel next time I fly. In 2015 I got to test it out, and I flew and didn’t get triggered! I would have been thrilled except I felt there was no way to know if the preventative measures worked or if I just wouldn’t have been triggered.
In 2017 I was triggered due to a lot of stress, plus a 20 minute light rail ride downtown. I had a small lesion on my face and was diagnosed with shingles on the vestibular nerve. The episode was so intense, it felt like two layers of vertigo at once. I could feel like MdDS rocking but also a slow rotational spinning. It was completely debilitating. It lasted 2 months. I had vestibular testing done and it came back that I have endolymphatic hydrops, so Dr Brown added “atypical Ménière’s disease” to my Mal de Debarquement diagnosis.
2018: i tried the Xanax before flying again but I took too little and was triggered.
2019: flew to Panama and did not get triggered! Used about 2.5 mg Xanax for the first flight and a top off of another 1.0-1.5 mg on the second leg. Success!
2021: I got triggered on a 45 minute kayak trip. The episode lasted a year, and about 4 months in, I had the “2 layers” of vertigo again plus one 24/7 migraine for two months. I was out of work for 2.5 months. I was so weak I couldn’t walk around the block. I used to walk 5 miles for fun, and I couldn’t even walk 3 houses up the street and back.
2023: I was triggered playing a VR game (only 6 months after the previous episode faded away). So far this episode has lasted 4.5 months. I keep narrowing my life little by little. No flying? Let’s drive. No long car trips? Let’s try short trips. No short trips? Let’s try VR.
I don’t go many places anymore and I just go to work and go back home. I garden, I paint, I play with my cat. I used to not get dizzy/vertigo in the car, but now I do. I have trouble looking at screens and reading. I listen to audio books. I still have no real answers and no treatment plan. It’s been really hard.

2023.06.04 08:22 Buffering90 Late flight into Kansai Airport - Best accommodation tips?
Hey everyone,
My Cathay Pacfic flight is scheduled to get to Kansai Airport at 9:30pm September 15th. So I didn't think at all when booking this when the train lines from the airport (or throughout Osaka) wrap up for the night as I was more concerned with getting my travel done in a single day.
While Ill be joining my sister, neice and nephew in Osaka from the 16th and we will be staying together over the next 2 weeks in Japan, this inital night is stressing me out.
The plan was to be based in Namba so we are near Dotonbori for a few nights and then stay at USJ as thats a major highlight of our trip.
While I have a Suica card already, I forgot about customs as im a novice traveller and would also need to sort out Wi-Fi, get my checked luggage and put money on said Suica card in a reasonable time as the last rapid train is 11pm and last trains in general at midnight.
Would it be best to stay overnight at the Kansai airport and would they have food options at that time? Or try and find a place in Namba and see if I can walk there from Namba station?
We will be staying the night of the 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th in Osaka then off to Kyoto early the 19th. Any accomodation recommendations? Travelling party of 4 but would split into two twin bed rooms preferable to save some cash.
Outside of USJ we are super excited to eplore Dotembori and will go to Shinsekai, Osaka Castle and the Umeda Sky Buidling so a good base for a few days post my inital stay potentially at the airport and before the Park Hotel at USJ is what we are after, any recommendations or help is much appreciated.
Matt :)

2023.06.04 08:22 Aravyr I quit Petco, and begin my new job on Monday!
Entertainingly, when I messaged my boss about the fact I was leaving a few days in advance, I received no reply or calls at all. Today my workday and dayforce have been disabled so I guess it's official now lol! Starting pay is leagues better and raises are so much better and more frequent too.
Since I did not receive any correspondence from him, I will ask y'all here - in regards to accrued PTO that was scheduled/approved to be taken in a month from now, will that be paid out to me? I had 30-some hours saved up.
Separately, if any of you guys were hedging on if you should stay or go, snag a job elsewhere, then free yourself from the petco chains - the literal ones, because even if the environment is good at your store it is a dead end job that will suffocate you, unless you don't need extra cash and enjoy the work, then by all means! My store was okay, some unpleasant coworkers, but I also had coworkers I really liked. No one really enjoys working there anymore unless it's interacting with animals - VCP harassment, bag fee harassment, disgusting owners who don't clean up after their animals, screaming children SQUEAKING TOYS constantly and smacking aquariums, people trying to put animals in tiny enclosures and refusing to listen to any reasonable advice. There's the reverse where people are really excited to own a new animal *and* give it a good life, but between the heat rocks and the 1.2gs and ~specially ordered~ $1000+ reptiles and TEGUS that don't sell for half a year, stuck in a tiny terrarium, inappropriate substrate and inappropriate handling? Infuriating.
You guys wouldn't believe how many complaints I made in my time working here only for almost none of it to be addressed. Yes, let's have the person with the least exotic animal experience become the CAL and not give her any training! Dropping chameleons? No biggie. Carry a skink or said tegu on your head? That's totally fine. Have an unrestrained flighted conure sit on your shoulder for an entire shift while you handle and feed snakes and other animals? Totally acceptable. I couldn't possibly forget the amount of bird shit at the register and around the store that was left uncleaned for weeks, and likely is still there now. I'm just frustrated at the fact she has hurt and put so many animals at risk and it's like no one gives a shit. I tell the GM and he's just like well what can you do, or an "I'll talk to her." and it's all so fake because nothing actually gets changed. I alert about illness in animals and I see that animal for sale for another week until it gets *really* sick or stays the same and either deteriorates and dies or it gets sold sick, or spreads the illness to all the other animals in the cage for the nth time. It's disgusting. It's just frustrating working somewhere that supposedly values animal welfare but even when customers complain about it, nothing changes. The 'funniest' encounter I had was when I saw that same CAL have a juvie blue-tongue skink just... clinging to her shoulder, trying not to slide off while she walked around without holding on to him. I told her she needs to hold on to him and not leave him dangling because they can't climb well and he could die from a drop like that, at the minimum get seriously injured. Like the poor thing was literally about to tumble. But I just got an, "I do this all the time and he's always been fine." and a "We aren't going to see eye to eye on this." Just because he has managed to HANG ON before doesn't mean he will always be able to cling to a vertical, moving surface 6 feet off the ground. Like are you kidding me. I could go on for a hot minute about this CAL honestly lmao. She got in trouble for carrying around the bird all day, so the verdict was just to continue wearing the bird like an accessory, except when the DGM comes by, then oh wow, where's the bird? In it's cage? How convenient. I literally watched this happen each time. She KNOWS she is doing wrong and is trying not to get caught and the GM is LETTING IT HAPPEN. But it makes sense, because VCP is what really matters, right? /s
So, the TLDR here is just find somewhere else before it gets worse. It will get worse. I have never had a job more frustrating than this one and it wasn't even about the workload for me lol. So off I go, to a much healthier and less frustrating environment where I can actually do my work in peace and not be a witness to animal abuse I can do next to nothing about. My only regret is that I didn't leave sooner.

2023.06.04 08:21 KashmirTravelDiary 10 Travel Tips That Will Make Your Next Vacation Stress-Free
Are you looking forward to your next vacation? Whether it's a weekend getaway or a long-awaited trip abroad, traveling can be a stressful experience if you're not prepared. That's why we've compiled a list of 10 travel tips that will help you stay organized, save money, and make the most of your time away. From packing hacks and money-saving tips to insider advice on staying healthy while on the go, these tips are designed to help you get the most out of your next adventure. So sit back, relax, and let's get ready to embark on the stress-free vacation of your dreams!
Plan and research your trip ahead of time
Planning ahead is essential when it comes to traveling stress-free. Start by researching your destination and creating a rough itinerary. Look up the best places to eat, the must-see sights, and the activities you want to do. Once you have a general idea of what you want to do, create a daily schedule that includes time for relaxation and downtime. This will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed and stressed out during your trip.
Another important aspect of planning ahead is booking your travel arrangements early. This includes your flights, accommodations, and any activities or tours you want to do. By booking early, you can often save money on your travel expenses and avoid the stress of last-minute planning. Plus, having everything booked and organized ahead of time will give you peace of mind and allow you to focus on enjoying your trip.
When planning your trip, it's also a good idea to research local customs and traditions. This will help you avoid any cultural faux pas and show respect for the local culture. For example, in some countries, it's considered impolite to wear shoes inside homes or temples. By researching ahead of time, you can avoid accidentally offending locals and make a positive impression during your trip.
Choose the right accommodations
Choosing the right accommodations is crucial to having a stress-free vacation. Consider your options carefully and choose a place that fits your needs and budget. If you're looking for a luxurious experience, consider staying at a resort or hotel with plenty of amenities. If you're on a budget, consider staying at a hostel or Airbnb. These options can be a great way to save money and meet new people during your trip.
When choosing your accommodations, be sure to read reviews from other travelers. This will give you an idea of what to expect and help you avoid any unpleasant surprises. Look for reviews that mention cleanliness, safety, and location. These are all important factors to consider when choosing a place to stay.
Finally, consider the location of your accommodations. If you want to be close to the action, choose a place that's centrally located. If you prefer a quieter experience, choose a place that's away from the hustle and bustle. By choosing the right accommodations, you can ensure a comfortable and stress-free stay.
Pack light and smart
Packing can be one of the most stressful aspects of traveling. To avoid feeling overwhelmed, start by making a packing list. This will help you stay organized and ensure that you don't forget anything important. Be sure to pack light and only bring what you need. This will make it easier to navigate airports and public transportation and avoid hefty baggage fees.
When packing, consider using packing cubes or compression bags to save space and keep your belongings organized. Roll your clothes instead of folding them to maximize space in your luggage. And don't forget to pack a small bag for your personal items, such as your passport, wallet, and phone. This will keep your essentials within easy reach and help you avoid the stress of searching through your luggage for important items.
Another packing tip is to pack versatile clothing that can be mixed and matched. This will help you create multiple outfits with fewer pieces of clothing. And be sure to check the weather forecast for your destination before you pack. This will help you avoid packing unnecessary items and ensure that you're prepared for any weather conditions.
Keep important documents and valuables safe
Keeping your important documents and valuables safe is essential to having a stress-free vacation. Start by making copies of your passport, ID, and any other important documents. Keep the copies in a separate location from the originals, such as in your luggage or with a trusted friend or family member. This will ensure that you have a backup in case your documents are lost or stolen.
When traveling, it's also important to keep your valuables safe. Consider investing in a money belt or hidden pouch to keep your cash and credit cards secure. And never leave your valuables unattended in public places, such as beaches or cafes. Keep them locked up in your accommodations or carry them with you at all times.
Finally, consider purchasing travel insurance before your trip. This will provide you with peace of mind and financial protection in case of any unexpected emergencies or accidents.
Stay hydrated and healthy
Staying hydrated and healthy is crucial to having a stress-free vacation. Start by drinking plenty of water throughout your trip. This will help you avoid dehydration and fatigue, especially if you're traveling to a hot or humid destination.
Another important aspect of staying healthy is eating well. Try to eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables. And be sure to try the local cuisine, but be mindful of any dietary restrictions or food allergies.
When traveling, it's also important to get enough sleep. This will help you feel rested and energized during your trip. And don't forget to take breaks and rest when needed. This will help you avoid burnout and ensure that you enjoy your trip to the fullest.
Make a budget and stick to it
Making a budget and sticking to it is essential to having a stress-free vacation. Start by creating a rough estimate of your travel expenses, including flights, accommodations, food, and activities. Then, factor in any additional expenses, such as souvenirs or transportation.
Once you have a budget in place, stick to it as closely as possible. Avoid overspending on unnecessary items and look for ways to save money, such as cooking your own meals or using public transportation. And be sure to keep track of your expenses throughout your trip, so you can adjust your budget as needed.
Stay connected with loved ones back home
Staying connected with loved ones back home is important to having a stress-free vacation. Make sure to let your friends and family know where you'll be staying and how to reach you in case of an emergency. And consider using social media or messaging apps to stay in touch and share updates during your trip.
Another important aspect of staying connected is to have a backup plan in case of any unforeseen events. This may include having a trusted friend or family member who can help with any emergencies or unexpected situations.
Embrace local culture and customs
Embracing local culture and customs is a great way to have a stress-free vacation. Take the time to learn about the local customs and traditions, and try to respect them during your trip. This may include learning a few phrases in the local language or trying the local cuisine.
Another great way to embrace local culture is to participate in local activities and events. This may include attending a cultural festival or visiting a historical landmark. By immersing yourself in the local culture, you'll gain a deeper appreciation for your destination and make lasting memories.
Relax and enjoy the journey
Finally, remember to relax and enjoy the journey.
Traveling can be stressful, but it can also be a rewarding and enriching experience. Take the time to appreciate the sights, sounds, and experiences of your destination. And don't forget to take breaks and rest when needed. By staying relaxed and present, you'll be able to enjoy your trip to the fullest.
Conclusion
Traveling can be stressful, but with the right preparation and mindset, it can also be a stress-free and enjoyable experience. By planning ahead, choosing the right accommodations, packing light and smart, keeping important documents and valuables safe, staying hydrated and healthy, making a budget and sticking to it, staying connected with loved ones back home, embracing local culture and customs, and relaxing and enjoying the journey, you can make your next vacation a stress-free and unforgettable experience. So go ahead, book that trip and get ready to embark on the adventure of a lifetime!

2023.06.04 08:21 _freshmowngrass Another callback to episode one that I really appreciated
Of course, like many of us, I’ve decided to go back and watch the series from the very beginning again. One thing I noticed that really tickled me was the difference in Ted’s demeanour from his first flight to London to his flight home to Kansas. On his way to London he’s second guessing himself and can’t sleep for the whole flight. On the flight home he sleeps the whole way, imo implying that he’s completely at peace with his decision. I thought it was a lovely little bookend.

2023.06.04 08:18 karasuuchiha Part 3 Moass Today or Moass adoption tomorrow
——-Back to Fluff and Justice before I go onto talk about our path to bring tomorrow into today!!! To finally see the beautiful 🚀 that we all know we deserve!
I love you Robbie, Byron, Ryan Cohen and team, your 🦍s, your Gmericans 💜 but this is our story!! I’m sorry it’s not gonna be Web 3 Gaming nor DeFi nor NFT asset gold rush setting off MOASS! It will be us, we have watched the failed CEXs that have been kicking their failure can and Web3 gamings horizon is still a year out, and Brand Names aren’t quite pulling in the attention needed. BULLISH and 🦍ish as I am on all of these things! Knowing full well everyone single one has the captivity to set off MOASS, I still KNOW it’s US, the many who wish to start their lives now! it’s going to be 🦍s!, we are here and we’re pissed 😡 2 Fuking years!!!
No more!! we will take our future into our own 💎 Crusted 🙌s, we will light this 🚀 and take charge 🏴☠️ we will take the world by the hand! And we will show it LOVE !!! Im tired of waiting to HELP, I’m tired of waiting to be PAID, this is our RIGHT, this is our Justice! And no longer shall it be delayed !!!!!!!! So please hear me roar!!! Hear me cry!!!! Hear me love!!!! Poor your hearts out!!! Let the truth out!!! Let’s finally take our place! For we have EARNED it.
This is our FUTURE and it starts NOW because Financial Markets move Overnight!! So when you read this next section, when you understand clearly how they harm us and stop us, don’t attack instead step forward with love, we have a new world 🦍s, a new gaming economy, this is our world now 🦍s so choose love ❤️, the world needs it so badly and we have all the opportunity in the world to choose love 💙 I truly love all of you with all my being and I truly wish for the best for all of you 💜
4 The best kind of MOASS 🦍s MOASS:
We have read from our Web3 Gaming Partner and from our DeFi partner, and we have seen how much potential lies in GameStops NFT MP, so now let’s read from our own Financial Expert, Investor turned Executive, Buyer of the Stonk! Larry (Fuking) Cheng💜, it’s a long quote, I’ll bold the parts I’m mainly using to explain what it means, plus an article and sources to back it up.
“Been thinking about a simple explanation/theory of why private market multiples are higher than public market multiples right now. Sometimes extremes better illustrate a point: If, hypothetically, 30-year treasuries were paying 20% tomorrow, trillions of capital in public equity would immediately flow into treasuries. However in the same scenario, no dollars would flow out from private equity to treasuries because of illiquidity at the company level and blind pool commitments at the fund level - it can’t flow out. Public equity multiples would absolutely crater because capital would leave. Private equity multiples would become more “disciplined” but not crater because the amount of capital in the asset class would be the same. To a lesser degree, that’s why in a rising rate environment right now, we are seeing private market multiples that are higher than public market ones. Which multiple environment is more correct - public or private? It depends on the rate environment. If rates are rising, then private market multiples will gradually moderate down towards public multiples over time. If rates are declining, then public market multiples will more quickly moderate up towards private market multiples once that rate path is clear.”. basically interest rates are connected to price discovery (MOASS), so as promised heres an article that’s also explains it in a shorter quote
“giving monetary officials fresh ammo to pause their aggressive policy-tightening campaign, attention on Wall Street is shifting to the prospect of an economic downturn. That’s spurring traders to reward the strongest companies in the stock market while punishing the weakest — reducing in-tandem moves between S&P 500 shares.”, now why would anyone other then 💎🙌🦍s care? Cause interest rates directly cause INFLATION, YES you read that right, Interest rates are
Causing inflation ironically because we have a debt based system!
“A one-time increase in the supply of debt that doesn’t correspond to increased demand can likely mean a change in the price level or the interest rate, or both, the author explained. A continuing debt issuance not met by a corresponding growth in the demand for debt is likely to show up as a higher rate of inflation” Sources for the capital flight, the obvious place funds moved to, lack of demand, record debt, and corporate America crashing. *
Graph Showing Institutional capital flight from Stock Market likely straight to Guaranteed Treasury returns *
“The two-year Treasury yield, which typically moves in step with interest rate expectations, rose 7.2 basis “ *
No Demand *
Record Debt *
The crash is already here no need for interest rates to continue being elevated submitted by

2 Decentralized Finance MOASS Adoption
For MOASS DeFi Adoption we have
@Loopring! which first step is bringing CEX Crypto into the DeFi world of Gmerica🏴☠️! Now to quote our DeFi Partner Bryon :)
“We’re at a major inflection point. Centralization failures left and right. Exchanges + lending platforms losing customer funds. Banks failing because of centralized planning. Judges + courts ruling that if you store your funds on a centralized platform, you’re giving up ownership of those assets if the company fails. Everything is pointing towards crypto. Everything is pointing towards DeFi + self-custody as the future. The world will move to self custody as they learn this is the only way to truly own their hard earned assets. The timing couldn’t be better for our upcoming major Block Trading feature. Access the worlds best liquidity from the comfort of your self-custody wallet. Then experience everything else Loopring L2 has to offer once you’re there. Dual Investments, Staking, Trading, NFTs, Gaming. A true CEX-like experience without having to give up custody (ownership) over your assets. @loopringorg is building the future to enable the world to be their own bank from the comfort + security of their self-custody (self-owned) wallet. Now is the time - this next crypto bull market will pull the world into crypto and we’ll be ready🫡 Step 1: ✅bring CEX users over to DEX Step 2: ✅build the best one-stop shop ecosystem that allows you to #BeYourOwnBank so you never have to leave” Those who are use to a system of lies and thievery with manipulation, where CEXs, Banks, and Brokers don’t actually have your coins, cash, or stocks, will get to see what it is to truly #BeYourOwnBank and to #OwnYourOwnAssets, as the CEXs, Banks and Brokers fail, the flight from all of centralized finance and to secure transparent DeFi will cause a rally of a life time. All 4 paths for MOASS/MOASS adoption feeds into each other, the whole gaming economy of Gmerica🏴☠️ does! That’s our DeFi MOASS Adoption!!! Building the best Crypto Smart Wallet and DeFi Trading Exchange in the world!!!!! (What’s extra interesting is Loopring now has
Block Trades, well seemingly inconsequential overall beyond offering an even better experience on
Loopring what happens when a CEX exchange starts selling the DeFi tokens from their treasury (which is likely not enough to cover the accounts they custodian for) to Truly DeFi wallets?!?!? ;)💎🙌🏴☠️🚀🚀🚀🚀) Loopring also has another trick up it’s sleeve when it added $Pepe, I’m extremely bullish on its prospects when more and more holders jump in, tho it has trillions of coins, that’s not a bad thing it’s actually great for BILLIONS of users :) atm there’s around 100k Holders keeping $Pepe at around .5B market cap, it hasn’t been listed on many CEXs still, so many opportunities in the land of Gmerica🏴☠️ I’m so grateful to be an 🦍 and GMErican the future truly is look bright for us all :) option 2/Loopring is also extra special because of its financial scalability, everything and every asset will run on loopring through
GameStops MP the determination of value will finally be fully in the direct hands of the Players :) PowerToThePlayers PowertoThePeople PowerToTheWorld GameStop now in Gmerica :)

2023.06.04 08:17 justinwrite2 Criticize my first chapter please!
Totally new to this, would love critique on my first chapter. Give it to me real. I want to improve: this may just be a hobby but I love it!
What you see on Page One.
Read Seekers, until daytime fades to candlelight, For magic is found when ink breathes life to parchment, When bookbindings break and cradled words take flight. It’s the safety of cozying up near the warming hearth, And the rising steam from a wellworn mug It’s that smile when you turn the page in delight.
That cool little quote thing before a chapter starts that gives you background.
West of the Citadel Clouds, Bordering Mountain Pines and fickle Seashine Lies the renowned Port Cardica Where sailors sing and blight-born orphans dream.
Chapter 1
A Slip Away from Death
Like most boys, Jake chose snoring in the pews over memorizing the Church’s proverbs. A clear mistake, he realized, as the Pastor's warning that “prayer follows danger” proved true. Hanging precipitously from the cliff’s edge, Jake recited every Creed he could remember in a futile attempt to appease any watching Gods.
“Prosper in his light, heathentry outside his sight,” he prayed, feet kicking in a desperate search for better footing.
It was a stowaways’ stanza, a tenet meant to share wisdom in ways the thickest of Port Cardica’s orphan dockboys could understand but, like most doctrine, its religious meaning was lost in translation.
Instead, the impoverished boys interpreted it as a practical warning to keep their heads down. Everyone knew the city’s Nobles revered the Book and claimed their prosperity was proof of Gods’ favor. Of course, beggars knew better: one downward glance at them revealed the decay fueling Cardica’s burgeoning wealth. Still, the poor learned to philosophize quietly. Someone was to blame for the hoveltowns, bird droppings, and penetrating seafood stink, and it better not be you.
For his part, Jake blamed himself. If he’d scaled the cliff wall with just a bit more care and a bit less haste he’d never have slipped. Instead he’d been forced to violently slow his descent, bruising bones and trading skin for friction on the vertical slope. It wasn’t a graceful maneuver by any means, but it beat falling hundreds of feet into the freezing current below. Thankfully, years as a guttersnipe had honed his reflexes – his gangly arms lacked the strength of a Swordsquire or the coordination of a Majpupil, but his daily dance with starvation demanded nimble fingers and quick wit.
That experience wasn’t paying off. As Jake shuffled his feet around to find better purchase, his hands slipped on the accruing condensation from the ongoing manastorm. His grip flagged, then failed, and he had neither the magic nor the strength to escape the weight of gravity.
“It isn't written, it isn’t written” Jake recited frantically as he began to plummet. The other dockboys would laugh at his superstition, but he didn’t care. Many claimed the Creeds were lucky, and Jake desperately needed some luck. Instinctively he spread his arms out as wide as possible, hoping to extend his reach and grip onto something.
By some miracle, It worked. The resounding sound of cloth ripping accompanied Jake as he slammed into the stone cliff, teetering to a stop. He hung like a rag doll, held up only by the hem of his matted, brown tunic; the cheap weavings had snagged and torn on an outcropping of stone.
“Aughhh” he mumbled.
He had survived, but everything hurt. Looking down to inspect the damage, Jake saw that his calloused hands were raw and pebbled, but a quick flex confirmed he hadn’t broken any fingerbones. Breathing a sigh of relief, he gasped at the telltale sting every kicked streetrat knew so well.
“Po-Poet’s hand,” Jake swore.
He grabbed the cliff wall to stabilize himself and, seeing as it had worked so far, continued reciting the few Creeds he could remember. A minute passed before he was able to think clearly, but slowly Jake got his breathing under control and continued his self-assessment.
Overall, he felt like things couldn’t have gone much worse. His cracked ribs hurt and continuing the heist would only exacerbate the damage, leading to scarring or permanent hobbling. Jake had seen many dockbeggars with similar injuries from fights or beatings, unable to walk straight without being plagued by the stitchers cough.
For this reason alone, Jake briefly considered giving up. He quickly dismissed the idea – it might be madness to continue climbing in his condition, but he’d come too far to back out now. He’d planned this heist for months, obsessively pathing his break-in while waiting for a night when security would be light. In retrospect, he’d been a fool; his overly cautious preparations left no possibility for a second attempt before his 15th birthday.
No, despite his injury tonight was still his best hope to successfully steal a Scriptors’ Grimoire before Binding Day. Failure would mean enslavement as a Ruddite or worse, full Automation. He’d just have to trust the windy weather to mute his movements and the harvest moons to light his way.
So, teeth chattering with cold and fear, Jake resumed the ascent. His ribs sang in agony as he put one hand in front of the other, slowly turning small divots into handholds, footholds and leverage. Each bouldering movement made him wince, but over the years he’d honed the art of turning sweat and grit into capillary action. He’d had no other choice; richmen shared a passion for building impenetrable estates, forcing thieves to develop an unshaking hand at scaling them.
Five painstaking minutes of climbing later and Jake regained his original position. Salty sweat matted his brow and stinged his eyes but he persevered. He blinked slowly to clear his vision and shuffled his feet left over right, shivering his way across an inch-wide protrusion. Just a few meters above him stood the lip of the granite outcropping and access to the marble fortress built upon it. Jake tasted copper as he bit the inside of his cheek in anticipation – If the heist went well he’d finally change his destiny and be able to swear upon the Sermon’s Book on his own terms.
But first he had to finish the climb. He knew the manor’s sentries rotated hourly, eyes glued to the sky as they watched for flyingmen and attacks from above. He also knew that all these guards would be literate, but none especially gifted. After all, no one powerful enough to be a Writer would stand watch over another man's fortune. The chartered Maji Wordlings, on the other hand, could easily detect Jake if he hadn’t planned for them in advance. He chose tonight because it was the season’s Lenting, meaning the majority of Maji would be in communion until the sun rose.
“What is written” a gruff voice proclaimed, startling Jake.
It was muffled by the wind, so it took him a moment to realize it was coming from directly above him. Jake craned his neck and peered up; to his horror he could see the silhouette of a guard's shadow on the cliff wall.
Petrified, Jake hugged his body to the cold granite, hoping the darkness of the windy night would hide his form. His entire plan hung on the simple thesis that in a world of magidetectors and magflight, no one would expect an unbound to scale the walls. Great in theory, but what if a guard just happened to look down?
“Is Foretold and Forbidden,” another voice chanted, completing the customary greeting. “All safe on the watch?”
“All is safe and silent, as usual,” the first man grunted.
“Don’t sound so upset,” the second laughed. ”We chose this job because it’s easy, remember? No more treading through the mud, no more war with those blasted barren beasts and their infernal warlocks.”
“That’s true, althou..”
The men’s voices were swept up in the wind as they paced further down the stone perimeter. They hadn’t seen him, but, just to be safe, Jake stayed low until he could no longer hear the stamping of metal-toed boots on stone. Then, fingers white and aching in trepidation, he waited another 30 seconds.
Finishing his count, Jake peaked over the edge. It took all the courage he had earned as a thief and every bit of boldness he had learned as a beggar, but he managed it.
The coast was clear.
Jake carefully pulled himself over the ledge before falling into a crouch. He looked around and exhaled painfully, releasing a breath he had not realized he was holding.
In front of him lay an outdoor walkway culminating in a rippling fountain circumscribed by five basalt pillars of progressively increasing height. Everflowing torches adorned each of the columns and burned despite the rain, casting rings of golden light throughout the open atrium. At the foot of the fountain rose a gold-leafed speaker's lectern, a pure white sculpture of the Sermon Book chiseled open upon it.
Jake stared openmouthed at the power radiating from the fountain before abruptly coming to his senses. Without a doubt this artifact was a Magisma, an extremely expensive construct meant to amplify its controller’s magic. Leaving it outside was a casual display of wealth and power meant to shock and impress, but Jake didn’t have time for that.
Instead Jake blended into the shadows cast by the monument as he sneaked his way across the grounds. After passing the walkway the torchlight dimmed considerably, forcing him to hobble his way in the dark. A bright flash startled him, but the acid smell of tobacco that accompanied it indicated the guards he’d seen earlier were smoking to pass the time. Realizing they were distracted, Jake sped up and almost tripped on the jutting crystals of an emerald rock garden. Embarrassed, he paused to listen for anyone approaching.
Everything was quiet except for the constant pitter, patter and hiss of rain from the manastorm. It seemed his home-invasion had so far gone unnoticed, but the hair on Jake’s neck rose. An unsettling feeling of being watched set in and every few seconds he reflexively looked over his shoulder.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, he made it to the Manor wall. Keeping to the shadows, Jake hid behind the tallest thing he could find; a towering yellow flower with leaves the size of platters that he had never seen before. Staying low, he muddied his knees and toes on the damp ground, but thankfully the foliage protected him from the rain. As his eyes adjusted to less light, Jake noticed all sorts of exotic fruits surrounding him; blood red berries in the shape of teardrops levitated inches off the ground, while turquoise bubbles floated up from vibrant greenery, collapsing quickly into little orange stones that looked remarkably like candy. Jake’s belly growled at the idea of tasting these treats, but he dismissed his urges. Stanzas warned that “those who leave riches unread become starving men” but Jake knew hunger well. He would jeopardize his mission by eating something that might make him sick tonight.
Instead, he focused on gaining entry to the manor. Searching his surroundings, Jake located the iron front doors about 6 meters to his right. They were guarded by life-like statues on either side, one a Korai of the Poet, hand outstretched in greeting, the other a two headed wolf, with both snarling maws crying out to the moons. The door itself was blacked with age and inscribed by a massive oval spellwork that glinted in the light cast by a hanging lantern.
Listening closely, Jake groaned at the buzz of silverscripting coming from the insignia. Every thief knew that spellworks grew more powerful over time, and anything audible would be too powerful for any Unbound to lockpick.

2023.06.04 08:06 GonFreecs92 Which Pass Should I get While In Switzerland
Good afternoon, I'll be visiting switzerland in two weeks and as much research as I have done about everything the passes still confuse me lol. I will be in Switzerland for 6 days. Two days in Zurich and 4 days in the Jungfrau region (Going to visit Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald). Which pass should I get? I'm leaning towards getting the day passes while in Zurich and the Jungfrau Pass while in that region. My other question is what pass do I use to get to the Jungfrau region from Zurich and back to Zurich to hop on a flight at the airport?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

2023.06.04 08:02 acy2365 How would you optimize this set of cards?
Current cards:
US Bank AR
Amazon Visa (not a Prime member)
Wells Fargo Autograph
Citi DC (oldest account, ~10 years)
Amex Delta Platinum
Annual credit card spend $30-40k.
15-20% restaurants, bars, breweries, cafes
15-20% groceries
15-20% travel (including flights, hotels, ride share, public transit, etc.)
15% Amazon
The rest is miscellaneous -- stuff, entertainment, medical, etc. I probably take about 3-4 round trip Delta flights per year. Have always been able to use my companion pass for >AF value. Could consider downgrading to gold (the free checked bag and Main 1 boarding are nice), but I figure as long as I keep getting the companion pass value from it, no real reason to ditch it?
I was thinking I should use the USBAR as much as possible if mobile pay is an option, then park the Amazon Visa on my Amazon account (since no mobile wallet options and can get stable 3% there). In an ideal world, I'd not even use the other 3 cards -- I probably don't lose that much value even if no mobile pay option, as the USBAR should still get about 1.5% rewards vs. 2-3% that the CDC or WFA could gain? Given how common Apple Pay is now, that seems like a pretty infrequent occurrence and I feel like I could justify the occasional small loss for convenience sake.
My partner suggested just cancelling the USBAR given the fee, but I feel like I make it up with my annual spend and the infinite insurances are nice to have for some added peace of mind. Would you ditch it?
Wondering if anyone has other thoughts on how to optimize this setup? Would ideally like to use no more than 3 regularly (even better if it's just 2).

2023.06.04 08:01 therickyy Parties are impossible to enjoy. Brutal sensory overload tonight
Tonight my wife and I had plans to go to a big house party that we’ve been looking forward to for a while. Friends hosting that live 2.5 hours away. We don’t really ever get invited to parties so this was rare. We figured why not. And it was a themed party. So we got all ready in advance, bought new outfits, drove 2.5 hours, got a hotel… a whole thing.
Somehow though I knew deep down inside this was going to go horribly wrong for me. I’ve never been able to handle parties. But this time I thought I’d push myself. Really try. I brought my Loop earplugs, ate plenty before, talked through all possible scenarios.
Got there and BAM nothing but new people. New environment. Very nice house. Nice enough people. But 2.5 hours of small talk later amidst pounding dance music I couldn’t escape and I felt like my skeleton was going to burst out of my skin and run away without me.
Jittery. Couldn’t focus or calm down. Tried going outside - didn’t help. Tried going for a quiet walk around the block. Didn’t help.
I really wanted to be there. I wanted it to work. But my body refused. The thumping repetitive music and all the 50+ voices talking at once and no quiet areas. It just wasn’t happening.
We agreed to leave. And instead of staying the night in the hotel, I just drove 2.5 hours home landing at 2am. I’m spent. But at least I’m comfortable in the quiet of my own home again.
I hate this. I wish I could enjoy - or even handle - social events like this. But it was awful.
The stupid part is I know that if they had been playing music I like - like rock music instead of thumping dance music - and they just had one or two quiet rooms, I could have done it. I might have even enjoyed it.
But my body absolutely goes into flight mode when I am around dance music that long with that much nonstop inescapable small talk. I just wanted to find one or two people and go have a nice long meaningful conversation somewhere we could actually hear each other. Or, if the music had been better for me, I could have just enjoyed that alone.
The stupid thing is - I love concerts. Just got back from a music festival. The people there were awesome. I had no problem with the noise or with them. But put me in a place with the wrong music and the wrong conversations and I’m done for.
Anyone else like this?

2023.06.04 07:51 selftitleddebutalbum I know this sub is for the state itself, but here's some thoughts from a Georgian who just got home from June Jam.
Thank you Fort Payne for your hospitality. I was asked to attend with an older, autistic friend that's basically extended family because she's a massive fan of the band and I was the natural candidate being a total slave to live music. Despite some hiccups like the lack of water stations and the oversized VIP section, it was an absolute blast. I asked my friend on the drive how many times she'd seen Alabama and found out that this would be the first time.
LET'S GO!
I can't tell you how elated she was on the ride back. And the crowd was so friendly. The atmosphere was wholesome. You could feel the love on stage permeating into the crowd. I like older and different kinds of country alongside everything else that I generally listen to. What can I say, I'm particular. So I wouldn't have gone to anything like this normally, but I'm so glad I was "tricked" into it. Enjoyed it all, discovered some new artists that I was really impressed with, and even enjoyed some that I knew already much more than I expected. And of course, Alabama put on a great closer. And the cherry on top: my friend who got to see them for the first time, at her first festival, that was returning after 26 years, with a beautiful memorial set for Jeff... It was the first time I've ever been faked out by an encore myself. The show was already great and the excitement as we walked past the removed barricades even closer to the band for a couple of bonus songs was an experience for the both of us.
Sorry for the rant. Just wanted to send some love from your neighbors to say thanks and y'all be well!

2023.06.04 07:49 QuackersParty UPDATE: I’ve written a letter and I don’t know if I should send it
A while ago I posted here about having finally written a letter to my dad as a way of making sure he knew exactly how his alcoholism effected/effects my life (I’ll put the original post at the end of this). I wasn’t trying to change anything really, i just thought it would maybe make me feel better to know for sure that he knew how he made me feel. So after talking it over with my therapist I sent the letter as an email and my dad said he needed a bit to think through it. I thought I should mention why happened next to complete the story for you guys and for other people who may be thinking about the same thing.
Anyway, after a few days my dad emailed me back which was good. I wanted to establish a firm boundary and I told him I specifically did not want to talk to him about it over then phone, and I knew that once he got the email his first reaction would be to call. He responded by saying the email I sent was pretty devastating and he talked to his counselor about it. He also told me that he wanted to talk it through but in person. I shouldn’t have bent on that, but I told him I could meet up with him for coffee to talk about it the next time he was in my area (I live like a 10hr drive/1.5 hr flight from him).
He asked my work schedule and then a few hours later he told my he booked a flight for one of my days off. I was pretty pissed at the assumption that I didn’t have plans but I told him we could
just meet for coffee if he insisted on coming that day.
So the day of I show up at the coffee place and he said his flights are booked so he could pretty much spend the whole day with me. I told him I couldn’t do that because I had to take my dog to the vet (an excuse I had already come up with). He said he was sorry I felt the way that I put in the letter, and asked what I was hoping to get out of sending it and what I wanted in a relationship with him. I had already told him in the letter that I didn’t know and I don’t know how long it’ll take me to figure out. He asked me a bunch of things that I had already explained in the letter, and I pretty much just ended up repeating it to him, which was exactly what I didn’t want. I was pretty done and trying to wrap up the conversation when he said “I wouldn’t say I was a bad dad though, right? You and your mom and your brother had a good lifestyle and we went on trips sometime.”
At that point I realized he was never even really going to try to see things from my perspective. Sure we were financially well off until I was in middle school
and he got fired for being drunk at work and then was hospitalized for months due to pancreatitis which did quite a number on the family finances. Sure he didn’t physically abuse anybody, but he would throw shit at us and yell an inch from our faces. We were still scared of him. I told him I had been scared of him as a child and I still have an instinctive fear response to him when I can tell he isn’t happy, even though he knows better that to raise his voice to me now. If I had kids I think I’d be devastated if they told me they were afraid of me.
Anywho, I was done and started wrapping things up. I just wanted to get out of there. He seemed so chuffed and was like “I’m really glad we talked about this. I hope we can get to the point where we can go on trips together. How long do you think that will take?” “After the vet appointment where do you want to go to dinner?”. I told him I couldn’t eat dinner with him and left.
He’s completely diluted and self centered. That conversation was the last push I needed to cut him out of my life. I’d love to talk to his therapist to see what kind of nonsense he spouts. I still haven’t blocked his #, but I decided to give it a year before completely blocking him just in case he has a miraculous realization. Based on his messages so far, and thinking back to how he tried to steamroll over everything I wanted when we last met up, I’m not regretting my choice.
ORIGINAL POST (including update to original post):
I’ve written a letter and I don’t know if I should send it
My dad has been sober for a long time but his behavior is pretty much the same. I’ve written him a letter about how he make me feel and makes me feel now and I’m in the process of working up the courage to email it to him.
Has anybody ever done something like this? What kind of effect has it had?
EDIT: I sent it and he said he was going to take a while to think about what I said. I’m glad I sent it even if it doesn’t change anything. I just wanted to know for sure that he knew my perspective, so I can hold him 100% accountable for everything.
