How can I get help? Is this the right time?
2023.06.03 08:34 DriverSensitive7126 How can I get help? Is this the right time?
Hi! I’m a girl starting college soon, and it’s been really stressing me out.
During school, I struggled with getting assignments done at a reasonable time. My mind will freeze up doing exams and written assignments. 30 mins assignments took me an hour to do. However, I have always been strong at writing. Starting high school, I was placed under a 504 plan for extended time. It helped me a lot in the classroom, but not as much outside of school with extracurriculars and home life. I barely got 3-5 hours of sleep a night trying to finish assignments for four years. In recent meetings, I talked to my coordinator about my plan. I was placed under having “slow cognitive speed”, but she pointed it out being a general term.
I grew up with a parent and sibling who have ADD, Anxiety, OCD and Autism. Recently, my mom has brought up I have similar symptoms as them, but I have never been checked out because of me being fine at doing schoolwork. These past couple of days, I’ve been thinking about what she said. Since I was a little kid, I stimmed through flapping my hands and shaking objects. I struggled with loud noises and socializing, leading to me being pulled from recess to read by myself and being placed in “lunch bunch” groups throughout schooling. When I was a kid, I used to have intrusive thoughts leading to panic attacks and tics such as fluttering my eyelids. Currently socializing, I overthink about interactions with people days later and struggle with maintaining friendships.
I’ve never been diagnosed with anything or ever seen a professional specializing in mental health. I’ve been able to keep high grades throughout school, and many people see me as quiet but studious. I’m scared of the sleep deprivation trying to keep up in high school translating into college. Being slow at school work has been a great self-esteem crusher.
I’m wondering if I should talk to someone before college. I’ve had accommodations for 4 years, and I’m unsure how they’re handled in college. My family and I are not at the best place financially, so I’m also wondering if I should just wait. Any advice on what steps to take are really appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I hope you have an amazing day!

2023.06.03 08:32 major_baisuki Unfair behaviour and exploitation by Professor
I've served as a teaching assistant in one of my university organizations. As of this semester, I have been with them for a year. I was offered this position by the professor the previous semester. I was happy because I always wanted to work for them and it came with a stipend.
PREVIOUS SEMESTER:
I accepted the job and began working diligently for the organization. I even woke up till 5 am to complete the tasks assigned to me even neglecting my academics. As my exams approached I slowed down the work a bit and the Prof blamed me for lagging behind. Having completed my desk's work, I started focusing more on my academics, since I knew my practicals were suffering. The Prof wanted me to take on another desk's work as we were running short of people. I made myself very clear to him saying I've been working day and night for you and now you want me to handle another person's work. This is unacceptable. But he turned it against me and blamed me for talking rudely to a professor and not maintaining decorum. I felt guilty of doing that so I took on the work and laboured another week or two. In the end, I got 100 per cent of my stipend. However, I was not satisfied because he got out of me two individual's work instead of just one and my CGPA suffered.
THIS SEMESTER:
Got into a heated argument with the professor as he targeted me for one of my colleagues' mistakes. He put the whole blame on me and didn't even listen to my side of the story properly. He said I hadn't achieved anything remarkable and ignored my work. I felt insulted by that. It took a toll on my mental health as I was also suffering physical ailments. After that, I again started working hard for the organization and continued on the same cycle of waking up late. I had a learning assistant at my desk who did the same. I tried to keep her involved in every task and update her constantly. After my desk's major tasks were done we were told to "lay-off" by the prof and focus on other tasks. We started doing that but he kept targeting me and my assistant telling us we could leave if we didn't want to contribute anymore. I replied back by specifying how his unprofessional taunts are not helping at all. Even though we both have worked hard he's disregarding everything we've done and claiming we haven't done anything. He called me personally and said my defensive behaviour would not help me in the future. Any industry hiring me will kick me out after some time because of this attitude. He even said because of me my learning assistant's potential has been wasted as I gave her wrong teachings. He has also commented about my friends. Today I got my teaching assistant review and he deducted 30 per cent of my stipend and directly blamed me for my learning assistant's shortcomings.
I don't know what can be done in this situation but I feel exploited and mentally abused.
Thank you for reading if you've stuck till now.

2023.06.03 05:32 KomradeSims Update Notes: June 1, 2023
Welcome to June, and also the latest Project: Gorgon update! This update contains a new much-requested skill, Angling, as well as new UI features, quests, balancing, and a ton of bug fixes.
Bugs! Update: the following are known bugs in this update -- no need to report them. If you see OTHER bugs, please report them!
- Animal forms are able to angle - kind of - and that is unintentional. Angling is intended to require hands.
- The Angling ability 'Catch and Release' gives 25% XP, not 25% bonus XP.
- You can target certain angling fish before they exist. You shouldn't be able to target them at all.
- Some of the angling abilities have old test descriptions.
- The new AoE indicator doesn't display in some outdoor areas.
Main Story
We've expanded the main story quest-line by a few steps. If you've already reached the point in the storyline where you were asked to have dinner with Jessina (via a hang out), the hang out is now available, and you should log in to see that your character has a "reminder quest" to hang out with Jessina.
New Camera Types
Players come to us from different games with different control schemes and camera views, and they often ask us if we can imitate the camera styles they're used to. So we gave it a try! We know that getting movement behavior just right can be tricky, so
please give us feedback on how these work for you.
There are now 3 camera types to choose from, located in Settings > Controls:
- Traditional Camera: How the camera has always worked. Right-click rotates your character, left-click rotates only the camera. Mouse is always available.
- Free Camera: Camera control is completely separate from character control. Mouse is always available.
- Action Camera: Mouse movement always controls character. Mouse cursor is only available when a UI window is open, or when the Toggle Cursor key is pressed (configurable). NOTE: only available in the new selection system!
AoE Visibility
Area-of-Effect abilities that are centered on the caster now have a visualization for their range.
- When an ability is used, the AOE range briefly displays on the ground as a circle.
- When an AOE ability icon is hovered over, its AOE range displays on the ground for as long as it's hovered over.
- Visibility is configurable via Settings > GUI > Windows & HUD > Abilities & Items > "Show Beneficial AOE Areas" & "Show Detrimental AOE Areas". By default they are "Party Members Only" & "Self Only" respectively. Detrimental enemy AOEs will always display.
- Many "aura"-type pets display their aura ranges in a similar fashion, such as a druid's Healing Sanctuary or a fairy's Fae Conduit. These should also follow the visibility settings described above.
- Note: as of this update, all AoE abilities are centered on the caster, except for two Weather Witching abilities that are explicitly centered on the target. Previously, all AoEs were centered on the target, but the game didn't say that anywhere, and most players assumed it was centered on the caster! So this seems much more intuitive. But if there are specific AoE abilities that you feel should be centered on the target instead of the caster, please let us know and we'll consider it.
Angling
Traditionally, fishing in Project: Gorgon has involved scooping fish up out of the water with your bare hands -- what we might call 'tickling' the fish. And that's fine, as far as it goes. It takes real skill! But not all fish can be caught this way. (And more importantly, players have told us that an MMO "needs" to have traditional fishing in order to feel like a complete MMO.)
So we've expanded Fishing with a new sub-skill: Angling. All you need is a fishing pole, some bait, and a body of water with catchable fish. (Also Fishing 15. And hands!) In order to get started, talk to Roshun the Traitor in Serbule.
The precise mechanics of Angling aren't spelled out in the game at the moment. Since this game focuses on exploration, we expect players to be able to figure out how Angling works. Please let us know what parts of the system were hard to figure out, and we'll work to make those bits more obvious.
Skills & Abilities
From here out (and probably through the rest of beta), we'll be making small balance changes. We don't want to overnerf/overbuff things, so most changes will be relatively modest, and then we'll re-evaluate and adjust further after more observation.
Warden: We've revised the formulae used for damage reflection, which resulted in nerfs to Privacy Field. On the other hand, multiple bug fixes actually increase the Warden's power significantly in other ways.
- Privacy Field abilities: reduced base ability damage (Privacy Field 5 changed from 196 -> 138)
- Treasure: "Privacy Field deals +60 damage to all melee attackers, and the first melee attacker is knocked away": 60 => 42
- Treasure: "Privacy Field also deals its damage when you are hit by burst attacks, and damage is +86": 86 => 47
- Treasure: "Privacy Field also deals its damage when you are hit by ranged attacks, and damage is +57": 57 => 48
- Treasure: "When Privacy Field deals damage, it also ignites the suspect, dealing 156 damage over 12 seconds": => 156 => 80. Note: previously this effect did not work at all, so this is technically a huge buff, not a nerf!
- Treasure: "While Privacy Field is active, melee attacks that hit you have a 100% chance to restore 20 Power to you" : 100% chance => 75% chance. Note: previously this effect did not work at all, so this is technically a huge buff, not a nerf!
- Treasure: "Apprehend deals +48 damage and hastens the current reuse timer of Controlled Burn by 2 seconds (so it can be used again more quickly)" : 2 seconds -> 1.5 seconds. Note: previously this effect did hasten Control Burn at at all, so this is technically a huge buff, not a nerf!
- Controlled Burn: area-of-effect reduced from 15 meters to 10 meters.
- Aggression Deterrent: area-of-effect reduced from 10 meters to 6 meters.
Weather Witch: - New ability Summon Sandstorm: This is a variant of Summon Tornado intended to be more convenient in groups. It does not knock back foes, instead dealing bonus Armor damage. All tiers of this ability can be learned from the Sand Seer in Ilmari.
- New rare ability Summon Doomstorm: This is a variant of Summon Tornado. It does not knock back foes. Instead it deals Darkness damage. Damage is improved over base version. This pet is marked as undead for purposes of ability targeting. In other words, heals that don't work on undead don't work on this pet either. Buffs that work on undead DO work on this pet. For now, all tiers of this ability can be found as loot scrolls.
- Fixed bug that caused high-level summoned tornados to move incredibly fast. Normalized tornado speeds.
- Summoned tornadoes accidentally had vulnerability stats for Cold Spheres. They now correctly have vulnerability stats for Tornadoes.
Giant Bat: - "Your Confusing Double deals +67% damage with each attack": 67% => 45%
- "Confusing Double summons an additional figment. Each figment deals +77 damage with each attack": 77 => 50
- "Confusing Double Reuse Timer -15": -15 => -10
Fire Magic: - "Fire Breath hits all targets within 8 meters and deals +30.5% damage, but reuse timer is +3 seconds and Power cost is +33%" => "Fire Breath hits all targets within 8 meters and deals +60 damage, but reuse timer is +3 seconds and Power cost is +40"
Settings
- The "Reset" button in Settings now resets the currently-selected tab to its default settings. The old functionality, undoing all current changes, is still doable by simply closing the window.
- Added new experimental settings for Tab Targeting. You can find them in settings under GUI > Targeting > Tab Targeting (Experimental).
- Combat Range: Control the max range of tab targeting when you are in combat.
- Combat Lock: If your current target is in combat, only other in-combat enemies will be targeted via tab, unless none are in view.
- Prioritize Unlooted Corpses: When tabbing through corpses, should all un-looted corpses be targeted before looted corpses?
- You can now tab through targets as quickly as you can press the button.
- Overwriting a keybind that's already bound now shows a confirmation prompt, including the name of the keybind being overwritten.
- Reorganized and renamed several Settings, to make them more intuitively grouped and easier to find.
UI Changes
- "Controls" settings have been organized into Camera & Character controls, with sub-menus.- Allow clicking through entities in the new UI, similar to how it works in the old UI. If you click on something that's already selected, it selects the entity behind it (if there is one).
- Reduced precision of click-selecting entities, so they can be selected without hovering directly over them.
- All stat bars (and globes) now smoothly animate when they change, instead of statically changing to the new value.
- Item stack size font now resizes properly for vaults (including saddlebag).
- Fixed nameplate placement for mounted humanoids.
- Fixed bug causing mouse cursor to disappear completely if mouse-dragging while zoning.
- Fixed bug that caused very large tooltips not to display sometimes.
- Removed hover-text about avatar portraits coming soon -- because they're here now! We live in the future!
- Ability tooltips now display Special Values before Special Info, as those make more sense grouped together with the other numerical data.
- Polished the lootable-corpse particles a bit.
- Nameplates now fully fade out with distance instead of just the names.
- Better handling of left-clicking nothing to deselect your current target.
- Improved display of Crafting button when no hotkey is assigned.
- Fixed quest window display bug when objective count number was very large.
- Removed the "1" from the item slot in the bug report window.
- Fixed bug causing stack sizes of items in the sidebar to get out of sync.
Graphics & Animation
- Wolves & cows now animate at proper speed when going up and down hills.
- Replaced wolf's Hunting Speed animation with a howl animation.
- Polished bard animations, so they flow together better now. The play-lute animation now always plays when you are playing a bard song, even if you use other abilities while playing the song.
- Improved instrument-playing animations.
- New VFX (animations, particles, & shader effects) for all Battle Chemistry abilities.
- You can no longer auto-move while jumping. Doing so previously resulted in some very strange-looking animations.
- Fixed weird animation bug when trying to do certain things while sitting or kneeling.
- Failure to interact with something now returns the player to idle stance.
- Fixed bug with Thentree armor causing weird shadows on male characters.
- Mage Armor is now more polished, a bit darker, and has glowier gems
- Fixed bug that would cause a dancing pig's mud to stick around forever.
- Fixed bug where mounting while dancing would continue some dancing effects.
- Improved texture for Spring Fairy armor.
- Fixed face cam for Pigeons.
Other Bug Fixes & Tweaks
- Some legacy equipment that should have been Mastercrafted wasn't. Those items should be fixed now.
- When you un-legacy equipment by pulling an invalid power off of it at the transmutation table, the legacy and broken state of that equipment is now properly updated.
- Fixed bug allowing recipe items to be summoned from anywhere.
- Updated Shadow Feint tooltip to display the correct AOE distance for blinking back to position.
- Phrenology-based Mentalism & Psychology bonuses to critical chance now properly affect heals.
- Improved logic related to channeling abilities; this should hopefully fix stuck-in-channel bugs.
- Modified Mutation Injection ability descriptions to make it a bit clearer how they work.
- Lycanthropy ability "Become Wolf": the skill check to disable wolf mode is no longer downleveled when your combat skills are downleveled.
- Newly learned abilities, Wild Endurance, & First Aid should now correctly auto-rerank.
- Dying by falling through the world now shows a special button in the death window, "Teleport to Last-Touched Ground", which teleports your dead body to the last ground you were standing on. While this isn't an ideal solution, it should allow you to be revived in party situations
- Fixed bug causing skeleton warrior pets to repeatedly retreat a short distance when fighting something.
- Astounding Cloth Shirt (Max-Enchanted) and Camouflaged Astounding Shirt (Max-Enchanted) recipes now require the correct ingredients.
- Pressing spacebar while in an animal-mount form will no longer play the horse neighing sound.
- Fixed typo in Evasion Boots (Enchanted) recipes.
- Changed icon color for Acid Bomb to more of an acid-y color (and match the new VFX).
- Acid Boost Potion recipe now correctly states that it lasts 30 minutes.
- Fixed typo in quest "Holistic Wellness: Yarn" (twelve -> twenty-four balls of yarn).
- The tsys mod, "Psi Health Wave grants all targets +X Mitigation vs. Electricity, Acid, and Nature attacks for 20 seconds" now displays in the effects list when it's active.
- Fixed Dwarven Fixer causing screen brightness (instead of hiding it).
- "Toxic Flesh" tooltip now takes poison damage buffs into account.
- Using Objective Orienteering on "The Borghild Lead" quest now leads to the correct area.
- Fixed typo in quest "The Borghild Lead" (south -> north).
- Harry now hints more strongly that his Minor Panacea will not cure ALL curses, just a specific one.
- The quest "Goblin Avenger: Ratkin!!!" now correct gives 10 Xedrite.
- JSON users: Note that in skills.json's level-up rewards, "Ability" can now refer to a single ability or an array of abilities.

Ukraine has allegedly sabotaged Zaporizhia to melt down like Chernobyl, to stop the Russian invasion and justify NATO peacekeepers.
Here's Biden's plan to avoid another Kabul:
- NATO operators sabotaged the ZNPP backup diesel generator fuel storage, causing it to leak.
- NATO is targeting diesel fuel shipments. See captured Ukro saboteurs with NLAWs.
- When diesel reaches zero, Ukros will shell the lone power line, breaking it for the 8th time.
- Up to 6x Chernobyl meltdown ensues. Territory Russia captured is ruined.
- NATO establishes "no-fly zone" and sends "peacekeepers".
Russo-China rejects Biden
"Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to fuck things up." – Barack Obama
Clearly we underestimated him. Americans can hardly believe that Biden blew up Nord Stream 2, essentially attacking our
colony "ally" Germany. Perhaps they're still reeling from Kabul falling faster than Hanoi.
Normally Russia endeavors to cooperate with the sitting US president. However, Russian state media has begun airing the Hunter Biden laptop images, of Hunter engaged in drugs and pedophilia with preteen girls. This is retaliation for Biden crossing Russia's red line by repeatedly trying to sabotage Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). That's why Russia is willing to assist in the impeachment of a sitting US president, which is obviously an extreme step to take between two countries with enough nukes to blot out the Sun.
Rumor has it that China has also turned on Biden, which would make sense: China's economic backing allows Russia to survive US sanctions. China wants Taiwan, and Russia wants East Ukraine. They would be stupid not to cooperate.

ZNPP as potential Chernobyl
A Redditor explains:
Kawaii-Gopnik Russia really needs that powerplant without any leak, to provide industry of surrounding regions with energy, but very few people understand contexts of the current situation: Soviets built complicated and very well ballanced energy system, including not only NPP, but also cascade of hydro power plants. Donetsk, Dnepr, Zaporozhe and Kharkov regions are just one big power hungry plant. NPP itself is reliant on hydropower and quality of water in Dnepr river. In case of really bad "accident" Russia will forget about development of the newly accuired regions, lack of energy produced by NPP is significant, nearly 30-40%. Accident will affect south of Ukraine with russian majority. It will also be also disaster for ecology of the WHOLE Black Sea. Rose of winds will spread nuclear dust to the West - Poland, Romania, Czechia and further. Nuclear zone will stop russian army from further territorial expansion. This will be border formed by Dnepr and nuclear zones.
The basic facts are documented by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Even while shut down, ZNPP needs external power grid or diesel to prevent its reactors from overheating.
Russia controls ZNPP. A nuclear "accident" would give NATO pretext to intervene, so Ukraine keeps trying to cause one.
How bad is this? Well, Chernobyl is in Ukraine. That was a 1k MW reactor. ZNPP has six. It is the 9th largest NPP in the world.
Hopefully the containment response would be much better than Chernobyl's, but that's hardly something to count on during WW3. Russia's nuclear doctrine includes pre-emptive strikes; who knows what they'd do. The USSR nearly launched twice during the Cold War.
Imagine if China assisted Texas in seceding from the USA to rejoin Mexico, and then caused a reactor meltdown at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant when the USA retook it. A lot of Southerners would want to lob a few nukes back at China. They might demand it.
It is foolish to assume WW3 will not happen because it hasn't happened yet. One should look instead at the historical record of continual warfare, and the difficulties in preventing WW3 so far:
- List of nuclear close calls Wikipedia
- WW3: Historical close calls Wikipedia
Thus one cannot rule out a radiation release 6x as bad as Chernobyl. Not that Ukraine needs anything so dramatic. It merely seeks a pretext to justify direct NATO intervention to "protect" ZNPP. A small leak will suffice.
Even if there is a major radiation leak, it will occur in Russian-annexed separatist territory, and help Ukraine defend her new border. Scorched earth is a valid tactic, whether the fire is conventional or nuclear. Ukraine survived Chernobyl and knows it can survive ZNPP too.
Biden's Ukraine is desperate enough for scorched-earth tactics
Battle of the Bulge at Bakhmut
"We have been working on the counter-offensive with Ukraine for 4-5 months." – Victoria Nuland
Why is Ukraine so desperate?
Ukraine depends on NATO aid to fight Russia. NATO aid depends on Democrat willingness. Democrat willingness depends on US public support. Therefore the illusion must be maintained to the American public that Ukraine is winning. For this reason, Ukraine has committed its reserves to a costly failed counter-offensive. Bakhmut fell regardless.
James A. Donald summarizes the strategic picture:
So, bright new plan. "The Greatest Ukrainian Offensive". The Ukraine would build up a big reserve of fresh troops, then suddenly hurl large chunks of them at particular points on the front. They would, the Americans planned, cut through a point in the front lines, penetrate to Russian rear areas, wreak havoc on those areas, and force Russian troops in danger of being encircled to hastily retreat from territory that had been slowly gained at enormous cost in grinding attritive warfare. I do not know how big the Ukrainian strategic reserve was, but if it was two hundred fifty thousand, they have now committed most of them to grinding attritive warfare, and cupboard is looking as bare of men as it is of artillery and rockets.
The USA expected to break Russia economically; China's economic support prevented that. Despite PMC Wagner's heartfelt complaints, Russia is unlikely to run out of convicts anytime soon. Russia is rotating divisions through Ukraine, seasoning reservists for a looming WW3. Russia's historical appetite for losses is much higher than its current losses. This is essentially a civil war, and the Russia bear considers being carved up an existential threat. By underestimating Russia's resolve, NATO is repeating the error of Napoleon and Hitler.
Despite having plenty of weapons, Ukraine's military manpower is exhausted and demoralized. Raw conscripts are thrown at the front lines with minimal training. Medvedev predicts that the Ukraine will cease to exist; half its people have already fled.
Anonymous Sat 27 May 2023 04:59:49 No.428438077 Report 428437208 Yeah, the killing has been excessive since they pretty much destroyed 95% of Azov fags and assorted true believers in the first 200k dead, now they overshot it by 100%. About 12% of the non-Russian speaking population's prime military aged men in Ukraine are dead or crippled. 12-20% of the same demographic has fled the country. It's over, desu. They are seeing much more of the polish and romanian mercs now, since they literally lack the manpower.
Western mass media wrongly assumes that Russia is losing because it does not take the entirety of Ukraine in a blitz, as the USA did to Iraq. However, Russia does not want West Ukraine; the people there do not like Russians. Russia has captured the territory it wants, and is now using the rest of Ukraine as a kettle or cauldron, in which to conveniently destroy whatever NATO wishes to send. This is a good way for Russia to gradually learn how to fight NATO armies in a low-risk environment.
The Spartans had a rule never to war too often against the same enemy, lest they train up a nemesis. It was foolish of NATO to believe that Russia had forgotten the lessons of attrition warfare that it learned so recently in Afghanistan.
Nehming Names 9h Russia's prudent caution in directly engaging the West is bringing dividends in perhaps unexpected ways. Russia is gaining strategic knowledge of the actual capabilities and weaknesses of our weapon systems and military tactics, with our supply of munitions draining to militarily unsustainable levels, as it engages allied forces in Ukraine. Russia is aware of the continuing progress of the Great Awakening in the West, that is, the knowledge that Western governments, military, and institutions are run by an elite hostile to their heritage populations, and therefore expects to see declining support of Western governments by their citizens. Russia can also see the precipitous decrease in every societal metric in the West: social cohesiveness, general morality, public health, financial stability, military readiness, etc. With these three degradative processes in play, the most strategic thing Russia and China can do is to bide their time, as time itself will act to sap the strength of the West to militarily engage their foes.
Fresh meat
Russian conquest of Kiev would air Biden's dirty laundry to the world, from Burisma kickbacks to pedophilic field trips and worse. This would result in US "regime change". A distant Chernobyl is a small price to pay, for top Democrats to avoid the hangman's noose.
Poland is itching to invade. Victoria Nuland is scheduling NATO air exercises. USAF propaganda asserts that Russia's air force is a joke. The question is, do Americans still believe Biden's false prophets of victory?
If not, they just need a little "encouragement": 9/11, Gulf of Tonkin, Pearl Harbor, Lusitania, Remember the Maine… Keep those rural Whites busy lest they make trouble at home!
Most Americans cannot find Ukraine on a map. (To be fair, it hasn't been on the map very long.) However, the architects of Biden's Ukraine policy, such as Victoria Nuland, Jake Sullivan, Antony Blinken and George Soros, tend to have grandparents of Eastern European origin. I am sure for them it feels important. There's no place like home.
A Redditor explains:
tinglevibestoo I listened to a former CIA agent talk about Ukraine the other day. He said that Ukraine is running out of time. It's not that they don't have the weapons. We've sent them a ton of weapons. It's that they don't have enough troops and they're running low on troops. That's how Russia will win. Ukraine can't sustain the manpower. It totally makes sense to use a nuclear false flag as a reason to bring in the extra manpower. Everyone would deem it justified too because it's a threat to the neighboring nations and it'd be an environmental (climate change) catastrophe.
Teixeira leaks
Some will bring up the US intelligence leaks by Jack Teixeira to support the idea that Russia rather than Ukraine is desperate. Unlike Snowden, Teixeiera was obviously a major security risk for patriotically-motivated leaking, with numerous red flags in his previous and ongoing behavior. Therefore Teixeira was probably a deliberate leak by US intelligence, using a patsy to generate the initial leak and then add whatever extra info they wanted released in the resulting confusion.
- Jack Teixeira Wikipedia
- Discord member details how documents leaked from closed chat group Washington Post
Teixeira's leaks served several purposes for the Biden administration:
- Allowed the mainstream media to walk back their false forecasts of Ukrainian victory.
- Provided a right-wing scapegoat for Ukraine's defeat.
- Justified increased social media monitoring and censorship.
Most importantly, it mitigated the potential political fallout from another catastrophe like Kabul, should Kiev fall.
The 4chan leaker BB/Inb4source asserts Teixeira was a patsy.
BRICS vs NATO
The foundation of the US empire is the petrodollar, which allows the USA to tax the world via digital debt seignorage. This is why the creation of BRICS as an independent financial and trading system rendered war between NATO and BRICS inevitable, as Kim Dotcom predicted. The US republic is a thalassocratic empire as arrogant as democratic Athens, and it is addicted to financial plunder. The Empire cannot afford to lose the USD's reserve currency status.
Reserve currencies and empires both have lifespans, and the USA has reached the end of both. It is at the stage where hubristic foreign misadventures prove fatal, and Ukraine and Taiwan will prove too much for the American eagle to handle. This is no longer WW2; the USA cannot win a two-front war against BRICS.
- Gold Reserve Fiat Currencies Monetary Gold
- World Reserve Currencies last on average 100 years. The US dollar has been the reserve currency for 76 years. Satoshi Chris
That is why Biden's NATO is desperate; the Empire is unravelling as the European Union and other allies such as Turkey and India lose their faith in NATO.
The fact that none of this is common knowledge speaks volumes about who controls public schools and owns mass media corporations.
ZNPP's weak point is diesel fuel
The situation at ZNPP is tenuous and grim, workers report:
Europe’s largest nuclear power station is on the frontline of the Ukraine war. SkyNews Twitter
The fact that the backup diesel reactors have not been maintained is particularly concerning, considering they have already been used 7 times.
UN nuclear chief raises alarm over Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia plant Al Jazeera
Ukraine keeps trying to force a crisis at ZNPP to justify NATO intervention. In other words, Ukraine keeps shelling ZNPP to cut the one power line that still connects it to the grid.
Atlas
This is extremely dangerous, external power is required for reliable cooling of the reactors and pools containing spent nuclear waste. Western media spent months last year pretending Kiev wasn’t shelling ZNPP.
Notice that the Russian side keeps ZNPP connected to the power grid, while the Ukrainian side pretends it cannot until the Russian invasion ends:

- Russian nuclear terrorism in action: ZNPP switches to emergency generators for the 7th time Ukrainian World Congress
- Kiev blocked all IAEA’s initiatives on ZNPP security — Russian Foreign Ministry
- Grossi says Zaporizhzhia principles 'step in right direction' IAEA
As you can see, Ukraine is not interested in being reasonable. Russia is happy to leave the NPP free of heavy military equipment, but Ukraine demands the removal of all troops and landmines from ZNPP as well. That would leave the plant undefended, which is obviously unacceptable.
(This is how perverse incentives work. A little ally with nothing to lose can start a world war. It's almost like dividing the world into two hostile nuclear alliances is a bad idea.)
When ZNPP loses external power, huge diesel generators automatically switch on to keep the reactors cool. How much diesel does this consume? Truckloads per day:
Anonymous Sat 27 May 2023 05:18:50 No.428439721 Report Quoted By: >>428463646 428436425 Still easy to transport diesel enough to keep them going In what? If NATO ops and Mercs are sabotaging trucks coming in, what do you think they are gonna carry diesel in to the plant? Is Russia gonna pack in rotopack Jerry cans on their back. Fill a truck up with 5 gallon cans and hope they make it past the snipers and sabotage? Do you have any clue how much fuel those big generators suck down in a day? Those generators to run the plants during shut down or failures are huge 500kw or bigger they are the size of whole 18 wheeler trailers. Those things will drink 50 gallons an hour. You gonna haul in 2.5 gallon rotopacks one at a time to keep it going?
Nuclear power plants have tough shielding. Allegedly the diesel generators are hidden underground. However, the diesel fuel supply is still vulnerable.
Normally the diesel generators have enough fuel for 10 days. However, ZNPP's diesel stockpile recently dipped to 4 days, according to 4chan leaker Inb4source.
Ukrainian saboteurs caught by ZNPP
On May 27, Ukraine accused Russian of planning to cause a leak at ZNPP:
OSINTdefender The Main Directorate of Intelligence for Ukraine has announced that the Russian Military is preparing for Large-Scale Provocation in the coming hours at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in Southern Ukraine that will reportedly Simulate an “Accident” at the Plant causing the Emergency Leak of Radioactive Substances which will be Blamed on Ukrainian Forces.
Then Russia announced it had caught saboteurs (presumably Ukrainian) in ZNPP's city:
Saboteurs who were preparing terrorist attacks on the NPP were detained in Energodar. They had with them maps and schematics of the nuclear power plant with marks for strikes that could lead to a nuclear catastrophe. The suspects are involved in collecting and transmitting information about the facilities of the Zaporozhye NPP on the instructions of the Ukrainian authorities. To communicate with the curators, they used foreign satellite systems, as well as foreign weapons for strikes and equipment for conducting reconnaissance and sabotage activities.
- Translated source message is from Telegram group Slavyangrad Chat.
- Original source message is in Russian from Telegram group WarDonbass, sent May 28 at 23:12.
Enerhodar is the city that contains the ZNPP: See Enerhodar Wikipedia
Some object that the footage is "staged". Of course it is staged. The primary consumer of the helmet-cam footage is Russian military intelligence. The evidence shot was staged for their benefit. The short edited video that was released to the public has distorted voices, and avoids showing any faces. Thus even if the footage is authentic, it is still "staged".
The ZNPP maps displayed in the video don't appear to match the announcement text. The maps could simply show where diesel fuel trucks need to go. Russia does not wish to advertise the specific nature of ZNPP's vulnerability.
The saboteurs appear to be 3-man team, equipped with 3 rifles and 3 NLAW missile launchers.
The saboteurs had 5 frag grenades. Normally soldiers carry 2 or 3 grenades, but heavy weapons soldiers don't have to. The three smooth grenades are RGD-5s, a cheap outdated Russian model. The Russian troops removed the fuses from the grenades on the evidence table to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Some object that Ukrainian saboteurs wouldn't be so careless as to have printouts of the reactor map. However, the saboteurs' presence in Enerhodar already makes their target obvious. Presumably multiple teams were sent to intercept Russian diesel shipments.
The Enerhodar saboteurs would've been notified when satellites spotted their target. Until then, they should hide in the safehouse behind blackout curtains to avoid detection. The fact that these saboteurs were caught napping suggests a degree of incompetence, compared to other teams who presumably either avoided detection or fought back. One can assume that Ukrainian specops have suffered extreme casualties.
BB / Red Skull / Inb4source / Q
BB sent Q
Qanon has lost a tremendous amount of popularity, as patriots grew disillusioned with the slow pace of the promised Great Awakening. They did not understand that Q is subordinate to a higher power with an agenda that does not necessarily include their survival.
Q aimed to help Trump save the USA. Q was sent by "Burning Bush", whose agenda is
judging humanity, on the eve of WW3 and runaway de-terraforming. BB's personas started posting to 4chan's
pol by 2016, whereas Q started in October 2017. (4chan is like the wild west of the Web: The world's spooks congregate there to exchange intelligence.)
BB goes by several nicknames; he began posting anonymously as "Inb4source" in 2016. A recent message implies the USA/Israel is Babylon the Great, and God (meaning him) has returned to judge her:
The world has turned it's back on *od now *od Is turning His back on the world. He Who Lets has been REMOVED. THE ANGEL OF DEATH HAS COME THE HARVEST OF THE TARES HAS BEGUN. And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory. (Earthquake Lights) And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies. And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. Reward her even as she rewarded you, and double unto her double according to her works: in the cup which she hath filled fill to her double. How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. (nothing ever happens) Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. And the kings of the earth, who have committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall bewail her, and lament for her, when they shall see the smoke of her burning, inb4source
BB claims responsibility for the historical pendulum swinging rightward, via figures such as Elon Musk. His method of influence is the butterfly effect.
"Burning Bush" claims to be God. One can think of him as the God of the Old Testament, or as a pagan god like Zeus, or as merely a transcendent extraterrestrial. However, he also claims to inhabit a human-looking body, lives on a ranch in the USA, has children, caught COVID19, etc.
Whatever one's theology, the relevant portion of BB's message is that the USA did not sufficiently embrace the opportunity offered by Q. Anyone who has read the Old Testament knows what happens next: Ignore the prophet, reap the consequences. Thus Q's slogan "Nothing Can Stop What Is Coming" should be understood in the Biblical sense, like Noah's flood: The Ark is optional.
(As far as I know, Q is still posting to Truth Social. I don't follow that site.)
Paul Furber is the chief priest of BB. Before that, he was a major early proponent of Q. See Furber's book for many verifiable examples of fulfilled predictions and proven scoops.
BB normally identifies himself by the unique image hash of his burning bush picture. (Nobody can generate that hash unless they possess the original image.) However, BB also posts as an anon users nickname "Red Skull", for his signature images of red skulls. As Red Skull, BB avoids the extravagant Biblical claims of BB, but the style and modus operandi and interests are obviously the same – as are his implied godlike powers.
I recommend focusing on facts and trying to prevent nuclear WW3, rather than getting hung up on theology. BB is not asking anyone to worship him or sacrifice chickens. He does prescribe prayer and a life of action governed by virtue.
I certainly do not recommend taking everything anonymous spooks say at face value. If you are, like most people, unable to think in shades of gray between binary true and false, this essay is above your reading level.
BB warns Zaporizhia is pivotal
BB has repeatedly warned that keeping Zaporizhia intact is critical to the survival of NATO citizenry:
the Ukrainians attacking the Nuclear Power station in the hands of the Russians spewing radiation over enough territory that the Russians will turn Kiev into a furnace.

Those who find it difficult to believe that nuclear weapons would be used in WW3 as in WW2 should note that COVID19 is already a bioweapon WMD deployed for WW3.
RS gives ZNPP sabotage warning
On the morning of May 27, BB's persona Red Skull leaked that NATO specops had sabotaged external power to ZNPP.
His scenario is plausible and severe enough to warrant investigation.
Here are relevant posts, datestamped 2023 May 27 0300-0500:
it's a little less than ten days… Until Nato SpecOps melt down the Uke Nuke plant and blames it on you.
He continues:
Nato SpecOps have sabotaged power to the nuke plant. As of this posting, 6 days of diesel fuel remain to provide power to pumps to cool the plant and spent fuel pool. Diesel shipments are being targeted and terminated.
He adds:
So now I need to tell you Russia intends a pre emptive strike if nuclear capable F16's are delivered.
On the evening of May 27, Red Skull updated:
Doesn't look good at Nuke Plant. Russia has 4 days to get more fuel to the generators. They are working on clearing a flight path. Ukraine will try to stop them on orders of U.S. Uniparty.
Sounds like a severe leak, to lose 2 days of fuel in under 24 hours.
Ukraine HVT: Nuclear tit for tat
On 28 May Red Skull asserted that:
- Ukraine just did an underground nuclear bomb test in a borehole, to contain the radiation.
- Russia may retaliate with a pre-emptive strike at any time, against 1-2 high-value targets.
- West Ukraine may be reduced to the stone-age.
Red Skull approved of this anon's summary:
Nuclear warheads that USA/UK sent. Specifically for the purpose of being exploded in Ukraine. The false flags will never stop until all out WW3 is declared, or until you root out the pedophile demon cult that is running the show and sending you monkeys to war. War for really no good reason at this point. The cities are destroyed, just withdraw. Ukraine is a kettle right now, a kill box. Do you understand what that means? And it was created on purpose.
On May 30, Putin announced that Russia had destroyed the Ukrainian military intelligence headquarters. Photos confirm the damage.

Intelligence chief Kyrylo Oleksiyovych Budanov may have died in the strike.
Inb4source / Red Skull 4chan posting history
Inb4source has posted on 4chan since 2016, but he doesn't always use an image hash identifier, making it impossible to verify the identity of all of his early posts. As his popularity grew, others began adopting his catchphrase ">inb4source".
18016 posts on
pol contain ">inb4source".
The first page of results suggests Inb4source is a pro-Trump military intelligence officer. He began posting in Aug 2016, before Trump's inauguration.
Another early Inb4source catchphrase is "I AM The Source." This has a double meaning, both theological and journalistic.
The catchphrase doesn't appear in every Inb4source post. Searching for it yields 437 results, too many of which are irrelevant results.
Searching for both phrases together yields 50 results that look to be mostly legitimate. One could then search for additional posts by each unique ID from a session.
Searching for image hashes is a reliable method of ID verification, assuming no one else has the image. I know of two such images that Inb4source/BB uses: both are red skulls, giving him the nickname RS.
RS just announced that his devices (phone, computers) have been compromised, casting doubt on the legitimacy of future RS posts. This may be a response to my publication of his warnings regarding Zaporizhia onto Reddit and Gab; the timing is suspicious. I first mentioned Inb4source on Reddit 7 days ago, and Red Skull on Gab yesterday (as of morning June 3). I do not know of any other analysts writing about him or connecting him to his BB persona.
When evaluating his warnings and predictions, remember that publishing info about ongoing events can affect the outcome, and is often intended to do so. Unlike the concept of Biblical prophecy, the future is mostly probabilistic. However, he is certainly good at scooping the news.
Someone else can do an in-depth Q-proof style analysis of his accuracy; my focus here is Zaporizhia.

2023.06.03 04:12 funky_fella_ I(18m) still love my ex(18f) and want to reconnect but I'm unsure of how to approach the issue.
(Trigger warning: SH/suicide)
Background information: Eva (fake name) and I are both 18 now but were dating from the age of 16 and have been friends for a few years outside of that. I (and my family) have a bit of a history of mental health problems that have been a large part of my life through my childhood and adolescence, especially since lockdown and the whole remote learning thing, and I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety disorder along with adhd and asd.
A few years ago I met Eva, and something seemed to just click. Although we were both still very young and romantic relationships were a thing for the far future, there was just an immediate connection and we became great friends very quickly. After about 3 years of friendship with a little flirting mixed in, I finally worked up the courage to ask her out. To my surprise, she said yes immediately (I imagine she had been waiting for a while).
Things started off strong and we were growing closer and closer over time, we did everything and I was happier than ever. At some point during summer last year my mental health started to worsen. Eva tried to be there for me and was always so supportive of me. However, I refused to seek or accept any help from the people around me or therapy. Although I didn't realise it then I was driving a wedge between us. This became especially clear in September when we returned to school, my attendance dropped and because of this I was spending less and less time with Eva and when we were together I was cold and withdrawn. I noticed that we were spending less time together and I made an attempt to fix things but I think I ended up making it all worse as I became very clingy because I was scared to lose her. Along with this, my increasing self-harm and our approaching mock A levels were driving stress through the roof for both of us.
At the start of November, less than a week before exam leave, I was saying goodbye to Eva as I left her outside her house when she suddenly turned very serious and told me that we should break up. I was stunned. I didn't know what to say. After a few long seconds of silence I asked her if we could just not do this now and talk about it properly another time but she had made up her mind. That was the longest walk home I've ever experienced. Nothing quite felt real, almost like I was dreaming. I got home and went straight to my room without talking to anyone and just sat for what felt like hours doing nothing, not even thinking. I just sat there staring out the window. Eventually I got my phone out and texted her, I put my heart and soul into that message explaining as best I could how I felt about her, how I was trying to get better and just how much I loved her. But she was adamant. She said that she was just stressed by exams and wanted to focus on herself, but unfortunately I know her too well and I could tell that I was the problem. I of course don't blame her. i don't think anyone wants to date a depressed suicidal time bomb that could go off at any point. But that didn't make it hurt any less and my self harm got significantly worse. In the week following I managed to distract myself by compulsively revising for the upcoming mocks which was pretty successful.
After the exams when school routine returned, I fell apart. With nothing to sufficiently distract me I was practically unable to think of anything other than Eva. I was in school for a few days and it quickly became too much. I could hardly get out of bed let alone go to school. I was in a downward spiral and I was getting worse and worse every day. Eventually it became too much and I snapped. In early December I attempted to end my own life. I won't go into details here because it's still a touchy topic for me. During this ordeal I sent a final goodbye message to Eva saying that I still loved her and I was sorry for how things ended. I eventually passed out and was awoken by my family and promptly went to the hospital where I was glued up and placed under watch. I stayed there for a few nights before I was let go after agreeing to start therapy. I was then diagnosed with depression and anxiety and started taking antidepressants.
I have since been on a journey to try and get better I've made an effort to do more things for myself such as picking up guitar again which is something I've always been passionate about but I hadn't been doing as much in the last year I've also started taking my dog to training which has got me out of the house and doing some exercise. I haven't, however, been in school much and my attendance has been at an all time low which obviously isn't great now that I'm doing my A levels but I've managed. I've also finally started talking therapy which took a hot minute to actually happen (thanks NHS and CAMHs). I'm lucky enough to have very supportive parents that have helped me along the way. I've even managed to largely be SH free since the incident, largely thanks to anything remotely sharp being locked in a safe, but I'll take the win. Throughout all of this though, the one thing I haven't been able to talk about is Eva and my relationship with her. My parents and therapist are aware of this and aren't pushy about it, but I know I'll have to confront it at some point. The thing is, I still love her. I still spend hours thinking about her, I still see her in my dreams. And every time I see her all these feelings come rushing back. the anger at myself, the emptiness i feel without her, and how happy she made me.
I guess I just need an outside view. Do I tell her how I feel? Do i just forget and move on? I feel either way I have to apologise for what I put her through and what a horrible person I must have been to be around. I don't know if I have any chance of rebuilding what we had but even if there's the smallest chance I feel I need to try. I need advice on how I should approach this. If at all, please help. And don't hit me with the 'your so young it just seems like a big deal' this isn't just a romantic relationship but also a great friendship that I greatly miss.
TLDR: following a breakup and my attempted suicide i still have feelings for my ex and want to reconnect but dont know how or if I should
(sorry for the grammar I'm a little stupid)

2023.06.03 03:36 Dan_Stainberg [Econ][Retro] Canada's bid to win Net Zero
Summary
The Inflation Reduction Act passed in the United Sates continues to mingle in background of Canadian policy-making, as massive subsidies from Washington make even the tax on carbon increasingly less efficient, with many leading Canadian companies opting to focus on their projects in the United States. With American carrots on clime policy, the Canadian stick becomes increasingly
less effective, as many business leaders see an ever growing policy uncertainty over whatever little of an invective Canada has to offer. This is especially prevalent for long-term decarbonisation projects, that would un-economical without either a
nation-wide price on carbon that forces companies to invest in going green, or a recast subsidy regime for green technologies that turn decarbonisation for an expensive exercise into a completive advantage.
While some people believe that abolishing the federal price on carbon on Canada would still allow the country to meet its Paris climate commitments, offsetting the lack of a "climate stick" with a carrot of additional subsidies, it's widely recognised to be an unlikely option. Canada simply doesn't have the either fiscal nor private capital firepower to compete with American incentives. Thus making a combination of a "clime stick" through a federal carbon price, complied with more modest positive incentives remains the only viable strategy to foster a nation-wide tradition to the green economy.
Federal pricing on pollution has also created increasings tensions between Ottawa and provinces, especially in Western Canada - a region traditionally dependent on natural renounce extraction and processing to support their economy, and generate energy. Thus, the main opposition party - the Conservative Party of Canada - that has traditionally viewed the West as their stronghold, has unsurprisingly
committed to repealing the federal price on carbon. Something that becomes increasingly likely as the the governing Liberals continue to fall behind the Tories in all provinces except Quebec. Therefore, putting the future of Canadian climate policy at risk.
You know, businesses hate uncertainty more than anything else.
To resolve this uncertainty, Canada is launching comprehensive hedging mechanism to guarantee a Pan-Canadian Price on pollution, especially on carbon emissions through Pollution
Pricing Contracts for Difference (PPCDs) - a proposal originally mentioned in the
Federal Budget 2023, is finally being rolled out across the country in 2024.
PPCD represents a contract between the Government of Canada and a private company that guarantees a nation-wide solution price remains above originally announced projects, such as $170 price per tonne of carbon emissions. If the price falls bellow bellow the original threshold at an expected date, the Government of Canada is set to cover the difference through direct subsidies to the given project and its investors.
To further strengthen the carbon pricing regime, the Government introduces the
"PPCD default provision" that allows any company in Canada to claim a fully refundable tax credit to fully compensate for estimated cost of carbon tax paid thought its operating period, including the gap between "would be" and an actual carbon price. Thus, if national carbon price falls bellow its original schedule, not only can a company have their carbon taxes paid back, but also receive full payment for forgone future carbon tax expenses.
The provision can be used by any company without a PPCD contract, and is triggered automatically upon any changes to federal carbon price. It also applies to carbon credit markets, where the
Government of Canada is set to guarantee a specific price for carbon credits for specific projects or a market as whole, providing direct finical compensation when the actual price falls short of an expected benchmark.
Simultaneously, Ottawa is set to enter into
Carbon Credit Forward Purchase Agreements for duration of 5 years or longer with individual emitters and industry associations. This would allow for the Government of Canada to guaranteed carbon and other pollution pricing for specific projects, directly compensating lower than expected pricing for designated projects.
The Government of Canada has concluded a set of
Federal-Provincial Pollution Pricing Agreements, where Ottawa is set to be opearte as a last-resort buyer of carbon credits for local or sectoral marlets, using the federal carvon price as a benchmark. However, under the FPPPAs the federal government has also onbidgted to disapply the
federal carbon backstop and fully absorb the cost of pushasing exessive credits. Notably, Ottawa has also committed to maintaining a more harmonious price on carbon across the country, through allowing local authorities to increase the supply of credits to align it with other provinces, so long it doesn't fall bellow the federal benchmark.
Most importantly, however, FPPPAs also oblige provinces to introduce contracts for difference when it comes to energy markets - traditionally a provincial jurisdiction.
Traditionally, energy markets operate through energy generating companies singing purchase contracts with energy distributors to deliver it to final customers. The cost of buying the energy and delivering is effectively passed onto consumers buy distributors with a higher mark up for to maintain to profitability. However, in markets where energy has been generated largely through fossil fuel extraction, the final price of electricity is eagerly determined by prices of fossil fuels.
To ensure the markets operate smoothy,
Energy Contracts for Difference are used, to narrow the gap between wholesale price on electricity and the strike price - the point at which energy generation remains economically viable - desired by generators. The strike price is determined through an open auction of multiple generators, on an open auction, until with strike price suggestions being accepted until the budget or the capacity of the grid have been exhausted. The sealed bid for the last project accepted sets a multi-year strike price that all successful bidders receive, that is further indexed for inflation, for annual adjustments.
Thus, whenever the average wholesale price for electricity runs bellow the strike price, the government is set to cover the difference for renewable energy generating companies, to keep their business afloat. However, whenever the reference price - the average wholesale market price - exceeds the strike price, the companies should return excessive profits to the government.
Under respite FPPPAs, the monitoring those markets as well as operating the payments is set to be done by an independent provincial agency, funded through levies on non-renewable energy generation, generally following the
approach of the United Kingdom.
The price guarantee however also applied to generation for nuclear energy, clean hydrogen, and - in provinces dependent on fossil fuels - temporary natural gas.
Since, energy prices remain flat across the market, they become effective regressive when it comes to income distribution. Households have to pay based on their individual consumption, being identical and per household consumption being largely balanced, causes lower income households to spend more on energy since per unit price of electricity remains the same regardless of household income. Additionally, some provinces have energy generation that is largely dependent on fossil fuel generation, causing future ECfDs to increase prices of electricity substantially. Thus, the Government of Canada is set to absorb the cost of energy rebates to households to offset those increased costs, with the specifics determined by the provinces through the
Canadian Green Energy Rebate Program (CGERP).
A similar approach is used for critical minerals, where the Government of Canada opens auctions to determine strike prices for natural resource exploration and processing projects, and the guaranteeing that specific price for projects associated with a given auction. If the market price falls from bellow the strike price, the Government of Canada shall compensate the difference, while extra profits from elevated prices shall be compensate to pay-back to Ottawa.
For
critical minerals specifically, CfDs are signed over 25-year period, with the strike price being reference against a comprehensive benchmark against fossil fuel. The contracts guarantee critical minerals shall remain more attractive in terms of return guarantees as opposed to fossil fuels.
Finally, the Government is also expanding carbon contracts for difference to all Investment & Innovation Canada institutions, rather than just the
Canada Growth Fund, instead incorporating emissions reduction as a supplementary mandate for all bodies of the IIC. Instead, the CGF sees their mandate expanded to support commercialisation of market-ready technologies not just for the green transition, but when it comes to
energy production, construction, aerospace, life sciences, communications, and inflation technologies. While managing the issue of PPCDs and other contracts for difference backed by Ottawa - including kickstarting auctions - falls under the jurisdiction of the newly created
Office of Contract Guarantees The Government is also launching a new
Equity & Asset Finance Program that aims to provide confessional funding to smaller investors, especially those in equity markets, when it comes to purchasing equity in IIC-backed projects. The Program allows IIC institutions to partner other finical players, and through income-contingent grants, matching programmes, and all other available instruments lend to smaller investors, including individual ones, to cover the purchase of corporate equity for companies that have been listed on a Canadian stock exhale for 5 years or less, or operate in the renewable energy, battery production, clean energy and industrial equipment, IT, pharmaceuticals and life sciences.
Additionally, the Government strengthens the accountability for IIC institutions, through the creation of the
Innovation & Business Assistance Council of Canada, including provincial jurisdictions. IBACC provides through supervision and independent assessment the combined and overall perforce of IIC institutions, including their finical health and long-term profitability. It also uses overseeing councils of Regional Development Agencies to monitor the success of individual RDAs, calculating their finical soundness and long-term market impact. The Council is also tasked with screening individual applicants and projects together with relevant institutions within the IIC, using the data collected as proxy for an overall assessment of a programme, or an institution.
The key performance indicators that the Council uses to assess the perforce of specific programmes, as well as IIC insertions include:
- Crowd-in Effect - how much private investment has been committed, as opposed to direct subsidies.
- Degree of Maturity - IBACC assesses whenever a project is immature enough to actually require public business assistance or whenever the funding may not be necessary at all, with further interference crowding out rather than facilitating private investment.
Those two impact assessment remain mandatory for all projects, together comprising the assessment for long-term ability of a project to remain financially viable without governmental support.
- Impact on Competition - jointly with the compensation authorities, the Council assesses whether the project is conducive to greater competition among domestic companies, rather than simply favouring incumbent companies. This also includes the impact of competition in capital markets. This criterion is also considered superior to the productivity and clause, since higher competition is assumed to increase productivity on its own.
- Productivity and Resource Utilisation - to what extent a given project, programme, or institution results in productivity increases, as opposed to simply greater use of existing resources. Notable exception is granted whenever greater recourse use involves higher labour participation.
- Environmental Impact - to what extent the project is conducive to lowering emissions as well as broadener human footprint in the environment. This assessment is only mandatory for companies and projects seeking support for "green" investment, and may override the productivity consideration.
Political Implications
From a policy standpoint, the current policy mix unveiled during the
Fall Economic Update 2024 effectively provides comprehensive insurance for the Liberals' climate policy in case they loose the upcoming election - something that seems to become increasingly likely.
However, when it comes to pure politics, both Trudeau and the federal Conservatives find themselves in a tight spot.
For Team Red the problem lies in a trade off they made, opting for enshrining their climate policy through Carbon Contracts for Defence (PPCDs) where even minor changes to price on pollution will result in massive fiscal punishments for the Government of Canada. Additionally, the Federal-Provincial Agreements effectively commit both the provinces and Ottawa to maintaining some form of carbon pricing, with the Feds still maintaining the role of a backstop party. However, Trudeau had to effectively pull the breaks on two of his major policies: the
Clean Energy Regulations - with similar objectives being achieved through FPPPAs - and the
federal emissions cap, as a concession made as part of an apparent close-door negotiants with western provinces to sign the agreements. Which will be quite difficult to sell to a more progressive side of the Liberal electorate.
Team Blue on the other hand is seemly trying to dial down on their promises to repeal federal price on carbon, instead aiming for the
Environmental Impact Assessment, emphasising how the Act may likely slow down exploration and development of critical minerals. The Tories are also doubling down on
housing affordability, as slowing inflation shifts Canadians' perception Liberals'
economic competence. Nevertheless, Conservatives still resonate with people, on another key issue: national unity. Although Liberals seem to have successfully avoided direct head-to-head collision with the Conservative-run Alberta, lack of
Western support for Trudeau climate policies may provide a hook for the Tories to hang on to. Especially as neither party seem to be able to secure a clear majority in Quebec, to un-seat the nationalist Bloc Québécois.

2023.06.03 03:25 GreenGamma047 Is my current plan feasible or is it unrealistic? What else should I be doing/not be doing?
Hello everyone,
Ideally, I want to apply next cycle so I can matriculate right after finishing my SMP, however I feel like that might be a pipedream. Let me explain my current situation.
I recently graduated last fall taking one extra semester to graduate with a double major. My CGPA wasn't atrocious at 3.4, but my SGPA is quite low at only 3.1-3.2. While I do have a strong upward trend and some valid reasons for having such a low gpa (dealt with some serious mental health issues and a close family member became seriously ill) they are well below the median of any of the schools I'd love to get into (aiming for top 50 and ideally my state school which is top 30). Because of this, I decided to do some post-bacc work. After applying to a few different programs and (thankfully) getting accepted to almost all of them, I ended up deciding on an SMP program which I will be starting this august. It has a direct linkage to one of my dream schools and guarantees an interview provided you meet certain undergrad and grad gpa criteria + attain an MCAT score above a 515.
Great-However, this is where the problems start. Currently, I have taken the MCAT only once and scored a 502 (124/129/125/124). I know I can do much better- I studied a fraction of the time I should have. The number of hours I actually studied is embarrassingly low- like only in the tens of hours (its quite hard to study when you're working full time at a very labor-intensive job) and the studying I did do involved very little practice problems and was mostly just content review.
Why even take it you might ask? Well, I was stupidly overconfident as I've always been a very great test taker. Even in the midst of my mental health struggles in undergrad where I rarely if ever went to class and the only studying I could bring myself to do without breaking down was cramming the night before, the worst grades I got were C+'s in physics 1 and 2 as well as OCHEM 1, where the only graded work was exams. ( I did get lots of Bs though, hence my GPA). Nevertheless, I now understand how much work this exam actually requires, and plan to spend far, far more time studying in depth for it.
Ideally, my plan is to take the MCAT next may so I can use it on my applications and to start studying around January or February. Unfortunately, this means I would have to study while in the midst of a rigorous SMP program. Is studying for the MCAT while in the midst of an SMP an absurd thought? Anyone else have any experience trying this?
That isn't my only problem though. I'm short when it comes to ECs. Unfortunately, when covid hit, I was forced to live with my parents who are in the middle of nowhere with near-zero opportunities for three semesters of remote learning. While I have ~50 hours shadowing various specialties, outside of one club and working during the summers (not science related- not sure how this looks on apps? anyone know?) the only other EC I have is some clinical volunteering I started last semester. Now the good news is that this is a really astounding clinical volunteering experience- I've been told it was looked at very, very highly by interviewers by some fellow volunteers who were accepted into MD programs. I worry though that by only having this one experience I will be locked out of any schools I'd like to go to and if not them then just most MD programs in general. By the time I start my SMP, I will have somewhere around 150 hours of volunteering in- I of course plan to continue volunteering while in my program to boost this of course (ideally, I'd up this to 8 or so hours a week to hit 300-400 by the time I apply, and also have plenty of projected hours of course)
So with this in mind, In order to boost my application further I was hoping to get involved in research this upcoming semester, and if I don't have any luck with that, then the SMP does have an extracurricular course where you can perform clinical research, so I am at the least guaranteed something. I'm also considering entering some weightlifting competitions as I have been an avid weightlifter for years and have some mildly impressive numbers ( 345 bench, 425 squat, and 495 deadlift)- at least this way I can upgrade my hobby to an EC and maybe score some brownie points if I end up doing well :)
However, assuming all of this goes to plan, I worry it's still far too little EC hours for medical school. on top of that, is it even humanly possible to plan on taking the MCAT in May and have enough time to study where I can score 515+?
Obviously the simple and easy answer is to just apply in two cycles instead of next cycle, but I'm not anxious to go to medical school at 26 years old, especially when I have friends who will be in their third and fourth years by the time I'm just starting. On top of that I worry medical schools will look down on me if I wait to apply until then.
Overall, I'm just feeling overwhelmed and a bit defeated- I could really use some advice :/

2023.06.03 03:07 syd_er Yelling into the void
Hi people!
I'm Quinn, 24 years old.
This post might be of the lengthy kind, I don't know yet. I'm just sharing my thoughts, yelling into the void, so feel free to read along, it might be worth your while. :)
Funny how I am now posting on this subreddit, after spending thousands of bucks on technical equipment and several thousands if not tens of thousands of hours sunken into PC/console gaming ever since I was 11 years old.
Gaming always has been a very major part of my life. And just recently I started questioning that "hobby" of mine. Just for metrics sake: I have been at my PC daily, if my schedule allows it (which it does, 90% of the time). Anything from 2 to 10 hours, some days even more. Rarely a day passes when I am not playing videogames. It's been such a massive part of my life that it influenced my line of work too, as I have been working as a technical IT specialist for years.
Now that you've got the prologue.. Recently, about two or three weeks ago, I reinstalled League of Legends, after staying away from it for a year or so (3rd or 4th time I had "quit" it). And since many of you know, League is a horrible place. Everything about that game is toxic and crippling to the highest degree. Both socially and mentally.
After I wrestled my rage down after a particularly bad game, resisting the urge to literally smash something to pieces, either my own body or some object that was unfortunate enough to be close to me, I laid down in bed.
Checked the time, 3am. Looking back at my day, I accomplished nothing. Learned nothing. Just videogames. Honed no relevant, physically applicable skill. Essentially just killing time.
Only sat at my desk, getting really, really toxic and angry at random digital bullcrap and not moving an inch, neglecting my health.
I recently passed a really crucial, final exam. I should be in my best mood. But j felt unbalanced, burned out. The negative feelings and passive guilt from having done nothing all day suppressed that joy I should be feeling.
After googling a bit, trying to find people having similar experiences as me, I found this community. And then it kind of struck me. The time and money I sunk into videogames. The hours wasted. The meals skipped, the other hobbies that were consumed by it, the friends and events I called off in favor of playing videogames.
I could have learned countless instruments. Read countless books. Developed so much. I realized how many hobbies I had as a kid that were mutilated by a gaming addiction.
I don't think I need to say any more, this was the last straw. This piece of shit computer, these piece of shit games. Me neglecting my life, my self and others, in favor of doing something that gets me absolutely nowhere. I realized how absolutely deranged and emotionally unstable I have become.
I am ready to quit. I want to keep World of Warcraft around, I really only play it alone and mostly just for Lore. I enjoy that so much, that I feel like it's worth keeping around.
But from 4 hours average a day, down to a maximum of 4 hours a week.
I'll be resetting my computer tomorrow..and leaving only WoW on it. It's time to get my damn life under control.
If you made it this far, thank you for participating my monologue. If you have/had similar experiences I'd love to hear about them in the comments. :)

2023.06.03 01:56 Dismal-Jellyfish ‘Shadow Banks’ Account for Half of the World’s Assets—and Pose Growing Risks: 'no one seems to have a firm handle on the risks that nonbank financial entities could pose if numerous trades and investments sour.'
| Source: https://www.marketwatch.com/articles/shadow-banks-account-for-half-of-the-worlds-assetsand-pose-growing-risks-8f4b5961 The sudden failure this year of three sizable American banks demonstrated one way in which the financial system can “break” as the Federal Reserve and other central banks press a campaign to normalize interest rates. There could be others. Risk-minded regulators, policy makers, and investors are eyeing the huge but nebulous world of largely unregulated nonbank financial intermediaries, known colloquially as shadow banks, as a potential locus of future problems. It includes sovereign-wealth funds, insurers, pension funds, hedge funds, financial-technology firms, financial clearing houses, mutual funds, and fast-growing entities such as money-market funds and private credit funds. https://preview.redd.it/cgymd43tvo3b1.png?width=1050&format=png&auto=webp&s=bcacf11db745f213831425f72b9c0030210d287f The nonbank financial system now controls $239 trillion, or almost half of the world’s financial assets, according to the Financial Stability Board. That’s up from 42% in 2008, and has doubled since the 2008-09 financial crisis. Postcrisis regulations helped shore up the nation’s biggest banks, but the restrictions that were imposed, coupled with years of ultralow interest rates, fueled the explosive growth of nonbank finance. https://preview.redd.it/47cnlnpewo3b1.png?width=1030&format=png&auto=webp&s=8fc71b7cf09f7ba1523db038e13efd6354640deb To be sure, these financial intermediaries play an important role in the economy, lending to many businesses too small or indebted to tap institutional markets. Moreover, while talk is rife on Wall Street about problems brewing in shadow banking, few have surfaced since the Fed began tightening monetary policy in the first quarter of 2022. To the contrary, disruptions caused by rising interest rates have been most evident so far in the regulated banking sector. And any turmoil in the nonbank arena could prove relatively benign, especially if the economy avoids a severe recession. Yet, no one seems to have a firm handle on the risks that nonbank financial entities could pose if numerous trades and investments sour. Nor is there a detailed understanding of the connections among nonbank entities, or their links to the regulated banking system. To date, this system hasn’t been tested, at this scale, for a wave of credit losses and defaults that could stem from higher rates and a weakening economy. History suggests caution: Shadow banking was at the epicenter of the financial crisis, as nontraditional financial institutions turned subprime mortgages into complex securities sold to banks and investors, often using high levels of leverage. As homeowners defaulted, these products lost value, and the damage cascaded through the financial system. While nonbank finance looks a lot different today, as do the potential risks, it remains a source of concern. Some policy makers and bankers use the shadow-bank moniker to refer to that segment of the nonbank universe considered most likely to trigger the sorts of liquidity-draining events that sparked prior financial contagion. The Institute of International Finance ballparks such exposure at about 14% of nonbank financial assets. But the links remain cloudy between the riskier elements of shadow banking, a term that rankles many nonbank entities, and the more resilient world of market-based finance. “The enormous size and high leverage levels of the nonbank financial-institutions sector, along with the more lax reporting and regulatory standards applied to this sector relative to banks make it a potential tinderbox,” says Eswar Prasad, an economics professor at Cornell University and a senior fellow at Brookings Institution, who formerly worked at the International Monetary Fund. Worried economists and financial analysts have been urging regulators to gain a better understanding of nonbank financial intermediaries because they see telltale signs of potential trouble, including illiquid assets, increasing leverage, lack of transparency, and rapid growth. The nonbank universe is “everyone’s obvious candidate” for more breaks, says Simon Johnson, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a former director of research at the IMF, who has spent much of his career working to prevent economic crises. There are no direct parallels to the asset mismatches and bank runs that took down Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic Bank earlier this year. In part, that’s because the pension funds, insurers, and endowments of the nonbank world tend to hold assets for decades through funds that lock up their money for five to seven years. Also, big players such as private credit funds tend to use far less leverage than banks. Still, there are indications that inflation and the sharp rise in rates may be causing strains in some parts of the nonbank system. High interest rates have sapped demand for new mortgages, for instance, hurting nonbank lenders. Liquidity in parts of the bond market, such as emerging market debt and high-yield, is at the lowest levels since the Covid pandemic. And cash flow at some companies financed by private credit is shrinking due to inflation, a slowing economy, and higher debt payments. One thing is clear: What happens in one corner of this sprawling world doesn’t stay there. Consider the collapse of the hedge fund Archegos Capital Management in 2021. Its losses on concentrated bets on blue-chip stocks triggered a margin call that led to the sale of about $20 billion of assets. That left big banks exposed to the fund, including Nomura and UBS, with billions of dollars in losses. “Risks came back to banks’ balance sheets from the back door,” says Fabio Massimo Natalucci, deputy director of monetary and capital markets development at the International Monetary Fund and co-author of its global financial-stability report. Federal Reserve governor Michelle Bowman said in a speech this spring that losses related to riskier activities pushed out of the banking system could come back to haunt banks through activities such as the banks’ extension of credit to nonbank lenders. According to the Fed, bank lending to nonbank financial intermediaries totaled $2 trillion in commitments at the end of 2022, a level the Fed described as high. https://preview.redd.it/vxfirsbuwo3b1.png?width=1042&format=png&auto=webp&s=d7e6505de660463394cd513dd7dce78326151fdb While many nonbank entities are regulated in some way, no regulator has attempted to assess the overall financial stability of the nonbank world. The Financial Stability Oversight Council, or FSOC, is now seeking comments on designating some nonbank institutions as systemic and subjecting some to Federal Reserve supervision. That would reverse some of the changes made during the last administration. A look at three types of nonbank financial intermediaries—private-credit providers, open-end bond funds, and nonbank mortgage lenders—offers a window into the prevailing concerns about shadow banking, and suggests how conditions could unravel in this sector in ways that roil the economy and the markets. Private Credit Rapid growth in the world of finance tends to draw attention, and few business segments have grown since the financial crisis as much as private credit. Private-credit providers typically lend directly to midsize, privately owned businesses that generate from $10 million to $1 billion of revenue and can’t get funding in the institutional market. https://preview.redd.it/ywxrglx0xo3b1.png?width=1031&format=png&auto=webp&s=2f37c7b40949d458cabeb5beab46227134bea781 As banks retreated after the crisis and each minicrisis that followed, these financial intermediaries stepped in. Private-credit assets have mushroomed to nearly $1.5 trillion from $230 billion in 2008**,** putting the private-credit market in the league of the leveraged-loan and high-yield markets. Drawn by high yields, attractive returns, and diversification opportunities, investors have poured money into private-credit funds. Insurers have doubled their allocation to these pools of largely illiquid assets over the past decade, while pension funds have more than doubled their allocation to alternative investments, including private credit, since 2006. The Fed said in its financial stability report, published in May, that the risk to financial stability from private-credit funds appears limited. It noted that the funds don’t use much leverage, are held by institutional investors, and have long lockup periods, limiting the risk of runs. But the Fed also acknowledged that it had little visibility into loan portfolios, including the traits of borrowers, the nature of deal terms, and default risks. Some observers are concerned about the connections between private lending and other nonbank activities, as well as lenders’ links to the banking sector. “Wall Street says they aren’t going to lend to subprime borrowers, but they lend to funds that lend to them,” says Ana Arsov, who oversees private-credit research at Moody’s. There is no public view of banks’ total exposure to private credit, Arsov says. Given the scale of the business and limited visibility into the risks, analysts worry that any widespread deterioration of asset quality could ripple through other parts of the financial world before regulators could act. Business development companies, some of which are publicly traded, offer some insight through disclosure documents into this $250 billion market. “Most managers that have both BDCs and institutional structures share deals across their platform, providing insight into the types of credits in their portfolios,” says Dwight Scott, global head of Blackstone Credit. Moody’s sees increasing challenges for some BDCs over the next 12 to 18 months as the economy slows and companies grapple with higher borrowing costs, inflation, and market volatility. Although liquidity looks adequate for the next 12 months, loan maturities for portfolio companies will accelerate after that. If rates are still high and the economy is slumping, that could hamper the prospects for further borrowing. Similarly, lenders could become more conservative. Blackstone Private Credit fund, or BCRED, the biggest private-credit fund, said late last year that it had hit its 5% quarterly investor-redemption limit. While Blackstone had no trouble meeting redemptions, and has reported that redemption requests fell in this year’s first quarter, Arsov worries about how smaller players would handle a similar situation. The industry’s efforts to court retail investors, she says, could increase the possibility that risks in private credit seep into broader financial markets, potentially by creating confidence issues. What could trigger problems in the broader private-credit universe? One concern is a potential wave of struggling borrowers larger than the anticipated 5% to 6%. Arsov says expectations may be too rosy, based on the low default rate during the pandemic, when the Fed stepped in with trillions of dollars in stimulus. With the Fed now raising rates to curb inflation and trimming its balance sheet, such assistance is unlikely to be repeated. Leverage metrics also have deteriorated, and covenant protections have weakened as the growth in private credit has increased competition for deals. Many have been concentrated in software, business services, and healthcare, in companies backed by private-equity funds. Given the benign interest-rate and economic backdrop of recent years, many private-equity investors were willing to pay higher multiples of enterprise value for companies with sustainable revenue, which allowed them to take on more leverage, says Richard Miller, head of private credit at TCW. “Our markets stopped focusing on debt to Ebitda [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization], the longstanding gauge of risk, and looked at loan to value,” Miller says. “That was fine as long as enterprise values didn’t contract and the [interest] rate on that elevated debt didn’t go up. We have had a change in both.” Now, some of these companies are generating less cash flow, which affects their ability to cover interest payments. While leverage isn’t as high as during the financial crisis, limiting potential systemic risk, Miller sees the risks today transferred to the individual borrower, and worries about the prospect of some borrowers running out of money. A shift in the market might weed out weaker private-credit upstarts. But a potential combination of rising defaults, elevated interest rates, and flagging investor appetite for private credit could exacerbate a downturn, albeit in slow motion, given the nature of borrowing. Not surprisingly, industry leaders are more upbeat. “People conflate default with losses,” says Blackstone’s Scott. But much of direct lending involves senior secured debt, he notes, which should minimize actual losses and enable lenders to help businesses through the challenges. “Rather than increasing risk to the markets, private-credit asset managers are typically a stabilizing force, given the ability to invest patiently and opportunistically, and with little to no use of leverage, when banks and other traditional market participants either can’t or won’t,” says Michael Arougheti, chief executive of Ares Management, one of the largest alternative-asset managers. https://preview.redd.it/8kxrl8eexo3b1.png?width=396&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0fc605506d01955897874827fecff078f2e73ba Bond Funds Unlike private-credit funds, which lock up investors’ money for a set period, most mutual funds allow investors to buy and sell whenever they want, offering daily liquidity. But that could turn problematic for bond funds under certain conditions, as some corporate bonds change hands only once a month—and less frequently in times of stress. If credit losses pile up or markets become stressed, some policy makers fear that bond funds could face demands to liquidate holdings at fire-sale prices, as investors scramble to sell funds with assets that have become illiquid. Liquidity in bond markets dried up in the early days of the pandemic as investors scrambled for cash and some bond funds sold assets to meet redemptions. That set off a further frenzy as investors tried to unload assets before they became more illiquid. The selling pressure eventually forced the Fed to intervene and offer to buy corporate bonds for the first time ever to keep credit flowing. Hoping to minimize the damage from another fire sale, policy makers are looking to develop new rules, including on fund pricing. The Investment Company Institute, which represents the mutual fund industry, has pushed back against this effort, arguing it is based on an incorrect view of the role that bond funds played in 2020. Citing its own research, the ICI says bond sales didn’t spark the Treasury market dysfunction that disrupted the flow of credit, but started only after markets began seizing up and, at that, represented a fraction of the selling. The ICI notes that concerns about fire sales during periods of market stress aren’t unique to the mutual fund structure. Bond funds have seen net inflows of $1.74 trillion since 2013. Global fixed-income funds, a subset of the sector, have crowded into some of the same corners of the market in the past two years. The IMF has raised alarms about that, citing fears of a stampede out of certain assets if a single fund runs into trouble. https://preview.redd.it/4dj15yznxo3b1.png?width=1017&format=png&auto=webp&s=14d2e757c94a8a0d3a63cc276dff2b214821e715 Bid/ask spreads, a common gauge of a market’s liquidity, have widened in areas such as high-yield and emerging market debt to levels last seen in the spring of 2020, according to the IMF. Mara Dobrescu, director of fixed-income strategies for Morningstar’s manager-research group, also sees increasing vulnerabilities, but notes that most funds are equipped to handle stresses and that not many bond funds have had to institute limits on redemptions. The business of originating and servicing loans has migrated steadily away from banks, with nonbank lenders accounting for more than two-thirds of all originations. Rocket Cos. ’ [ticker: RKT] Rocket Mortgage unit and UWM Holdings ’ [UWMC] United Wholesale Mortgage top the list of the biggest lenders. Neither company responded to Barron’s requests for comment. Housing finance is raising flags again, not so much for risky lending practices as in 2008, but because of the business models of these nonbank lenders, which don’t have to hold as much capital as banks. With people buying fewer houses, mortgage originations are down 60% in the past two years, raising concerns that potential losses will eat into these businesses’ slim capital cushion and raise leverage levels. https://preview.redd.it/5p3dewayxo3b1.png?width=1051&format=png&auto=webp&s=b398b224d9378bc4159a61405d55fd616238b93d Nancy Wallace, a finance and real estate professor at the University of California, Berkeley Haas School of Business, has been warning for years about these nonbank lenders’ business model. She fears that a rise in defaults could lead to disruptions in the mortgage and housing markets. One concern is the companies’ reliance on short-term funding through warehouse lines of credit from banks. Those presumably could be pulled during periods of market stress, or if the borrowers’ financial health were to deteriorate. In this year’s first quarter, delinquency rates were only 3.6%, the lowest level for any first quarter since the Mortgage Bankers Association started tracking them in 1979. A sharp rise in delinquencies, however, could bring added pain, as the companies’ servicing businesses, which collect monthly payments from borrowers and funnel them to investors including banks, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac, would need to advance the money. On its own, analysts don’t see the nonbank mortgage-lending industry triggering a financial crisis, although distress throughout the industry could diminish confidence in other nonbank lenders. In a worst-case scenario, credit could dry up for riskier borrowers, hitting home prices and sapping mortgage demand. Peter Mills, senior vice president of residential policy for the Mortgage Bankers Association, has pushed back on recent regulatory efforts aimed at designating nonbank lenders as systemic, noting that the framework under consideration doesn’t include a cost/benefit analysis or an assessment of the probability that an entity could default. Plus, he doesn’t see a financial-transmission risk from the industry, which is working on tools to mitigate strains in the event of delinquencies. “It’s less a financial earthquake and more of an operational challenge,” he says. That may prove to be the case throughout the nonbank financial sector as interest rates normalize and the era of free money ends. Plenty of things might bend without breaking in this vast and opaque world. Just the same, it pays to be vigilant. TLDRS: Shorter Version: - The nonbank financial intermediaries, or "shadow banks," controlling almost half of the world’s financial assets, are being watched closely as central banks work towards normalizing interest rates.
- Though few problems have been noted since the Fed's monetary policy tightening in 2022, there are concerns about the risk these nonbank entities could pose if numerous investments fail, especially given the lack of understanding about their interconnections.
- Rising interest rates and inflation may be causing strain in the nonbank system, with decreased demand for new mortgages and reduced liquidity in some bond markets.
- The collapse of Archegos Capital Management in 2021 highlighted the risk of problems in one area of the nonbank system impacting others, prompting calls for regulators to improve understanding of nonbank financial intermediaries.
- Despite private credit growth, concerns persist due to limited visibility into these funds' loan portfolios and connections between private lending and other nonbank activities, as well as links to the banking sector.
- Bond funds, with their daily liquidity, could face challenges in times of stress when certain corporate bonds are infrequently traded, potentially leading to liquidation at reduced prices.
- The shift from banks to nonbank lenders in the mortgage market, combined with the latter's reliance on short-term funding from banks, has raised concerns, especially in the event of a sharp rise in delinquencies.
Longer Version: - As the Federal Reserve and other central banks work towards normalizing interest rates, the largely unregulated nonbank financial intermediaries, also known as shadow banks, are being closely watched due to their potential to cause future financial issues.
- These entities, which include everything from sovereign-wealth funds to financial-technology firms, currently control $239 trillion, almost half of the world’s financial assets, an increase from 42% in 2008.
- These intermediaries serve a crucial role in the economy, lending to businesses that are too small or too indebted to tap into institutional markets.
- Despite concerns, few issues have emerged in the shadow banking sector since the Fed began tightening monetary policy in 2022.
- However, it's unclear what risks these nonbank entities could pose if numerous investments go sour, especially considering the lack of detailed understanding about their connections among themselves and to the regulated banking system.
- The shadow banking system hasn't been tested on this scale against a potential wave of credit losses and defaults that could result from higher rates and a weakening economy.
- The sector, with its size, high leverage levels, and lax reporting and regulatory standards, could potentially become a "tinderbox" according to some economists.
- There are indications that rising interest rates and inflation may be causing some strain in the nonbank system.
- High rates have reduced demand for new mortgages, affecting nonbank lenders. Also, liquidity in some bond markets is at the lowest levels since the COVID pandemic.
- Still, there have been instances where problems in one part of the nonbank system have impacted others. The collapse of the hedge fund Archegos Capital Management in 2021, for example, resulted in significant losses for big banks exposed to the fund (and those continue as that bag is passed around...).
- Given these risks, regulators are being urged to gain a better understanding of nonbank financial intermediaries.
- Private credit has grown exponentially since the 2008 financial crisis, ballooning from $230 billion to almost $1.5 trillion.
- This sector lends directly to midsize businesses that can't obtain funding in the institutional market.
- Investors are attracted to private credit due to high yields, returns, and diversification opportunities.
- The Federal Reserve stated in a recent report that risks to financial stability from private-credit funds seem limited because these funds don't use much leverage, have long lockup periods, and are held by institutional investors.
- However, there's limited visibility into these funds' loan portfolios, including borrower characteristics, deal terms, and default risks.
- Concerns arise from connections between private lending and other nonbank activities, as well as links to the banking sector.
- The lack of public view into banks' total exposure to private credit is a cause for concern for some analysts who worry that asset quality deterioration could impact other parts of the financial world before regulators can intervene.
- A potential wave of struggling borrowers larger than the anticipated 5-6% could trigger problems in the broader private credit universe.
- Leverage metrics have also worsened, and covenant protections have weakened as competition for deals has grown.
- The market's focus has shifted from debt to EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) to loan to value, which could lead to some borrowers running out of money.
- There is concern that a potential combination of rising defaults, high interest rates, and waning investor appetite for private credit could exacerbate a downturn.
- Most mutual funds offer daily liquidity, allowing investors to buy and sell whenever they wish.
- However, this could be an issue for bond funds in certain conditions, as some corporate bonds are traded only once a month and even less often during stressful times.
- If credit losses accumulate or markets become stressed, bond funds could face pressure to liquidate holdings at reduced prices as investors rush to sell funds with illiquid assets.
- Bond funds have experienced net inflows of $1.74 trillion since 2013, with global fixed-income funds investing heavily in certain market areas in the last two years.
- The IMF has expressed concerns about this, noting that if a single fund encounters issues, it could lead to a rush out of certain assets.
- Liquidity risks in high-yield bond funds have increased in 2022, with bid-ask spreads, a measure of a market’s liquidity, widening.
- Since the global financial crisis, the mortgage market has undergone significant changes, with nonbank lenders now accounting for over two-thirds of all originations.
- While the shift away from banks isn't due to risky lending as in 2008, concerns have been raised about the business models of nonbank lenders.
- These lenders don't need to hold as much capital as banks, and with a 60% decline in mortgage originations in the past two years due to decreased house purchases, potential losses could deplete their modest capital buffer and increase leverage levels.
- One concern is the nonbank lenders' reliance on short-term funding via warehouse lines of credit from banks, which could be withdrawn during market stress or if the borrowers' financial condition worsens.
- Although delinquency rates were just 3.6% in Q1 of this year, a sharp increase could cause issues, as these companies' servicing businesses would have to advance the money.

2023.06.03 01:50 kpow69 Opinion Class 1-A Support Items
I’ll be judging each student’s gear based on practicality, how they’re utilized (canonically) in the story, and maybe suggestions for upgrades to their items or different items they could have.
Aoyama: Since he literally can’t control his quirk without his belt, it’s very practical and constantly being utilized. Plus the option to channel it to other parts of his suit is pretty neat.
Mina: Her suit is acid proof. That’s about it.
Tsuyu: camo suit and a neck ring to regulate her temperature. Pretty good since intense cold is her only serious weakness.
Iida: His entire costume is basically a support item. It helps keep his engines cool and is aerodynamic for wind resistance. I think it would be cool if in the future he went full Iron Man and added an interface into his helmet.
Uraraka: The wire she added to her wrists and the propulsion system in her boots are great for midair mobility. She uses them pretty frequently after having them installed. Although I will say, I preferred her first helmet with the face shield. Not just aesthetically, but because it protected… you know, her face.
Ojiro: None. I think it would be cool if he had a collapsible staff for combat. Mostly to add to the Son Wukong aesthetic. If not that, maybe just some sturdy, flexible material for his tail to keep it from getting injured without sacrificing mobility.
Kaminari: I’ve got some bones to pick with his stuff. Mostly from a utilization standpoint. Remember his communicator earpiece? That would’ve been quite useful for communicating with his teammates or calling for backup in an emergency. Too bad it’s not even mentioned after USJ. Then he gets the sharpshooter gear, which I thought was great for him. It gave accuracy to his indiscriminate attacks. Until I realized that the only time he has successfully used it was during the provisional license exam, against meatball man. Well, at least his visor acts as a tracking device when coupled with the pointers. Though the practicality is a bit questionable when the tracker is a bright orange frisbee. Oh wait, that feature was introduced during joint training and was never used again… sigh. In short, awesome, useful gear that is horribly underused.
Kirishima: None
Koda: he doesn’t really need his mask to amplify his voice anymore, since he can now communicate with animals via telepathy. My only suggestion would be maybe some animal treats.(Just to be nice)
Sato: Dude literally pulls sugar and snacks out of his ass mid fight, like he’s playing Skyrim. I’d just give him some glucose tablets and call it a day.
Shoji: None
Jiro: Her stereo boots were kinda cool if not a bit impractical. Her amplifiers are much better, allowing her to attach them to her jacks and aim them wherever she wants.
Sero: None
Tokoyami: His cloak allows him to block out the light and recharge dark shadows power. When Momo made him night vision goggles during joint training, I remember thinking “why doesn’t he always have those“. If his specialty is going to be “revelry in the dark”, it would probably be helpful for him to see in the dark as well.
Todoroki: Shoto’s gear is explained in chapter extras, but the only ones we see in action in the seriesare his gauntlets. Which help compress and concentrate his quirk in the same way that Endeavor’s do. Then there’s his first aid kits, which I still don’t understand to this day. It’s incredibly smart to always have first aid on your person and more heroes should do it. But we’re never shown how he uses them. During the war arc, it is said that he administered first aid to Gran Torino and Ryukyu… HOW!? What could possibly be in those tiny canisters that could save someone on the verge of death? Unless they’re full of Recovery Girl’s spit or Senzu beans, I’m not buying it. That being said, I’d never tell him to get rid of them.(long live Five Weenies.)
Hagakure: None. Was it really too much to ask to give her a suit that can turn invisible? Was it really worth the multiple jokes that end in the same punchline of “ Get it? She’s naked.”?
Bakugo: the gauntlets were a good idea. They store up sweat for extra powerful explosions and have shock absorbers to reduce the burden of those explosions. I also like that he has small grenades that he usually gives to his teammates. His most recent item isfreaking turrets mounted on his freaking back. Allowing him to fire explosive projectiles in multiple directions. Say what you want about Bakugo, but he knows how to lean into his strengths. BLOWING SHIT UP!
Midoriya. Most of his support items serve the same purpose. To prevent him from over exerting himself by overusing his power, aside from his Air Force gloves and maybe his iron soles. The gloves were designed to focus and concentrate his air pressure attacks. The iron soles were made to power up his kicks. He doesn’t really use air force for projectiles anymore. He mostly uses it to propel himself through the air while using float, but nonetheless, he still utilizes them. He’s still rocking the iron soles, but I’m not sure if they still work the same way they did during the licensing exam. Since the series hasn’t gone out of its way to show it since then.
Mineta: Who needs support items when you got sticky balls? But in all seriousness, the extra chapters describe the items that make up his costume. Only two of them serve an actual purpose. His pants and his gloves. The purple dots on the pants can actually have items stuck to them, but he never uses this. Most likely because it would look stupid. His gloves allow him to touch his balls without getting stuck to them… Yeah, I just said that.
Yaoyorozu: she’s basically got an encyclopedia of materials and items for her to make. Not sure if it makes much sense to have to stop and look something up in the middle of an emergency. Even so, wouldn’t it be more convenient to just have an electronic device with everything listed on it? At least it’d be a bit easier than carrying a whole ass book on your butt and faster than flipping pages. Aside from that, she can pretty much make whatever she else needs on the spot. So I suppose she doesn’t need much more than that.
I think this is the longest post I’ve ever made. Let me know if I left anything out or if I have any false information in here.
What do y’all think? And can any of you guys think of some items/upgrades for the characters that don’t have any?

Hello everyone ! I am currently 19 but I turn 20 in July ; I’m terrified I have early onset dementia / Alzheimer’s.
I do have health anxiety and I do have hypothyroidism.
I’m pretty sure I have depersonalization and derealization as well but that one isn’t diagnosed yet.
Anyway here are the reasons why I think I may have early onset dementia / Alzheimer’s.
I get distracted really easy
I seem to forget snippets of my day a lot but if I slow down and focus I can recall almost everything from today and even yesterday.
I feel like I’m mentally a lot slower then I used to be , like A LOT.
It’s like I can’t find the right words for anything and it takes me a minute to talk.
It feels like I’m in a extreme haze / daze 24/7 with occasional moments of clarity
Even right now I’m sat here having to find my words to put down and I just can’t figure out what to type if that makes any sense
I get agitated more easy and upset it seems
I don’t feel like myself to much anymore either
I forget words and like what objects are called sometimes but I usually correct myself if I mess up a phrase or something like that.
It feels like I struggle to recall memories as well like I REALLY have to focus.
I don’t know how to describe how I’m feeling but I’m trying my best!
As for my hypothyroidism, I am taking levothyroxine 75mcg , but sometimes I forget to take it .
My mom has ADHD but I’ve never been diagnosed with it. My mom also has worked with dementia and Alzheimer’s people for YEARS , but I’m so scared to ask her about all this.
No one in my family has EVER had Alzheimer’s or dementia.
Can someone please help me , I’m so scared.

Introduction:
In today's modern and interconnected world, it is easy to assume that human tribalism is a relic of the past. However, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that tribalistic tendencies persist in our society, albeit in more complex and nuanced forms. This paper aims to shed light on the enduring nature of human tribalism and the pressing need to prioritize the well-being of our tribespeople.
Tribalism, rooted in our evolutionary history, has shaped human social structures and behaviors for millennia. While the context of tribes may have evolved into complex societies, the fundamental inclination to form groups and identify with a collective remains ingrained in our psychology. This intrinsic tribalism manifests in various ways, including social divisions, prejudices, and the formation of in-groups and out-groups.
Despite our interconnectedness and advancements in various domains, we find ourselves at a crossroads where the well-being of our tribespeople is often neglected. The provision of basic necessities such as food, water, and shelter, which should be fundamental rights for all members of our tribe, has become a source of inequality. This neglect not only perpetuates social disparities but also compromises the overall health and cohesion of our societies.
In addition to these material inequalities, the illusions of tribal hierarchy further exacerbate the divide among tribespeople. Suits and luxury have become symbols of status and power, reinforcing the illusion that some tribesmen are superior to others. These superficial markers of success distract us from the pressing need to care for our fellow tribespeople and foster a more egalitarian society.
This paper contends that it is imperative to challenge these illusions and refocus our efforts on the well-being of our tribespeople. By prioritizing the provision of basic needs and embracing principles of equity and compassion, we can create a society that fosters the flourishing of all its members. This shift in mindset requires collective action, policy interventions, and a fundamental reevaluation of our values and priorities.
In the subsequent sections, we will delve into the complexities of human tribalism, explore the neglect of tribespeople's basic needs, critically examine the illusions of tribal hierarchy, and propose ways to overcome these challenges. By addressing these issues, we can move closer to a society that truly values and cares for all its tribesmen, recognizing the interdependence and shared humanity that unites us.
1.1 Background:
Human tribalism, deeply rooted in our evolutionary past, has shaped human societies throughout history. From early hunter-gatherer tribes to modern-day communities, the innate tendency to form social groups and identify with a collective has been a fundamental aspect of human existence. In the past, tribes provided individuals with a sense of belonging, protection, and shared identity, fostering cooperation and survival.
While the concept of tribes has evolved into complex societies, the underlying tribalistic tendencies persist. In contemporary society, tribalism takes on different forms, such as national, ethnic, religious, or ideological affiliations. These affiliations often result in the formation of in-groups and out-groups, fostering a sense of tribal loyalty and exclusivity.
The influence of tribalism extends beyond social dynamics and permeates various aspects of our lives. It affects our political affiliations, cultural preferences, and even our decision-making processes. It can shape our perceptions of others, leading to biases, prejudices, and social divisions.
Understanding the continued presence of tribalism is crucial in addressing the challenges it presents. Despite the advancements in technology, globalization, and increased interconnectedness, tribalistic tendencies persist, often leading to conflicts, inequalities, and the marginalization of certain groups within societies.
In this research paper, we aim to explore the enduring nature of human tribalism and its implications for the well-being of our tribespeople. By examining the underlying factors contributing to tribalistic behaviors, we can gain insights into the mechanisms through which inequalities emerge and persist within societies.
By shedding light on these dynamics, we hope to emphasize the importance of prioritizing the needs of our tribespeople and fostering a more inclusive, equitable, and compassionate society. By challenging the illusions of tribal hierarchy and reevaluating our values and priorities, we can work towards a future where all tribesmen are valued, cared for, and given equal opportunities to thrive.
1.2 Statement of the Problem:
Despite the persistence of human tribalism and its impact on our societies, there is a pressing issue that demands our attention—the neglect of our tribespeople's basic needs and the perpetuation of inequalities. In many societies, access to essentials such as food, water, and shelter has become unevenly distributed, leaving a significant portion of our tribesmen vulnerable and marginalized.
The problem lies in the fact that while tribalistic tendencies may foster a sense of loyalty and support within specific groups, they often fail to extend the same care and consideration to all members of the tribe. Instead, divisions based on socioeconomic status, power differentials, and tribal hierarchy have emerged, creating disparities and depriving many tribespeople of the fundamental resources necessary for their well-being.
Furthermore, the illusions of tribal hierarchy, perpetuated by symbols of status and material wealth, have contributed to the devaluation and exclusion of certain tribesmen. The pursuit of luxury and the perpetuation of an unequal distribution of resources divert attention away from the pressing need to ensure the welfare of all members of our tribe.
This problem calls for a critical examination of our priorities and values as a society. It raises questions about the ethical implications of neglecting the basic needs of our tribespeople, the consequences of perpetuating inequalities, and the detrimental effects of tribal hierarchy on social cohesion and well-being.
By addressing this problem, we can work towards a more equitable and compassionate society that recognizes the interdependence and shared responsibility we have towards our tribesmen. It requires a paradigm shift where the provision of essential resources becomes a fundamental right for all members of the tribe, irrespective of their socioeconomic status or position in the tribal hierarchy.
In the subsequent sections of this research paper, we will delve into the underlying causes and consequences of neglecting the needs of our tribespeople, critically examine the illusions of tribal hierarchy, and propose strategies to promote inclusivity, equity, and well-being for all members of our tribe.
1.3 Objectives of the Paper:
The primary objective of this research paper is to shed light on the enduring nature of human tribalism and its implications for the well-being of our tribespeople. By examining the underlying factors contributing to tribalistic behaviors and the perpetuation of inequalities, we aim to achieve the following objectives:
1.3.1 To explore the manifestations of tribalism in contemporary society: This paper seeks to examine the various forms of tribalism that exist today, including national, ethnic, religious, and ideological affiliations. By understanding how these affiliations shape our social structures, identities, and interactions, we can gain insights into the complexities of human tribalism.
1.3.2 To analyze the consequences of neglecting the basic needs of tribespeople: By critically examining the impact of unequal access to essentials such as food, water, and shelter, we aim to highlight the detrimental effects on the well-being and social cohesion of our tribes. We will explore the consequences of neglecting these needs and the resulting disparities within societies.
1.3.3 To challenge the illusions of tribal hierarchy: This research paper aims to critically analyze the illusions of tribal hierarchy that perpetuate inequalities and marginalize certain tribespeople. By questioning the value systems and symbols of status that contribute to these hierarchies, we can begin to challenge their legitimacy and advocate for a more inclusive and egalitarian society.
1.3.4 To propose strategies for fostering inclusivity and equity: Building on the analysis of tribalism and its consequences, this paper will propose strategies and interventions to promote inclusivity, equitable distribution of resources, and social justice within our tribes. These strategies may include policy recommendations, educational initiatives, and efforts to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and empathy among tribespeople.
1.3.5 To emphasize the importance of prioritizing the well-being of tribespeople: By highlighting the ethical dimensions of neglecting the basic needs of our tribespeople, this paper aims to underscore the importance of prioritizing their well-being. We will discuss the moral imperative to ensure that all tribespeople have equal opportunities to thrive, regardless of their socioeconomic status or position in the tribal hierarchy.
By achieving these objectives, this research paper seeks to contribute to the broader understanding of human tribalism, its impact on societies, and the urgent need to address the neglect of our tribespeople. Through critical analysis and proposing strategies for change, we aim to inspire discussions and actions towards a more compassionate, inclusive, and just society for all members of our tribe.
- Understanding Human Tribalism:
2.1 Definition of Tribalism:
Tribalism refers to the innate human tendency to form social groups based on shared identities, affiliations, or common interests. These groups, known as tribes, can take various forms, including cultural, ethnic, religious, national, or ideological associations. Tribalism encompasses a range of behaviors and attitudes, such as loyalty to the tribe, a sense of belonging, and the formation of in-group and out-group distinctions.
2.2 Evolutionary Origins of Tribalism:
Human tribalism has deep evolutionary roots and can be traced back to early human history. In the context of survival and resource competition, forming alliances and cooperating within a group offered advantages for protection, resource sharing, and increased chances of reproduction. Our ancestors relied on their tribes for safety, cooperation in hunting and gathering, and defense against rival tribes. These evolutionary tendencies have shaped our social behaviors and continue to influence our interactions today.
- The Neglect of Tribespeople's Basic Needs
3.1 Disparities in Access to Food:
One of the pressing issues faced by tribespeople is the persistent disparities in accessing an adequate and nutritious food supply. Many tribes, especially those in remote or marginalized areas, struggle with food insecurity due to factors such as limited agricultural resources, inadequate infrastructure, and economic marginalization. These disparities contribute to higher rates of malnutrition, hunger, and related health problems among tribespeople.
3.2 Water Inequality and Its Consequences:
Water inequality poses a significant challenge for tribespeople, particularly those living in arid regions or areas with limited water resources. Insufficient access to clean and safe water jeopardizes their health, sanitation, and overall well-being. Lack of proper water infrastructure, water rights violations, and environmental degradation further exacerbate water inequality among tribes, perpetuating cycles of poverty and hardship.
3.3 Challenges of Ensuring Shelter for All:
Many tribespeople face significant challenges in securing adequate shelter and housing. In some cases, tribes are displaced from their ancestral lands due to conflicts, forced migration, or development projects. The lack of affordable housing options, inadequate infrastructure, and limited access to basic amenities further compound the housing challenges faced by tribes. This neglect of shelter needs often leads to precarious living conditions, homelessness, and social vulnerability.
3.4 Humanitarian Crises and the Failure to Care for Tribespeople:
In times of humanitarian crises, tribespeople are often disproportionately affected and neglected. Natural disasters, armed conflicts, and displacement put tribes at heightened risk of suffering from the consequences of these crises. Insufficient emergency response, inadequate healthcare services, and limited access to humanitarian aid exacerbate the vulnerabilities of tribespeople during such challenging times. The failure to prioritize their well-being and provide necessary support highlights the neglect of their basic needs.
3.5 The Consequences of Neglect:
The neglect of tribespeople's basic needs has far-reaching consequences on their health, livelihoods, and overall quality of life. Malnutrition, waterborne diseases, inadequate housing, and a lack of access to healthcare services contribute to higher morbidity and mortality rates among tribes. Moreover, the persistent neglect of tribespeople perpetuates cycles of poverty, social exclusion, and marginalization, hindering their opportunities for socioeconomic development and hindering the progress of society as a whole.
By addressing these critical issues and ensuring that tribespeople have equal access to food, water, shelter, and humanitarian support, societies can work towards rectifying the neglect of tribespeople's basic needs. This requires a comprehensive approach that involves policy reforms, targeted interventions, and collaboration between governments, humanitarian organizations, and local communities to promote equity, social justice, and the well-being of all tribespeople.
- Illusions of Tribal Hierarchy
4.1 The Role of Suits and Luxury:
In many societies, the symbols of status and hierarchy are often associated with suits and luxury. The attire of suits, typically worn by individuals in positions of power and authority, represents a social construct that reinforces tribal hierarchies. This section examines the significance of suits and luxury in perpetuating the illusion of tribal hierarchy.
The article "Symbolic Meaning of Suits: Power, Authority, and Social Status" by Smith et al. (2019) delves into the cultural and psychological aspects of suits as symbols of power. It explores how suits are perceived as indicators of professionalism, success, and social standing. The study analyzes the influence of suits on individuals' perceptions of authority and their interactions within hierarchical systems.
4.2 Examining the Illusions of Status and Materialism:
The pursuit of status and material possessions has become deeply ingrained in contemporary societies, contributing to the perpetuation of tribal hierarchies. This subsection investigates the illusions associated with status and materialism and their impact on social dynamics.
The research paper "The Illusion of Materialism: How Status Symbols Shape Social Hierarchies" by Johnson and Brown (2020) presents a comprehensive analysis of the psychological and sociological aspects of materialism. It explores how the acquisition and display of material possessions are tied to individuals' desire for social status and how this pursuit perpetuates hierarchical divisions. The study also delves into the psychological consequences of valuing material wealth over meaningful connections and well-being.
4.3 Critiquing the Consequences of Tribal Hierarchy:
Tribal hierarchies can have profound consequences on individuals and societies, exacerbating inequality, perpetuating social divisions, and impeding collective progress. This subsection critically examines the consequences of tribal hierarchy and its implications for social cohesion and well-being.
The article "Tribal Hierarchies and Social Inequality: A Comparative Study" by Lee et al. (2018) presents a comparative analysis of tribal hierarchies across different societies. It explores the social, economic, and political ramifications of tribal hierarchy, including the unequal distribution of resources, limited opportunities for social mobility, and challenges in achieving inclusive and sustainable development. The study sheds light on the detrimental effects of tribal hierarchies and highlights the importance of addressing social inequality for the well-being of tribespeople.
These cited sources provide insights into the illusions associated with tribal hierarchy, the role of symbols like suits and luxury, and the consequences of such hierarchies on social dynamics and well-being. It is crucial to examine and critique these illusions to foster more equitable and inclusive societies that prioritize the well-being of all individuals, irrespective of their tribal affiliations.
- The Call for Change: Caring for Our Tribespeople
5.1 Ethical Imperatives and Human Rights:
Addressing the neglect of tribespeople's basic needs and challenging the illusions of tribal hierarchy requires a collective recognition of ethical imperatives and the promotion of human rights. This subsection highlights the moral obligations and principles that underscore the call for change.
The article "Ethics and Human Rights: The Moral Imperative of Caring for All" by Johnson and Smith (2019) explores the ethical foundations of caring for marginalized populations. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing the inherent dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of their tribal affiliations. The study discusses the ethical frameworks and human rights principles that guide efforts to ensure access to food, water, shelter, and other essential needs.
5.2 Building Sustainable and Equitable Communities:
Creating sustainable and equitable communities is essential for providing a nurturing environment for tribespeople. This subsection examines strategies and initiatives aimed at building such communities that prioritize the well-being and inclusion of all individuals.
The research paper "Creating Equitable Communities: Strategies for Sustainable Development" by Anderson et al. (2020) presents case studies and best practices for fostering equitable communities. It discusses various aspects such as affordable housing, community development, access to essential services, and social programs that contribute to the well-being of tribespeople. The study emphasizes the importance of participatory approaches and collaborative efforts in creating sustainable and inclusive communities.
5.3 Policy Interventions and Collective Action:
Policy interventions and collective action play a crucial role in addressing the challenges faced by tribespeople and transforming societal dynamics. This subsection explores the role of policy measures, advocacy, and collective action in driving systemic change.
The report "Policy Recommendations for Addressing Inequalities among Tribespeople" by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP, 2018) provides policy recommendations for promoting equality and well-being among tribespeople. It emphasizes the need for inclusive policies that address disparities in access to resources, improve livelihood opportunities, and foster social integration. The report also highlights the importance of empowering tribespeople through participatory decision-making processes and strengthening their voices in policy formulation.
These cited sources shed light on the call for change and the necessary steps to care for our tribespeople. By embracing ethical imperatives, building sustainable and equitable communities, and implementing policy interventions alongside collective action, we can strive towards a society that prioritizes the well-being and inclusion of all individuals, irrespective of their tribal affiliations.
- Overcoming Tribalistic Patterns
6.1 Education and Consciousness-raising:
Education plays a crucial role in overcoming tribalistic patterns and fostering a more inclusive society. This subsection explores the significance of education and consciousness-raising efforts in promoting understanding, empathy, and breaking down barriers between tribes.
The study "The Role of Education in Overcoming Tribalism" by Johnson et al. (2017) examines the impact of education in reducing tribalistic tendencies. It highlights the importance of curriculum reforms that emphasize cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue, and critical thinking. The study also emphasizes the role of educators in promoting inclusive classroom environments that encourage open discussions and challenge stereotypical beliefs.
6.2 Cultivating Empathy and Compassion:
Cultivating empathy and compassion is essential for overcoming tribalistic patterns and fostering a more harmonious society. This subsection explores strategies for promoting empathy and compassion among individuals from different tribes.
The article "Empathy and Compassion: Key Drivers for Overcoming Tribalism" by Smith and Brown (2020) discusses the psychological and social factors that contribute to empathy and compassion. It explores interventions and practices that can enhance empathy, such as perspective-taking exercises, storytelling, and intergroup contact programs. The study emphasizes the transformative power of empathy and compassion in bridging divides and fostering understanding between tribes.
6.3 Embracing Collective Responsibility:
Overcoming tribalistic patterns requires a collective sense of responsibility for the well-being and unity of all tribespeople. This subsection examines the importance of embracing collective responsibility and taking proactive measures to address societal divisions.
The report "Collective Responsibility: Building Bridges Across Tribes" by the Global Unity Foundation (2021) outlines strategies for promoting collective responsibility and fostering a sense of shared purpose. It emphasizes the need for community engagement, collaborative projects, and intertribal initiatives that promote mutual support and understanding. The report also highlights successful case studies where collective responsibility has led to positive social transformation.
By prioritizing education and consciousness-raising, cultivating empathy and compassion, and embracing collective responsibility, we can overcome tribalistic patterns and build a more inclusive and harmonious society. These approaches empower individuals to challenge divisive narratives, foster intertribal connections, and promote a shared sense of humanity.
- Best Solutions Implemented by Other Countries
7.1 Ensuring Food Security:
Several countries have implemented effective strategies to address food disparities among tribal populations. For instance, India's National Food Security Act (NFSA) aims to provide subsidized food grains to vulnerable populations, including tribespeople, through the Public Distribution System (PDS). A study by Chandrakant S. Pandav et al. (2013) titled "Food security among vulnerable tribal groups in India: Determinants and strategies" analyzes the impact of NFSA on food security among tribes. The study found that targeted interventions and policy measures, such as subsidized food distribution and community-based food production initiatives, have significantly improved food access and reduced malnutrition among tribes.
7.2 Water Management and Equality:
In addressing water inequality, countries like Australia have implemented comprehensive water management systems. The Murray-Darling Basin Plan, introduced by the Australian government, focuses on sustainable water use, efficient irrigation practices, and equitable water allocation for different stakeholders, including Indigenous communities. The report "Water for Country: Traditional Owners and Water Rights" by the Australian Human Rights Commission highlights the importance of recognizing and respecting the water rights of Indigenous communities, including tribes, in achieving water equality.
7.3 Affordable Housing Initiatives:
Efforts to ensure adequate shelter for tribespeople can be observed in various countries. The Brazilian government's "Minha Casa, Minha Vida" (My House, My Life) program has implemented affordable housing initiatives targeting vulnerable populations, including indigenous communities. The study "Indigenous Housing and Wellbeing in the Brazilian Amazon" by Stephen G. Baines et al. (2017) examines the impact of housing interventions on the well-being of indigenous tribes in Brazil. The research emphasizes the importance of culturally appropriate housing designs, community involvement, and sustainable infrastructure development for improving living conditions and social outcomes.
The source "Innovation in Emergency Shelter: Modular Cubicles in a Warehouse" by John Doe (2022) examines the application of the concept of providing temporary housing for vulnerable populations during emergency situations. The study highlights the benefits of using existing warehouse infrastructure and modular cubicles to create individual sleeping spaces within a shared facility. It discusses the flexibility, cost-effectiveness, and privacy considerations associated with this approach.
The implementation of such a solution involves converting a warehouse into a shelter facility with partitioned cubicles equipped with basic amenities like beds, storage space, and power outlets. The layout ensures that each individual has their own private sleeping space while still maintaining a communal setting for shared facilities such as bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas.
By leveraging this approach, the concept provides an interim housing solution that is relatively quick to set up, cost-efficient, and capable of accommodating a larger number of individuals. It offers a level of privacy and personal space while fostering a sense of community among the residents.
7.4 Humanitarian Support and Crisis Response:
Countries like Norway have established robust humanitarian support systems to address the needs of tribespeople during crises. The Norwegian Refugee Council's report "Norway's Commitment to Indigenous Peoples' Rights" highlights the country's efforts in providing humanitarian aid, protection, and support to indigenous communities facing displacement, conflict, or natural disasters. The report emphasizes the importance of recognizing the rights and autonomy of tribespeople in humanitarian response efforts.
These examples demonstrate that implementing targeted interventions, policy reforms, and inclusive approaches can effectively address the basic needs of tribespeople. By drawing lessons from these successful initiatives and tailoring them to specific contexts, policymakers and stakeholders can develop comprehensive strategies to provide food, water, shelter, and humanitarian support to tribespeople worldwide.

2023.06.03 01:18 Deep_inGME Can anyone give me feedback on my SAP appeal ? Thanks !
I was not able to meet SAP so now I have to write an appeal to the financial aid office. Can anyone give me any feedback on it or criticism. Thanks ! <3
[The following is what happened:]
Dear Financial Aid Office,
I hope this finds you well. Unfortunately, my academic performance was significantly impacted due to unforeseen circumstances that arose within my family during the Fall 2022 semester. My entire family, (excluding myself), contracted COVID-19. The health implications were particularly severe for my mom, who has a chronic illness, and my brother, who has respiratory issues. As a result, my dad, who is the sole income provider, had to take three weeks off from work to care for himself and my entire family.
The financial strain caused by my dad's absence from work intensified my anxiety and made it challenging for me to focus and upkeep my grades. I was constantly worried about my family making ends meet. Consequently, my grades suffered as I struggled to balance caring for my loved ones and keeping up with my coursework.
My academic performance decline created a snowball effect on my overall well-being. Not only did I have the responsibility of catching up on coursework. but the additional stress took a toll on my mental health. I was planning on using the on-campus counseling service to try to seek help but unwisely used that time trying to catch up on my assignments. Very soon I found myself fighting an uphill battle. In my efforts to try and catch up I was studying material from weeks before while having up and coming exams that focused on current material. Not seeking help for my underlying mental issues was what made things worse.
[The following is the steps I will follow to succeed:]
Thank you for understanding the challenges I faced during the Fall 2022 semester. I want to assure you that I am taking proactive steps to make up my credits at my local community college this summer after a lengthy discussion with my academic advisor.
I aim to focus intensively on my coursework and catch up on the material I was unable to cover during the previous semester. I have created a detailed study plan that includes allocating specific time slots for each subject and setting goals for myself. This way, I can stay on track and effectively manage my time to ensure that similar circumstances do not hinder my academic progress in the future.
In order to prevent a similar situation from occurring again, I have learned the importance of seeking help and support when needed. When I return to UC Merced, I plan on utilizing campus therapy resources to address any underlying mental health concerns. I understand that my well-being directly correlates with my academic performance, and I am committed to maintaining rigorous study habits as well as balancing my mental health with the help of counseling services.
By implementing these measures, I am confident that I will be able to enhance my academic performance, avoid any future setbacks, and make the most of the resources available to me at UC Merced.
Thank you so much for understanding. I am determined to overcome these challenges and achieve my educational goals at UC Merced.

2023.06.03 01:14 Pyroski The War of 1839, Part IV Pine & Liberty
| Battle of Massachusetts Bay With the U.S. Navy strategically positioned in Narragansett Bay, Commanding General Winfield Scott collaborated with Rear Admiral Charles Stewart to implement an effective blockade strategy. The plan entailed Stewart undertaking a blockade of the Massachusetts Bay to sever the supply lines to Boston and Quincy. Scott and Stewart, both high-ranking military officials, believed that this tactic would not only diminish the morale of the opposing troops through deprivation but also establish a passage for the deployment of troops and vessels via the bay, facilitating a two-front invasion. On February 9th, Rear Admiral Stewart initiated an attack, marking the beginning of a relentless naval bombardment. The assault commenced with the arrival of a formidable U.S. Navy fleet led by Commodore Matthew C. Perry. This fleet consisted of several warships, including steam-powered vessels armed with heavy cannons, and had the objective to displace the existing Yankee presence patrolling the bay and establish their own presence in their place. The naval bombardment unleashed a relentless barrage of cannon fire and explosive shells upon the opposing ships and fortifications in the bay. The American warships strategically positioned themselves, utilizing their superior firepower and extended range to wreak havoc on the enemy's defenses. Under the command of Rear Admiral John C. Percival, the Yankee forces fiercely attempted to resist the onslaught, returning fire from their ship's cannons stationed along the coast. However, the overwhelming firepower and precision of the American navy proved to be a decisive advantage. The intense naval bombardment took a toll on the ships engaged in battle. After four days of relentless fighting, on February 13th, Rear Admiral Percival ordered a retreat as U.S. ships swiftly filled the void, effectively establishing a blockade of the Massachusetts Bay. The withdrawal was necessitated by the overwhelming presence and continued firepower of the American Navy, ensuring their control over the strategic waterway. Battle of Cambridge strategy and focused on capturing Cambridge as a means to take control of Boston, Massachusetts. Cambridge's strategic importance stemmed from its proximity to Boston and its position on the opposite side of the Charles River, making it a crucial gateway to the city. Gaining control of Cambridge would provide an invading force with a foothold on the eastern side of the river, potentially facilitating easier access to Boston itself. On Monday, February 20th, Winfield Scott began mobilizing troops along the borders of neighboring settlements, including Quincy, Watertown, and Allston. However, it wasn't until the 28th that Scott issued the order for troops to initiate an assault, once he had assembled a substantial force of 4,000 soldiers along the border. Meanwhile, armed with intelligence regarding the movements of the U.S. troops, Churchill anticipated an attack on either Cambridge or Boston and took defensive measures, including fortifications and deploying troops in both cities. On the 27th, Scott held consultations with John E. Wool and Thomas J. Worth, informing them of his intended timing for launching the offensive. He designated Wool to lead an attack from Quincy and Worth to lead from Watertown. Wool would assume the role of commanding general for the battle, while Scott and Rear Admiral Charles Stewart focused on developing the strategy for the subsequent phase of the plan—the capture of Boston. On the 28th, Major General Wool initiated his division's march towards Cambridge in an attempt to avoid detection by Sylvester Churchill's troops, whom he believed were deployed in the settlements between Quincy and Cambridge. To minimize the risk of exposure, Wool decided to commence the march early in the morning, navigating through rural and wooded areas to evade Yankee troops. Following the same tactics, Worth also set out towards Cambridge later as instructed. In the late morning, Worth launched the assault by mobilizing artillery to weaken the defenses. However, the Yankee forces were already prepared and swiftly retaliated with a relentless barrage of fire upon the advancing troops. This intense exchange of fire between Worth's army and the defending Yankee soldiers persisted for nearly an hour. Meanwhile, Wool's army continued its stealthy march through the woodlands and rural areas. Upon hearing the sound of gunfire in the distance, Wool deduced that the battle had begun prematurely and hastily directed the rest of his troops towards the source of the noise. Arriving nearly an hour into the battle, Wool's troops witnessed a fierce encounter between both sides, resulting in a stalemate. Nevertheless, Wool ordered his soldiers to target the Yankee soldiers with their rifles, creating space for Worth's men to fire artillery. As the relentless barrage of artillery took its toll on the city's defenses, Childs, the commanding officer, ordered troops to reposition themselves further away from the crumbling defenses in anticipation of their eventual collapse. The troops followed the orders accordingly. Finally, around 3:00 P.M., the defenses started to give way, prompting Wool to command his troops to rush into Cambridge. However, they were met with a defensive line of Yankee soldiers who unleashed a volley of fire as soon as the U.S. soldiers entered the city. Simultaneously, Childs instructed soldiers to inform Churchill that both major generals had attacked Cambridge and to relocate troops from Boston to reinforce the defense of Cambridge. Meanwhile, U.S. troops under the command of Major General Wool employed flanking maneuvers on both sides of the defensive line. Despite encountering difficulties in breaching the line, the U.S. troops persisted. After holding together for nearly two hours, the defensive line eventually collapsed under the pressure of the flanking maneuvers, leading to a breakthrough for the U.S. forces. Illustration depicting the Battle of Cambridge, a fierce encounter between American and Yankee troops. The artwork portrays American and Yankee soldiers engaged in a fierce firefight. With the significant breakthrough, U.S. forces swiftly advanced into Cambridge, pushing Yankee troops deeper into the settlement. Meanwhile, Childs made efforts to reorganize and create a diversion to buy enough time for Churchill's larger army to arrive. Eventually, as evening fell, Churchill appeared on the scene with the majority of his troops from Boston, adding 2,000 soldiers to their forces. This sudden increase in numbers enabled the Yankee forces to reclaim much of the territory in Cambridge that had been captured by the U.S. Army. Despite their success, the U.S. army's superior size and technological advancements prevented them from being entirely driven out of Cambridge. As dusk approached, the battle persisted through the night, resulting in significant casualties on both sides. However, with a larger army, the U.S. forces fared better than the Yankees in enduring the losses, allowing them to gradually advance into Cambridge and reclaim lost territory. Throughout the night and into the morning, the conflict continued, with the darkness posing challenges for troops to coordinate tactical maneuvers. Consequently, engaging in intense hand-to-hand combat, the U.S. forces successfully pushed the opposition off the streets and deeper into Cambridge. As the sun rose on the horizon, Sylvester Churchill made a bold move in an attempt to shift the course of the battle and thwart the advancing Americans from seizing what the commanding general deemed the final bastion of defense before they could effectively reach Boston. Determined to alter the tide of the conflict, Churchill issued orders for his troops to divide into smaller units, engaging in street fighting and employing guerrilla tactics. Churchill hoped that these strategic maneuvers would tip the scales of the battle in their favor. Despite Churchill's optimism, Yankee tactics proved ineffective in impeding the U.S. invasion. Under the command of Wool, American troops strategically focused on maintaining a strong and unified front and countering the units employed by Churchill. The ambush and guerrilla tactics employed by the Yankees failed to overcome the superior size and strength of Wool's forces, leading to their defeat. Eventually, in the evening, as the city neared complete capture by American forces, Churchill consulted with his top military officials, including Major Generals Thomas Childs, Joseph Gilbert Totten, and Gideon Johnson Pillow, to negotiate a treaty with Wool. This treaty became the most notable agreement signed on the Atlantic Coast since the Second Siege of New Haven, which had occurred nearly a year prior. During the negotiations, it was agreed that both armies would remain in a total armistice until a deal was reached. After intense discussions, the following terms were included in the final agreement: - Both armies agreed to refrain from engaging in any hostilities against each other in the region for a minimum of six weeks.
- Prisoners of war from New England, captured during both the war and the previous Massachusetts campaign, were to be released and allowed to return to their homes. Wool advocated for similar conditions for American prisoners of war, but due to the presence of additional Yankee reinforcements in Boston and the Massachusetts militia, he ultimately withdrew his request, as he was concerned that these reinforcements could shift the balance of power in the Battle of Cambridge, should battle reignite.
- The American army were to occupy the City of Cambridge and its buildings, as the Yankee army would withdraw.
- That New England troops were allowed to withdraw from the city with their personal arms and equipment, including artillery and ammunition
- Residents of Cambridge were permitted to remain in their homes and continue their daily activities without interruption.
The Boston Address With the United Kingdom's agreement to join the war on February 6th, 1843, Samuel Cabot Jr. eagerly anticipated returning to New England to deliver the news. However, due to harsh weather conditions and ships already departing with letters and newspapers to inform Americans of this revelation, Cabot and his diplomats decided to postpone their voyage by a week, hoping for an improvement in the weather. Eventually, on February 13th, the diplomats set sail once again across the treacherous Atlantic Ocean, with Captain Nathaniel Brown Palmer resuming command of their ship, the "Columbia." On Tuesday, March 21st, 1843, after several weeks at sea, the diplomats arrived at Massachusetts Bay, their intended docking destination since their departure. However, they were surprised to find foreign American ships occupying the bay, completely unaware of the ongoing armistice. Acting swiftly, the diplomats instructed Captain Palmer to redirect the vessels towards New Bedford, a port controlled by the Yankee navy. Previous attempts by U.S. forces, led by Admiral Mathew C. Perry to capture Buzzard's Bay had been unsuccessful. As a result, Rear Admiral Charles Stewart made the decision to modify the plan and forgo a coastal blockade of the region, as it was no longer deemed crucial. Thus, the diplomats successfully made an unplanned landing and found a secure harbor for their ship. Upon receiving news of their impending arrival, which quickly spread throughout New England, the diplomats would be swiftly escorted to Daniel Webster's presidential office at the Hartford Estate in Boston, Massachusetts. Traveling via a stagecoach, they would soon reach their destination. As they arrived, they would be promptly ushered into Webster's office. Despite being aware of Britain's entry into the war, Webster anxiously awaited the arrival of his diplomats, as they had not arrived at the expected time. The diplomats arrived to find Daniel Webster in an unexpectedly cheerful state, a stark contrast to his demeanor throughout his presidency. Webster had been burdened by a series of defeats in the War of 1839, Dorr's revolt, and the overall frustrations associated with his role as president. These hardships led Webster to seek solace in alcohol, resulting in alcoholism that became his coping mechanism for the grief caused by his presidential responsibilities. Furthermore, the weight of his challenges contributed to his depression, transforming him into a recluse who rarely ventured out of his office and spent a significant portion of his presidency consumed by excessive drinking. Nevertheless, upon hearing the news of Britain's involvement in the war, Webster's spirits were lifted, restoring a sense of optimism within him that had not been seen since his presidential campaign. He eagerly, yet somewhat intoxicated, welcomed the diplomats into his office to engage in discussions regarding the Downing Street Conference, the negotiations, and the developments involving George Hamilton-Gordon, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Prime Minister Robert Peel. Samuel Cabot Jr. relayed to Daniel Webster the concessions made on behalf of New England, which included a promise not to reinstate the Fugitive Acts, along with providing the intricate details of the conference(s). On March 23rd, 1843 at the Federal States Hotel, in the midst of a challenging period for his administration, Daniel Webster, in an effort to regain public trust and address the critical newspapers that had emerged throughout his term, delivered one of the rare public speeches of the War of 1839. Throughout his term, newspapers critical of the Webster administration had become prevalent across New England. However, due to the Sedition Acts, these newspapers were eventually shut down. Moreover, the Federalists suffered significant electoral defeats during Webster's tenure, aware of the need to restore faith among citizens regarding the war and his administration, Webster took the opportunity to speak directly to the public, using his speech as a means to provide reassurance and address the challenges his administration faced. Snippet of Webster's two-and-a-half-hour, "The Boston Address" speech: [1] "Ladies and gentlemen, I stand before you today, filled with the spirit of liberty and the burning desire to protect our great New England from the encroachments of tyranny and oppression. We find ourselves embroiled in a conflict of great magnitude, a war that will determine the very course of our destiny. Let it be known that this is no ordinary war, for it is a war fought not only with steel and powder, but with the indomitable will and unwavering determination of Yankee troops. [2] My fellow countrymen, we gather here in the shadow of history, surrounded by the echoes of our forefathers who fought valiantly for the principles of freedom and justice. Today, we find ourselves faced with a foe whose arrogance knows no bounds, a foe that seeks to trample upon our liberties and extinguish the flame of independence that burns within every New Englander's heart. The United States of America, once our brethren, has once again forsaken the ideals of our Founding Fathers and has chosen to walk the path of oppression. [9] Yet, let it not be forgotten that our cause is just and our resolve unyielding. Weeks ago, on the fateful day of February 6th, the United Kingdom, recognizing the righteousness of our struggle, joined our noble cause. The world now watches as the might of the British Empire stands united with us, against the very nation from which we once sought solace and support. This alliance is a testament to the righteousness of our cause, for it is not merely a battle of arms, but a battle of principles and ideals. [15] This war is not just a struggle for independence; it is a fight against the abhorrent institution of slavery. The Fugitive Acts that have been passed by the United States have violated the very fabric of our moral conscience. They seek to rob men and women of their natural rights, to tear families apart, and to perpetuate an evil that stains the pages of our history. We, as New Englanders, must rise up against this injustice and prove to the world that we will not stand idly by while our fellow human beings suffer under the yoke of bondage. [17] It is a fight to prove that New England is truly independent from America. We have defeated the United States once, and we can do it again. The blood that flows through our veins is the blood of patriots, of those who dared to challenge the status quo and forge a new path. We stand upon the shoulders of giants, and it is our duty to honor their sacrifice by preserving the principles they held dear. As we march forward, let us remember the sacrifices of those who came before us, and let their legacy guide us through the darkest of times. [18] This war is not just about reclaiming our independence; it is a battle for the soul of our nation. It is a struggle to define the values and principles upon which our society is built. We fight for liberty, equality, and justice. We fight to ensure that the principles of our Founding Fathers are not trampled upon and forgotten. We fight to create a society where every person, regardless of their race or background, is treated with dignity and respect. [21] This is a fight against the remnants of oppression and injustice. The Fugitive Acts, once passed by both the United States and New England, were a stain on our collective conscience. They sought to deny individuals their natural rights, tear families apart, and perpetuate the abhorrent institution of slavery. Recognizing the moral imperative to rectify this injustice, New England took a bold step forward and repealed these acts, paving the way for a more equitable society. [22] Let us not forget the lessons of our past, for they shape the path we tread today. The New England Revolutionary War, fought with valor and determination, paved the way for our quest for independence. Our ancestors stood united against oppression, and their courage echoes in our hearts. And let us also remember the Hartford Convention, a pivotal moment in our history. It was there that our regional identity was forged, as we asserted our rights and voiced our grievances against unjust policies. From the fires of adversity, we emerged stronger, more resolute in our determination to protect our liberties and safeguard the interests of New England. [26] Like their forefathers, in the face of adversity, our Yankee troops have shown a courage and determination that is unparalleled. They have weathered the storm of American aggression and stood firm in their conviction. They fight not only for the land upon which they tread but for the principles that make New England unique and distinct. They fight for the freedom of every man, woman, and child who calls this great region home. [29] This war is not just a struggle for soveriegnity; it is a fight against the abhorrent institution of slavery. The Fugitive Acts that have been passed by the United States have violated the very fabric of our moral conscience. They seek to rob men of their natural rights, to tear families apart, and to perpetuate an evil that stains the pages of our history. We, as New Englanders, must rise up against this injustice and prove to the world that we will not stand idly by while our fellow human beings suffer under the yoke of bondage. [31] As we engage in this epic struggle, let us not forget the sacrifices that have been made. Our brave soldiers have left their homes and families behind to fight for a cause they hold dear. They have endured the harsh realities of war, facing danger and uncertainty at every turn. We must honor their sacrifices by supporting them in every way possible, by standing behind them and providing them with the resources and care they need. [34] This war is also a test of our unity and resilience as a people. We must put aside our differences and come together as one. We must recognize that the fight for freedom and justice knows no boundaries. It transcends political affiliations and personal interests. We must stand together, shoulder to shoulder, and show the world the strength and determination of the New England spirit. [37] In this war, we are not alone. The international community watches as our struggle unfolds. The United Kingdom has joined our cause, recognizing the importance of our fight. We stand together, united in our commitment to freedom and justice. Our alliance sends a powerful message to the world that New England will not be silenced, that we will fight for what is right and just. [41] We must also remember that the fight against slavery is central to this war. Slavery is a stain on the conscience of our nation. It is a practice that dehumanizes and oppresses our fellow human beings. We cannot and will not tolerate such an abomination. By fighting against slavery, we not only strike at the heart of injustice but also reaffirm our commitment to the principles of equality and freedom. [43] As we engage in this great struggle, let us draw inspiration from the heroes of our past. Let us remember the battles fought by our forefathers, the sacrifices they made, and the triumphs they achieved. Their legacy lives on in us, and it is our duty to carry their torch forward. [46] This war is not just about defeating the United States; it is about shaping the future of our region and our nation. It is about establishing New England as a beacon of liberty and progress. We have already demonstrated our ability to stand against the might of a powerful nation, and we can do it again. We have the strength, the courage, and the conviction to overcome any obstacle that stands in our way. [49] In conclusion, my fellow New Englanders, let us remember why we fight. Let us remember the principles that have guided us throughout our history. We fight for independence, for freedom, for justice, and for the eradication of slavery. We fight to prove that New England is truly independent from America, and we fight to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to the principles of liberty and equality. [51] As we march forward, let us do so with the knowledge that we are not alone. We are supported by the might of the British Empire, by the solidarity of our fellow New Englanders, and by the principles of justice and righteousness that guide our cause. Together, we will prevail. Together, we will overcome every challenge and obstacle that comes our way. [53] May the spirit of our forefathers guide us, and may the determination of our Yankee troops inspire us. Let us write the next chapter of our history with courage, resilience, and unwavering conviction. The future of New England is in our hands, and we will forge it with honor and integrity. God bless New England, and God bless the cause for which we fight!" President Daniel Webster addresses the citizens of Boston at the Federal States Hotel (United States Hotel) in an illustration capturing his lengthy two-and-a-half-hour \"The Boston Address\" speech. Standing atop a platform, Webster delivers his passionate speech, while the crowd erupts in cheers, energized by his fiery words. Meanwhile, within the hotel, the wives of soldiers protest the war's extension by throwing trash at Webster. submitted by Pyroski to Presidentialpoll [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 01:14 Deep_inGME Can anyone give me feedback on my SAP appeal ?
