Continuing misery of my XM4 buds...
2023.06.03 09:54 Every_Shopping7038 Continuing misery of my XM4 buds...
I got hit with the same rapid battery drain reported by many in the right bud after battling with Sony to replace the left bud (under warranty at the time). Given the hassle of getting the first bud replaced (I was without my earbuds for 2 months and had to battle through rounds of refusals to get a replacement) I decided to go the quick route and just order a replacement bud. Replacement bud has arrived - but I can't pair with the old one and I can't get them into Bluetooth pairing mode to connect to my phone (yes, I've done soft and hard resets - and the NFC connection doesn't work). Sony website says I need to return to them to a service centre for "configuration". I'm not doing that because 1/. I'll have to pay them 2/. Having had Sony kit since the Walkman, I'll never pay them another penny of my cash for their trash tech and dreadful "customer service". Being treated like a scammer when their tech fails and it's a known issue is not acceptable. So, my question is - how do I manage to configure the earbuds (so that they're paired together and with the case) myself? I can't find anything online for this. Any help gratefully received. I've bought Bose earbuds in the meantime - but may as well fix the XM4s on principle and as a backup. (Never had an issue with them until they died and Sony behaved badly.)

2023.06.03 08:39 Wendywen312 What are the LED display classification introductions, what is the LED display driver chip
What are the
LED display classification introductions, what is the LED display driver chip
The main feature of the
LED display is that its manufacture is not limited by the area, it can reach tens or even hundreds of square meters, and it is used in various indoooutdoor public places to display various information such as text, graphics, images, animations, and video images. , with strong advertising rendering and shocking power. The focus of this article is the introduction of
LED display classification and driver chips by Shenzhen Xingyuhe Electronics technicians. I hope it will be helpful to everyone.
Real shot of LED digital tube display
(1) Classification of
LED display LED screens are divided into indoor
LED screens and outdoor LED screens according to the use environment;
LED screens are divided into single-color LED screens, dual-color LED screens and full-color LED screens according to the display color;
LED screens can be divided into 16 and 32 according to the gray level. , 64, 128, 256 grayscale LED screens, etc.; LED screens are divided into text LED screens, graphic
LED screens, synchronous video LED screens, TV video
LED screens, etc. according to display performance.
(2) System structure of
LED display - Display unit: This is the main part of the LED display screen, which is composed of luminescent materials and driving circuits. The indoor screen is the unit display board of various specifications, and the outdoor screen is the unit box.
- Main controller: the function is to buffer the input RGB digital video signal, transform gray scale, reorganize, and generate various control signals.
- Switching power supply: The purpose is to convert 220V AC power into various DC power supplies for various circuits.
- Transmission cable: The display data and various control signals generated by the main controller are transmitted to the screen body by the twisted pair cable.
- Scanning controller: The function of this circuit board is data buffering, generating various scanning signals and duty cycle gray scale control signals. /6. Dedicated display card and multimedia card (video card): In addition to the basic functions of a computer display card, the dedicated display card for LED full-color screen also outputs digital RGB signals, line, field, blanking and other signals to the main controller. In addition to the above functions, the multimedia card can also convert the input analog Video signal into a digital RGB signal (that is, video acquisition).
- Other signal sources and their external devices: including computers, TV sets, Blu-ray, DVD, VCD, camcorders, etc.
(3) Introduction of
LED display driver chip
As a high-tech product,
LED display has attracted people's great attention. The intelligent full-color display that uses computer control and integrates light and electricity has been applied in a wide range of fields. Its pixels use LED light-emitting diodes, and many light-emitting diodes are arranged in a dot matrix to form an LED array, and then form an
LED screen. Through different LED driving methods, images with different effects can be obtained. Therefore, the quality of the LED driver chip plays an important role in the display quality of the
LED display. LED driver chips can be divided into general-purpose chips and dedicated chips.
General-purpose chips are generally used in low-end
LED display products, such as indoor single-color and double-color screens. The most commonly used general-purpose chip is 74HC595, which has 8-bit latch, serial-parallel shift register and three-state output function. Each channel can output a maximum non-constant current of 35mA.
Since the LED is a device with current characteristics, that is, under the premise of saturated conduction, its brightness changes with the change of the current, not with the change of the voltage at both ends. The biggest feature of the dedicated chip is to provide a constant current source output to ensure the stable driving of the LED and eliminate the flickering phenomenon of the LED. It has the characteristics of large output current and constant current, and is suitable for occasions that require high current and high image quality, such as outdoor full-color screens and indoor full-color screens.

2023.06.03 08:19 Opposite-Bus2506 DTS neural X is awesome on PS5
| I finally obtained an hdmi 2.1 receiver Onkyo 6050. Ps5 connected directly to it and 120hz 4k pass throught to the TV. I have it hooked up to 5.1.2 Polk Signature series setup with front heights and dual subs. I know lpmcm is lossless but switching to bitstream dts and letting the receiver upmix the height channels using Dts neural x just takes the soundstage to a new level. I tried Alan Wake Remastered initial dream sequence when he enters the first room..and I swear it felt like my roof was about to be blown away. I notice no difference in fidelity loss between dts and pcm, but the dts neural x upmix is hard to pass up and ya it is better than dolby-atmos umpix submitted by Opposite-Bus2506 to playstation [link] [comments] |
2023.06.03 07:49 euclids-element 2020 HS Grad Who Doesn't Understand Safety Schools
(Note: This is from a 2020 high school grad, I am college class of 2024)
Demographics
Gender: Female
Race/Ethnicity: White
Residence: Southwest (at time of college application)
Income Bracket: Upper Middle Class
Type of School: Public (I went to three high schools, for freshman year, I was at a reasonable school with reasonable ratings that had good offerings, but as a freshman, only honors was open to me, I took all the honors I could. For sophomore & junior years, I went to a tiny, middle of nowhere school that offered barely anything, I would have been valedictorian had I stayed cause I took all the APs plus more online. For senior year, I went to a pretty good school with a ton of AP offerings, which destroyed my ranking.)
Hooks (Recruited Athlete, URM, First-Gen, Geographic, Legacy, etc.): None
Intended Major(s): Biomedical Engineering & Math
Academics
GPA (UW/W): 4.0/4.44
Rank (or percentile): Top 10%, not top 5% :(
# of Honors/AP/IB/Dual Enrollment/etc.: AP Microeconomics, Calc AB, & Language (5), AP US History (3), AP World History, Biology, & Literature (no test, I was able to dual enroll these through a local community college), AP Art 2D (did not test), dual enrolled multivariable calculus & differential equations
Senior Year Course Load: AP Literature, AP Biology, multivariable calc, differential equations, AP World History, TA for Pre-Calc
Standardized Testing
SAT I: 1570 (770RW, 800M)
ACT: 36 (36E, 36M, 36R, 36S)
SAT II: 800 Math Level 2, 780 (? +/- 10) Physics
Extracurriculars/Activities
Nothing majorly exciting here.
#1 Varsity Track & Cross Country (4 years each, 10-15 hours/week)
#2 Math-IlY-Er (summer math program, but the less prestigious version, learned a lot of combinatorics & non-Euclidean geometry, 5 weeks during the summer before my senior year)
#3 Math Club (only senior year, placed at several local competitions)
#4 Math Circle (at a local college, only senior year)
#5 GSA (founded and led a branch of GSA at the last school in the district to have one, organized fundraising events and brought together LGBT+ students at a school where it was generally unaccepted)
Awards/Honors
#1 National Merit Semifinalist
#2 Won several awards (and a bunch of money) in some national trigonometry competitions
#3 Other minor, local things that probably made no difference
Letters of Recommendation
One from my math teacher who loved me dearly, and I loved her (she stayed an extra year past her planned retirement to finish teaching me). However, she spoke English as a second language and was very Russian and foreign to expressing feelings. Probably a 6/10. One from my English teacher, who was an amazing writer. I read this, and it was beautiful. 10/10. My counselor from my senior year kind of hated me cause I wanted to go to 'fancy' schools instead of the school most kids there wanted to go. Refused to let me read the letter, even after it was submitted. 3/10.
Interviews
MIT - 5/10. It was in-person. We had a pleasant conversation, but I don't think we connected at all, and I probably didn't stand out in a good or bad way.
Essays
Looking back, my primary essay was kind of lame. I tried to draw some crazy metaphor between running and math. Who knows what I was on about. My supplementals were probably a bit better, but I shouldn't have mentioned wanting to double major at schools who really don't want you to double major. I wrote about unique experiences like growing up around the world but I think all my essays were a bit cliche and forgettable.
I tried to write an extra essay about how moving high schools had affected my rankings and made me look like I hadn't taken advantage of opportunities, but I am not sure it was well written or well received.
Decisions
Acceptances:
Colorado School of Mines (they don't even have a BME program, just applied here cause my mom wanted me to, got in on rolling decisions with a $14k/year scholarship)
Georgia Tech (attending! I was going to get in-state tuition despite my OOS application, so this was a great deal, and I was so fed up with applications that I couldn't deal with waitlists for schools that weren't even my dream school, I am double majoring in BME & Math here)
Waitlists:
Duke (declined)
Rice (declined)
Vanderbilt (declined)
Rejections:
Caltech (deferred -> rejected. Ouch, this was my dream school for as long as I could remember)
MIT (deferred -> rejected)
Johns Hopkins
Stanford
Additional Information:
Before you judge my list of applications, understand that I had no idea how college applications worked. I thought that top 1% in standardized tests = top 1% of college admissions. No one in my family had ever applied to the really prestigious colleges, and everyone had always went where they wanted to, and I was told I would too. In hindsight, my application was pretty forgettable beyond my test scores. Georgia Tech was my safety school lol. It turned out okay though, I love it here. Also, it's been awhile since I applied haha, so I think I am forgetting stuff, but these are the major details.

2023.06.03 07:11 Computer_Red Issue with audio on IPhone 11 Pro Max
I am having an issue with my IPhone 11 Pro Max audio. Whenever I am not in a call, I receive no audio output from any applications or media playing. But when I am in a call, whether it be in discord or facetime, I am able to hear the audio playing through any application. I am on IOS 16.5 (20F66).
I have already tried resetting all of my settings, restarting the phone, messing with the silent switch, and turning off Bluetooth, and the issue still persists, any help would be greatly appreciated!

2023.06.03 07:03 Plouut Hx stomp to replace pedalboard and THR10II
Hi, I have been thinking about getting rid of my set up to go more minimalist.
I currently have a pedal board ,which I really like : bad monkey overdrive, catalinbread blood donor fuzz, obne visitor chorus, electric lady flanger, ehx canyon delay , catalinbread topanga reverb, boss noise gate, ditto looper. This pedal board is going though my yamaha thr10 II.
I like the yamaha amp, I'm not using any effects as my pedalboard is enough for me, but I like the possibility to change the amp simulator, and especially the Bluetooth for backing track.
So after browsing extensively, I have seen the line 6 series. I have my eyes set on the hx stomp as it's quite cheaper than the helix series, while being compact, so convenient for taking in a studio.
First question, will it be bough to replace my current set up? I think the hardest to replace will be the visitor, which has very nice dual chorus capabilities, and maybe the ehx canyon with the shimmer effect for example.
I guess I should replace my yamaha with a normal speaker?
I have been disappointed by seeing there is no Bluetooth, meaning i need a computer for all the set up of the HX stomp, a mobile app like the one for THR would have been great. But it seems there is no serious competitor with the same quality and price, having Bluetooth on the market, is it correct?

2023.06.03 06:11 alt_zancudo Bluetooth issues with dual boot.
I have PC with Ubuntu and Win10 on dual boot. Whenever I connect to my Bluetooth earphones on one OS and switch to the other, I have to remove the device there and reconnect.
Honestly, it is getting quite annoying to remove and reconnect every single time I switch OS. What do I do?

2023.06.03 05:56 BouncingDeadCats Need recommendations for home system
I’ve read several threads by @DavidO_Pgh on low cost home systems but am hoping to get a bit more guidance.
Budget: $1000 - 2000, possibly more
My wife loves to sing with her friends and currently uses a portable all-in-one box and an iPad for YouTube songs. She paid $600 but the audio quality is terrible and sometimes echoes.
I have plenty of audio equipment but unsure if any of it is usable for this purpose.
I currently have 5.1 home theater. Speakers are in ceiling. Subwoofer is in corner.
Video and audio sources are passed through the receiver on a rack in nearby closet. Video signal is output to TV on wall. Everything is controlled by a Harmony remote.
Also have tube amp, DAC, sources, KEF LS50 and Paradigm reference speakers in separate listening area. Probably bad to use these items?
Ideally, I would like a - 3 or 4 wireless mic set up - equipment (mic receiver and mixer??) mounted to existing AV rack - video/lyrics display on TV - song selection/control on iPad or laptop
What components should I get? How do I integrate into existing system and have a clean, unobtrusive look? Do I route lyric video signal through AV receiver or cast it using iPad Bluetooth?
Thanks for your advice.

2023.06.03 03:25 CreatedJustToWrite Question for FLAT EARTHERS ONLY: would you trust an app with these permissions?
2023.06.03 01:53 hatsnak Basic questions for first stereo setup
Howdy! I've got a few basic questions as I look into buying my first stereo setup. (Previously, my roommates have owned all the receivers and speakers, etc.)
If I would like to use the same speakers for TV/movies, games, and music, do I of necessity need to shop for an AVR? Or is there stereo-centric gear that I could hook my TV up to?
How would I go about trying to find a subwoofer that matches well with speakers I already have? I have a pair of small speakers that aren't a typical brand: Joey Roth's ceramic speakers. I like the sound on the high- to midrange, but they're really lacking on the low end. I'm not sure how to shop for a sub that would sound good with them. I'd buy the sub sold by Joey Roth, but I can't find it on sale without having to buy another set of speakers.
And generally, are there brands that make receivers/amps/preamps that are smaller and/or cooler-looking than the standard black/silver box stereo gear? I'm moving into a fairly small apartment and won't have a ton for room for big stereo components. And (inconveniently) I care a fair bit about the aesthetics of stuff in my space.
Boilerplate: Budget and location - Ideally, I'd like to spend $1000 or less for a receiveamp, sub, and speakers (if I end up buying new ones). I'm moving from Seattle, WA, USA area to Portland, OR, USA area. A really neat audio gear shop near me is Turntables & Trails.
How the gear will be used - I'd like to listen to vinyl records and CDs, as well as for watching TV/movies and playing games.
New or used - I sorta prefer to buy used in general, but I worry about getting ripped off for something as expensive and fragile as audio gear. I usually check craigslist, OfferUp, Mercari, eBay, and Goodwill, as well as local shops.
Past gear experience - My roommate has an Onkyo AVR with Onkyo 7.1 satellite speakers. The AVR is very big and runs hot, and it's a bit complicated to use, but I guess I'd buy another one. His speakers are only ok - they never wow me, and I rarely feel like I appreciate the surround sound.
I currently have Joey Roth Audio ceramic speakers, Harmon/Kardon Soundsticks II stereo desktop speakers+sub, and IKEA FREKVENS mono bluetooth speaker + sub. The Joey Roth speakers sound really clear and crisp in high and mids, but really do not impress in the lows. I actually like the Soundsticks a lot, they sound great to me, but they don't really work too well unless I'm sitting at the desk in the sweet spot. And the FREKVENS speaker is fine for a portable-ish bluetooth speaker, but it doesn't wow me.

How To Check My Husband WhatsApp?
Of all the instant messaging platforms currently available, WhatsApp is the most popular. People all over the world use it to send and receive messages, share multimedia files, and make online video and voice calls. Due to this immense popularity and widespread use of the platform, it has become a goldmine of information about the person using it.
Do you think your husband is talking to someone behind your back on WhatsApp, or that he might blame you? In this case, WhatsApp is the perfect place to find a clue about it. To do this, you need to view your husband’s WhatsApp messages without his phone.
Is It Possible To Read Someone’s WhatsApp Messages Without The Target Phone?
A few years ago, the thought of reading WhatsApp messages without the target phone would have been bizarre. However, it is now possible to hack someone else’s WhatsApp messages when you cannot access their mobile phone.
Contact us at [email protected] for technical problems about your task or issue regarding hacking services.
Technological advancements make this easier than you can ever imagine. You can even spy on the latest Android phone or iPhone with the latest technology and without root or jailbreak.
How To See My Husband’s WhatsApp Messages Without Touching His Phone Using Browser?
- Open your Chrome browser. Then enter the web address: web.whatsapp.com.
- This introduces you to the web version of WhatsApp.
- Open your husband’s WhatsApp and select WhatsApp Web.
- A QR scanner will appear.
Scan it with the QR code that will appear in your Chrome browser and voila! You can see your husband’s WhatsApp messages.
Does the QR code method to read WhatsApp messages have any drawbacks?
Yes, while simple and free, the WhatsApp web or QR code method has certain drawbacks. These are:
- An icon will appear in the message bar on the target phone to notify the user.
- Your husband may find out that you are using his WhatsApp.
- You may have to use his phone over and over again. So this is not a permanent solution.
Can I use my husband’s WhatsApp on my phone?
How to check my husband WhatsApp on my phone? Whatscan for WhatsApp Web is a great way to review and validate your fears. To do this, proceed as follows:
- Download Whatscan for WhatsApp Web from the Google Play Store and install it on your phone.
- Then open it and select your preferred language.
- Scan the WhatsApp QR code from your husband’s phone.
- After that, you can view all WhatsApp messages and media files on your phone.
Again, this method requires the QR code. So you cannot spy on an Android phone remotely when using it. So let’s take a look at the next method.
What’s the best way to read WhatsApp messages remotely?
The last method that allows you to remotely read your husband’s WhatsApp messages without his phone is to use a cell phone spy app or WhatsApp tracking software. The Spymaster Pro app can be the best choice for this. How to waste this application without wasting time:
- Visit the official Spymaster Pro website and create an account.
- To do this, select your spouse’s phone type along with a username and password.
- Then choose the subscription that suits you.
- When you are done, follow the instructions in the email.
- Now you can spy on your husband’s WhatsApp chats.
Can WhatsApp track software spy on WhatsApp chats without a target phone?
You don’t need the target user’s phone to use WhatsApp tracking software like Spymaster Pro. This way, you can easily read their WhatsApp messages without compromising your identity and trust. However, the launch of these applications is different for iOS and Android phones. Let’s see how:
How to Read WhatsApp Messages on iPhone
Does your husband have an iPhone and want to read his WhatsApp messages? With Spymaster Pro you don’t have to worry too much. This mobile phone monitoring software offers a no installation and no jailbreak solution for iPhone. So just do the following:
- After purchasing Spymaster Pro, log in to your device with the information in the email.
- You will then be prompted for the iCloud credentials of the target iPhone.
- Fill them in correctly and you will be able to read WhatsApp messages in the Spymaster Pro dashboard.
What Are The Benefits Of WhatsApp Tracking Software?
- You can read WhatsApp messages remotely.
- Your husband will never know about it.
- You can even retrieve and read the messages he deleted.
- Besides WhatsApp, you can keep track of many other things like almost any other social platform, call logs, GPS location, phone book, emails, etc.
- Jailbreak or root is not required.
- The application can also be used as parental control software and as an employee monitoring application.
Conclusion
This is all you can do to see your husband’s WhatsApp messages without his phone. We have fully proven the use of WhatsApp tracking software for this. However, we’ll let you decide which method is best for you. If you choose to use a
LULZSEC SPY APP, make sure your plan is compatible with your husband’s phone.

2023.06.03 01:45 Friendly-Mushroom493 Xreal Beam - An Engineers Perspective
I know many of us are excited about the Beam launch, so I wanted to share my thoughts on what this hardware could be and if we will be able to run apps like an AndroidTV…
So, based on comments here made by the company, the device does run an OS. If I were to guess, it’s probably running a skinned version of Android running a new version of nebulas code base is kiosk mode; and I suspect we’ll have the ability to unofficially side load apps on directly shortly after getting into users hands.
More or less I think the Beam is a screenless android “phone” with a build in video capture IC using a few-year old SOC.
Admittedly I could be completely wrong, but that’s how I would do it if I was trying to push an embedded hardware device out quickly like this; nebula was clearly built on android, so wouldn’t make sense to port the code to a different OS when they have something that works already (and easily configured to support video capture, miracast receiver, etc). Makes sense to not support any apps or launcher as they don’t reallly have the time or the team size to design and release an entire ui and interface for launching and interacting with apps (or developer SDK) with this quick of a product launch without feeling gimmicky or poorly thought through, like meta had to spend the time to do for the quest product line. Idk, just my $0.02.
I think dev users will put something together similar to sideloading android apps on the quest.
I’m mostly curious what the hardware specs truly are (we know it at least has a WiFi chip because of miracast support, and is most likely a WiFi/Bluetooth chip) or if DRM will prove to be trouble after sideloading. 🤷♂️
Could also be running on an embedded version of Linux, which would make me ever more excited, but seems unlikely with Linux nebula support not yet achieved. But never know.
Curious what the rest of you may think 🤔

2023.06.03 01:26 Thiemenator How do I bypass the ON/STBY button so it turns on when receiving power?
Doing my first electronics project with a custom stereo furniture piece. I'm combining an old Dual amp-turntable set (HS141 from '75) with a modern Philips "Micro Music System" and building that in the body of a SoundMaster NR995 (speakers included). Hope I'm not taking on too much for my first project...
Focussing on the Philips set: whenever it comes from a cold and dark start, it starts in standby (Dsp flashing/clock) and you have to press the ON button to fully start it. I want to bypass that standby mode amd with that the whole button so it goes directly to the "ON" state when receiving power.
I intend to connect it to the power switch from the Dual amp, which bridges the direct power input from the socket to the PSU, so I'll keep the PSU from the Philips too.
I thought about just removing the tactile and bridge it, but on a long button press, it goes back to "cold" (a simpler STBY tbh, just a single led).
Here is the service manual:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1233934/Philips-Mcm1150.html#manual Other smaller question: When powering on the Dual after x amount of time, the speakers pop and you can visibly see the drivers moving. Is this normal/concerning? The speakers are higher Watt than the amp so in theory I wouldn't damage them (2×20W, Amp 2×10W).

2023.06.03 01:14 irisheye37 Second monitor no signal
I have a dual monitor setup with both monitors connected via displayport. They have both been working until sometime last night where one of them stopped receiving any signal from the gpu. I have confirmed every port on my gpu is functional by testing them each with the working monitor, I have also switched the cables and confirmed they are both functional. I have also attempted to use the HDMI port but have the same issue of the monitor receiving no signal.

2023.06.03 01:04 AaronsAmazingAlt How did you get into ABBA?
I'll start with my story: I believe my first encounter with ABBA's music was when I was around 3-4 years old, shortly after the first "Mamma Mia!" movie was released on DVD. My parents put it on as background noise quite frequently as they grew up with ABBA songs, and I found myself mesmerised by the music. They also had the soundtrack on CD, so I heard that in the car a lot. I think "Honey, Honey" was my favourite ABBA song back then.
In 2011, I received a hand-me-down CD copy of ABBA Gold as a present from my dad. I ripped it onto my iPod Touch, and I listened to it very frequently. It was the Australian version, but for some reason, iTunes displayed information for the international version. ABBA Gold is still one of my favourite "greatest hits" albums, but I prefer the international version nowadays.
In 2015, I discovered Ian Cole's ABBA Omnibus fan site, which helped me go further down the ABBA rabbit hole. Eventfully, after becoming old enough to send emails, I became an regular on his "Ask" column, where he displayed his encyclopaedic knowledge of the group. Other sites I liked included ABBA on CD (which documented early CD releases) and ABBANatic (one of the original ABBA fan sites).
In the coming years, I would collect ABBA CDs, mainly unusual budget compilations, with the intention of buying a full set of their proper albums at one point. In the meantime, I listened to the 2001 remasters of ABBA's discography on Spotify, and they still have a special place in my heart.
When Voyage was announced, I put the early singles in high rotation (especially "Just A Notion") but was disappointed with the non-single tracks on the album. I was also disappointed with the lack of airplay the album got, since the general public pretty much dismissed it as "something that happened". I fulfilled my dream of seeing an ABBA tribute band (Bjorn Again) a few months later, and I really enjoyed their crowd-pleasing renditions they performed, along with the strange, corny skits they did in between songs.
And that's my story so far. What about yours?

2023.06.03 00:23 sliuoa Looking for a slight upgrade from my GTX 1050 PC for Valorant.
1. What will you be doing with this PC? Be as specific as possible, and include specific games (ex: resolution, FPS, settings) or programs you will be using.
- I mainly play Valorant on my PC. My current PC runs it at almost max settings (only details at low, everything else at high) at around 140 FPS but I have a 165 hz 1080p monitor. I would like to get it to 165 at max settings. I believe just the GPU may need to be upgraded?
2. What is your maximum PRE-TAX budget before rebates and shipping?
- My budget is $800 if I were to build a whole new PC but I would prefer to just replace parts on my current build for much less if possible.
3. When do you plan on building/buying the PC? Note: beyond a week or two from today means any build you receive will be out of date when you want to buy.
- I can buy the parts now or wait for a better deal down the line if recommended.
4. What, exactly, do you need included in the budget? (ex: toweOS/monitokeyboard/mouse/etc)
I believe I just need a new GPU. I'm willing to upgrade my RAM and SSD as well if needed. I don't know if the RAM and SSD I have right now are good. I am satisfied with my monitor, mouse, and keyboard.
5. If reusing any parts (including monitor(s)/keyboard/mouse/etc), what parts will you be reusing? How old are they? Brands and models are appreciated.
- I'm keeping my headphones, monitor, mouse, and keyboard as they are less than 1 year old.
6. Will you be overclocking (ex: CPU/GPU/RAM)? If yes, are you interested in overclocking right away, or down the line?
- No, I don't even know how to overclock things.
7. Are there any specific features or items you want/need in the build? (ex: SSD, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, VR, VirtualLink, tensor cores, large amount of storage or a RAID setup, CUDA or OpenCL support, etc)
- One thing I found weird is that I have a wifi thing attached to a long cable that I have to attach to the PC to get wifi. Maybe something to get rid of this? Do I need to get 2 exact same SSDs to get maximum benefits?
8. Do you have any specific case preferences (ex: mITX/mATX/mid-towefull-tower sizes, styles, colours, window or not, LED lighting, etc.), or a particular color theme preference for the components?
- I really don't care about RGB. Just something cheap that will fit everything.
9. Do you need a copy of Windows included in the budget? Note: some post-secondary students can get Windows 10 for free.
10. Will you be upgrading this PC in the future (ie: will you swap out better parts later on or will you build an entirely new tower later)? If so, when?
- I will upgrade if a great deal comes around but unlikely once I replace any parts this time around.
11. Do you have a brand preference? (ex: AMD/Intel for CPUs, AMD/NVIDIA for video cards, etc)
- No preference. Whatever works best.
12. What are the specs of your old PC / laptop? Do you want to see if it can be upgraded instead? If so, paste its build from PCPartPicker here.
- I bought my current PC used last year for $450. I would prefer to upgrade parts if possible.
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8500 CPU @ 3.00GHz
GPU: ASUS GTX 1050
RAM: G. Skill 16 GB DDR4-2400 (1200 MHz)
Storage: Samsung 960 PRO 512 GB + Samsung 850 EVO 256 GB NVME SSD
13. Extra info or particulars:
- Ultimately, I'm looking to upgrade my PC to best value parts.

2023.06.03 00:06 Fuzzy_Supermarket322 HB1 to E3?
I’m dual citizen. I have an approved H1B (on one of my passports) and I’m currently in the US since I worked for my current employer on OPT and they sponsored my H1B. The H1B starts counting on 6/6/23 – 6/6/2026. I have an appointment on the embassy at the end of June to get my H1B stamp.
I recently received an offer for another job and one of the lawyers at the company said that they will need to do a transfer of my H1B (is one of my passports) to an E3 (to my Australian passport). That they can do a change of status within the US.
My questions are:
If the change of status doesn’t get approved will I still be able to keep working for my current employer under H1B?
If I go back to my home country (not Australia), get my h1b stamped on my passport (not the Australian one) and then come back to the US, enter with the H1B while the process of change of status to E3 is going on with premium processing or it’s already been given an approved I-797, would that cause any problems? I could then quit my H1B job, and start right away with my E3 job and afterwards when I leave the US, I can go to an embassy and get my E3 stamp?
Thank you!!

And here is the code I'm using:

2023.06.02 23:09 MusicianAbe9205 Tutorial: Gyro with controller in rallysimfans Richard Burns Rally
Recently I started looking for how to set up my DualSense to use with Gyro steering in rallysimfans Richard Burns Rally and there wasn't any info on the internet. Sure, this game is best played on a steering wheel, but if you only have a controller with gyro, it is the next best thing.
Also, it is not as easy as adding a non-steam game and using steam overlay - RBR just crashes this way.
After a few days of messing around I finally nailed it so here's how to configure RBR with gyro controls (I only tested with wireless method using bluetooth adapter + DualSense; have not tested wired with usb cable):
- Download GlosSI installer from https://github.com/Alia5/GlosSI (when asked to during installation, install ViGEM driver as well)
- Restart your PC when asked
- Run GlosSI from desktop and add new shortcut in it pointing to RSF_Launcher.exe located in "your RBR installation"\rsf_launcher\ folder (pretty sure you can put any other application instead like notepad or anything else really, but I haven't tested it. As long as any of the selected programs are running through steam, it "should" work)
- It is important that you check "Emulate DS4" in advanced options of that same GlosSI shortcut otherwise gyro won't work and there'll be other problems too.
- When you click the Steam icon in GlosSI, shortcut will be added to Steam. Provided everything works from now on, you never have to run GlosSI again.
- You can now open Steam and set up gyro to left or right "joystick" for that shortcut
- It is also very important to opt in for "Steam beta" in Steam client because, without it, gyro starts drifting after few minutes and you can barely keep your car on the straight (as of this day, June 2nd 2023)
- Run RSF_Launcher from Steam and wait few seconds until the ViGEM window automatically opens and then closes
- From within RSF_Launcher, under Controls, set Throttle and Brake pedal to inverted (I also checked automatic gearbox because I am a bad driver)
- Run RBR from RSF_Launcher application (NOTE: Don't use Vulkan graphics mode or game will crash in combination with GlosSI - there is a workaround at the end of this post)
- When you are setting up controls in RBR, for Throttle and Brake make sure you HOLD DOWN left / right trigger BEFORE you assign them to Brake and Throttle. If you do not, game will pick up Button function that is initiated on start of the axis - this is the way DualShock4 / DualSense controllers are.
- That's it.
---------------------------
Workaround for using Vulkan: You basically start the game with Vulkan render first (from outside of Steam), then you ctrl+alt+delete into windows task manager , start the (second) RSF_Launcher but this time from Steam. Now you alt+tab back into the game and under controls go to "redetect controllers".
---------------------------
Hope it helps someone. Game is definitely drivable this way and perhaps you can even become better driver if you manage to finetune all the little things like steering and brake / throttle axis filters / curves.
Popular controllers like DualSense / DualShock4 also have 3 axis available after setting up all the basic axis, it is probably possible to use these for handbrake and clutch - the problem is that you'd have to split the axis first, somehow, because these axis will stay on 50% value otherwise.
It is also important to say that this does not interfere with Steam in any way - I play other games with gyro controls and nothing changed for them.
