2023.06.04 10:29 Thick_Mick_Chick Song of Soliloquy

If there was one thing Soliloquy hated? She really hated being proven wrong. She knew she couldn't be right about everything but she HATED being 100% sure she was wrong. It made her look stupid and stupid was something Soliloquy most certainly was not.
She wasn't like the other kids. Mama said that was okay. We weren't meant to be like everyone else. What makes us different also makes us special. Soliloquy believed it because there's no way Mama would lie to her.
Mama was so smart. She'd picked up on all of the little things Soliloquy did as a baby and, then, a toddler. Mama knew Soliloquy was such a "special" girl. Only she truly believed in Soliloquy. She'd never known her Daddy. Mama didn't care for talking about him too much. From what little Mama did say about him? It's probably better off that way.
She'd been so little when the first incident happened. Mama knew for certain then. There'd been no doubt left in Mama's mind. Mama had been busy and didn't get Soliloquy's bottle warmed up for her in a timely fashion. She was just a baby and had no way of controlling her anger. It wasn't poor Mama's fault, either. She had her hands full being a single mother. It just exploded. Mama said that it scared her so! She was grateful she hadn't been close to the microwave because the glass went everywhere. Mama knew from that day that she could never be late with Soliloquy's bottle ever again.
Now? This turdy boy thinks a tomato is a fruit?! Why would he think that?! EVERYONE knows tomatoes are vegetables!
"Dummy! I'm trying to tell you! If you weren't so freaking poor? Maybe you could afford a cell phone and Google it, Stupid!" Grover Dill was not a nice, cute, clean nor smart boy. All he was to Soliloquy was trouble and headaches. He'd bullied her every since kindergarten and he hadn't let up one day from then until now. He hasn't even slowed down in the 6th grade. Mama always tried to talk Soliloquy down when he tormented her so. She really hoped she made it home this time so Mama could do it, again. Soliloquy knew if she had another "spell"? Mama would be so disappointed. Please, please, please, let her make it back home, again.
"At least I'm not named after a Sesame Street muppet!" Soliloquy could feel tears sting her eyes.
"And your name means you talk to yourself!" Grover just had to say something. He couldn't just let it go.
She was walking away. She was trying so hard. It was happening, though. She wasn't getting flushed. She was getting HOT!
"GROVER CLAUDE DILL! DON'T SAY NOTHIN' ELSE TO ME!" Soliloquy was burning up.
"NOTHIN', WHITE TRASH!" Grover was cackling and Soliloquy was coming unglued.
She kept trying to distract herself. It wasn't helping. Where would it go this time? What would it mean? She should "put it" somewhere. But put it where?
"Back off! Calm down!" Soliloquy shut her eyes and kept repeating the 2 phrases, over and over, more to herself than anyone. Something was cracking, splitting, something was breaking!
Soliloquy opened her eyes to see Grover Dill standing underneath a tree with a very heavy branch that was cracking and breaking. Of course? Being the hillbilly, redneck, The Hills Have Eyes inbred that he is? He was too busy cackling like an old mountain witch to notice.
"I should tell him. I should. Mama would be disappointed, but I just can't take anymore of him!" Soliloquy debated with her conscience. She knew it was wrong. You ain't suppose to be doin' wrong. Sweet little baby Jesus, she just couldn't take him, anymore. So? Soliloquy settled on, "What Mama don't know won't hurt her."
She looked up at the branch. It honestly could've went either way, at that point. She knew which way it would go this time.
The tree branch groaned in protest as it continued to break away from it's perch. Then? CRAAAAAAACK! In the words of John Mellencamp (one of Mama's favorites since she's from Indiana, too)? It came "Crumblin' Down."
It all seemed to happen in slow motion. The branch completely broke free and plummeted towards Grover's useless head. Soliloquy thought, "It's going to be more useless in about 3 more seconds." And? Soliloquy stifled a giggle.
Boom! Soliloquy couldn't believe what she'd seen. The branch fell on Grover just as he threw his head back to laugh harder. BAM! Smack in his face! Grover let out a guttural scream as the branch slammed his face and the rest of his body folded like an accordion as he fell to the sidewalk. He was breathing really funny and it sounded wet. Oh, no. She thought it would just knock him out! This was more than she could deal with. Mama would know how to handle this. She was so sure of it!
"Better look around and see if anyone was watching." Soliloquy began scanning the school, playground and sidewalk she was on. School had been over for awhile. No one was around. Don't ask? Don't tell. She ran all the way home.
Contrary to the skid mark named Grover Dill's opinion? She most certainly was not white trash. It was true that all that Mama could afford was a trailer. The trailer was clean and Soliloquy had her own room and she was happy. She didn't have a problem so why did that poster child for abortion have to say such mean and hurtful things? Did that make him deserving of a death sentence? As Soliloquy peaked the little hill right before her house? She saw Mama out in the front yard. Thank the Lord! She'll know what to do.
"Soliloquy, Baby? That you?" Mama looked up as she rounded the corner. Soliloquy ran to her until she almost passed out.
"Mama! I didn't mean to, Mama!" Soliloquy began to plead her case just as soon as she saw her.
"Baby! What's happened?" Mama's furrowed brow let Soliloquy know she was very concerned.
"Mama! I swear, Mama!" Soliloquy finally reached Mama and hugged her like she'd never let go.
"Come inside, Baby, and tell me what happened." Mama took Soliloquy inside and they both sat on the couch. Soliloquy was so happy to be home if not happy about her circumstance.
"Mama! It was Grover, again!" Soliloquy was tearing up
"What did he do this time, Soliloquy?" Mama asked as if she were irritated that his name even got brought up.
"I didn't know, Mama. I really thought tomatoes were vegetables. Grover told me they are actually fruit." Soliloquy timidly approached the subject.
"And that was the fight?" Mama knew there had to be more to this.
"No, there was more. That's just what started it." Soliloquy replied and Mama nodded her head in acknowledgement.
"He just wouldn't stop, Mama. He just..." Soliloquy burst into tears.
"Soliloquy? Did you have another spell?" Mama always got right to the point.
Welp. There it was. The time to cough it up. "I tried not to, Mama. Please, believe me!"
"Soliloquy? Tell me what happened and tell me what happened right now. I'm not angry, but I do need to know." Mama was getting more upset.
"Deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth." Soliloquy said to herself.
"Okay. We kept arguing and he was saying really nasty things and I was getting so mad, Mama!" She couldn't hold back.
"He was really hurtful and hateful and I... I....." Soliloquy tapered off.
"You had a spell?" Mama already knew.
"Yes, Mama. I did." Soliloquy replied and stayed silent.
"How bad was it, Baby?" Mama resigned herself to the fate of knowing it has most certainly happened, again.
"Bad, bad, Mama." Soliloquy placed her head in her hands and openly sobbed.
"Baby? Is he dead?" Mama needed to know.
"I don't know, Mama. I just don't know." Soliloquy was racked with sobs.
"Baby, this isn't your fault. I was hoping it wouldn't get this bad. I was hoping it'd would never go this far. This is something you just can't control. There's no way you can when you get older. It happened to me, too." Mama said without realizing she'd just turned Soliloquy's world upside down.
What did she mean it happened to her, too? Wait, what?
"Mama? What do you mean it happened to you?" Soliloquy was certain she'd feel better once she talked to Mama but she most definitely was not feeling better.
"Soliloquy, you've had these spells every since you were born. Well? Before you were born? I had them."
Mama had the spells when she was younger, too?
"I was born like you. I had spells from time to time and it was usually out of my control until I got older. I learned how to self soothe so nothing really bad happened. I thought it was all okay. I really did. Well, when I met your Daddy? I thought I'd never have another spell, again. I really did. I loved him so much. In the beginning? He was good to me, too. Then? Bethany. She just had to come along and screw it up. She was so much prettier and thinner than me and your Daddy just fell head over heels. I was crushed. I was devastated. How can I compete with skinny ass Methany? What could I do to make sure your Daddy stayed with me? Well, I thought of what women have thought of since time immemorial. I got pregnant. Your Daddy was happy at first. He really wanted you. As time went on? I got bigger and more unattractive as I got further along. Pregnancy isn't normally when a woman looks her best. Well, that just made your horn dog Daddy run to Bethany even more. I was losing him and couldn't do a thing about it. One day? A few weeks before I was due to have you? Your Daddy came to me and informed me that he's moving in with Bethany. He said he wanted nothing further to do with me and would see me in court over visitation and support. He very much wanted to be in your life, but not mine. Well, who in the hell does he think he is? I'll be damned if he's coming to see you but doesn't want me! So? As he stood at the bottom step of our front porch? Flames started licking his workboots and he screamed. I just laughed with delight the whole time he was burning up! When I had you? The "spells" moved onto you and left me." Mama just smiled at Soliloquy like she just told her what the weather was like outside.
Soliloquy's head was spinning. Mama killed Daddy because he only wanted me and not her? No. NO! THAT'S NOT IT!
"Mama, you just got mad and it got away from you, right?" Soliloquy hoped she said yes.
"Oh, no, Baby. The second he told me he wanted you but not me? I crisped him like bacon!" Mama laughed. She actually laughed.
Soliloquy didn't know how to get out of this. Mama actually KILLED her Daddy. She never got to meet him. She never got to love him. She'd never known anything more than the crappy little podunk town she'd been born and raised in. She could've known more. She could've known nicer. She could've known better.
"What's the matter, Baby? You look unhappy." Was Mama actually serious? What's the matter? WHAT'S THE MATTER? SHE HAS GOT TO BE KIDDING!
It started happening. The flames licked onto the outside of the trailer and climbed up its walls and doors.
"Soliloquy! What are you doing? Why are you burning up the trailer? Stop it this instant!" Now Mama was the one angry.
"No, Mama, I can't do that. You wanted me all to yourself. Well? Here I am. Both of us can head down to hell together." Soliloquy looked at her with a sinister smile. It was then she just had to laugh. Sesame Street was on the T.V. behind Mama sobbing. Guess Grover got the last laugh after all.

2023.06.04 10:29 fresasfrescasalfinal First scene critique? I can swap :)

Hi guys! I'm looking for feedback on my opening scene. Feel free to post your own work and I'll give you my feedback as well. If anyone is interested in beta reading, I'm happy to swap with you. The whole thing is 75k words. Thanks in advance!
Chapter One
Lcovic, Valtavi Territory
Ruzja was laying with her head against Mila's chest, eyes closed against the bright sunlight, listening to the tall grass that engulfed them waving in the cool breeze. She shivered. Summer was officially over. The sound of Mila's heart beating matched up with the drums in the distance for a few moments before diverging again. It was the last day of the harvest festival in Lcovic and Ruzja would be packing up and heading home to Shumec the next day. As she thought what a pity this was, she heard footsteps approaching.
Her eyes snapped open and she sat up, reaching to move the grass aside and see who was coming. She looked down at Mila.
"Hey! Get up!" She shook her shoulder.
Mila's eyes opened and blinked up at Ruzja. "What?"
"It's my Chief," Ruzja replied in a hushed tone.
Mila laid her head back down and closed her eyes again. "So?"
"Damn it," Ruzja grabbed her cedar-bark tunic with one hand and dragged it along the ground as she moved through the grass on her hands and knees towards the woods at the edge of the meadow. The footsteps got closer.
"Ruzja." The voice of the elderly Chief was calm and steady. Ruzja stopped, defeated. She looked behind her to see his smiling face. She turned to face him on her knees as his legs emerged from the grass before her. He squatted down so their eyes were level. "The Shaman will be overjoyed. She's always taken a liking to you," he said softly.
"Please don't tell her," Ruzja whispered. The Chief frowned and reached out to gently touch her bare arm.
"The idea of being chief was daunting when I was chosen, but it's a great priviledge. You will grow into your role, the Shaman will guide you well."
Ruzja sat back and pulled her knees up to her chin. She felt her chest constricting, she didn't know how to reply. She just nodded. The Chief smiled again and patted her on the knee before standing up.
"I'll see you at the feast." With that he turned and began to slowly dissapear from view into the grass again. A moment later, Mila's head popped up a ways away, scanning the meadow until she spotted Ruzja. She waded over to her.
"You couldn't keep it a secret forever," she said, sitting down beside her.
"Easy for you to say," Ruzja replied quietly.
"I would gladly become the shaman's apprentice if the role hadn't already been taken," Mila said. They sat in silence for a while. "Come on, we'll eat and dance. Hey, now we can dance together in front of everyone."
Ruzja shook her head. "You go, I'll come later." Mila shrugged.
"Whatever." She got up and headed off towards the sound of the beating drums in the distance. Ruzja waited until her head disappeared among the grass and then put her fingers to her lips and let out a long, drawn out whistle. A while later she heard rustling again, and the slow, methodical thuds of Malin approaching. The nose of the great boar emerged from the grass and he grunted as he came to a halt. "Hey buddy," Ruzja greeted him. He pressed his wet nose, the size of her outstretched hand, against her round cheek and she smiled despite herself. She reached up to scratch him behind his giant ear, his black bristles poking at her pale, calloused palm.
"No more hunts for us," she said solemnly. She ran her hand along his left tusk, which was shorter than the right and jagged at the end from being broken off. She'd been one of the youngest to ever go on a bear hunt, but Malin's foot had slipped and they'd taken a tumble into a ravine over some boulders. The bear got away that day as the others came to help her, and she still carried some embarassment about the whole ordeal. "I guess we'll never redeem ourselves in another bear hunt."
Malin grunted again as he folded his front legs underneath himself and laid down with a thud on the ground beside her. Ruzja leaned against his head, closing her eyes. She breathed deeply. Whatever awaited her didn't start until she got home. She had a few more days of normality to look forward to.
She debated drifting off to sleep when she heard more footsteps approaching, they were unmistakably Hanzi's. He had a certain way of walking, as if he were in a hurry no matter what the situation, crashing through everything in his path. She didn't bother opening her eyes to know it was him.
"Hey!" he called when he was a ways away.
"How did you find me?" she asked as she heard him sit down beside her.
"Little hard to miss with Malin next to you."
Ruzja chuckled. "That's true."
"The Chief had a little announcement to make…" Hanzi drifted off.
The spot between Ruzja's eyebrows creased and her dark eyes, like slivers of the moon, finally opened. She studied Hanzi's face, an illuminated golden brown in the evening sunlight, his curls haphhazardly braided and draped over his shoulders reaching down to his chest. "So everyone knows?"
Hanzi nodded without saying anything. Ruzja groaned. Her friend began to stand up and reached his hand out to her.
"Come on, no use wallowing in it. Let's go eat." He lifted her up and they began to walk towards the festival with Malin in tow.

2023.06.04 10:28 Bafana_Bafana Starlink roaming limit

Hi all,
I live in a very remote region in South Africa where Starlink won't be launching anytime soon. However, our neighbors Mozambique have it. I already know that if I were to get a dish that it'll work, as other have already shown, but I am curious about a few things:
  1. Can I buy a standard kit from someone in SA and then sign up to Starlink using a VPN in Mozambique/Rwanda/Nigeria with roaming activated? i.e sign up for an account only without needing to order a dish as I will already have one, and then link that account to the dish.
  2. While Starlink don't seem to be enforcing their 2 or 3 month roaming limit before the dish needs to return to it's home, in the event that they do, will I be able to de-link the account from the dish and simply sign up to another account in Rwanda/Nigeria/Mozambique using a VPN and link the new account to that same dish?
Thanks for any advice!

2023.06.04 10:27 Honthedob Should i pursue

So my best friend is going out with this girl, and she introduced us to all her friends last october. One of her friends instantly caught my eye but after finding out she had a boyfriend i stopped thinking about it. However this girl broke up with her boyfriend in early february and i’ve kind of tried to put my foot in the door ever since. On friday night me and a friend went out and we met this girl and two of her friends. We were chatting away for ages and she was definitely giving off signs that she was into me( putting her head on my shoulder and putting my hand on her thigh etc. The 5 of us then went back to mine cause it was too late to get a taxi, and we all went to sleep on the couches. Me and the girl slept on one couch together cuddling and then after about 5 minutes she initiated a really slow intimate kiss. Come morning then they left and she took my coat with her for the journey home. But now im on delivered for a day? What should I do?

2023.06.04 10:27 aquadovetwo Guilt is killing me

I’m a head of a department and was privy to a highly confidential information about our company being sold to pieces in the next couple of months. There is a very big uncertainty as to when or how it will occur. If the company does not get sold, a drastic change has to be made through budget cuts. Either way my team will be heavily impacted. I’ve built this great team of strong performers, and despite crazy heavy workloads, to my surprise, the team actually bonded well. It’s been awesome working with these people and everyone is actually looking forward to team events and weekly lunches. Everyone helps each other and there is a high level of respect.
I did, however, upon learning of the changes, decided to accept a job offer from another company. I can’t truly enjoy my new job with this looming guilt of leaving the team and knowing what is about to happen. I know at least two of them who cannot afford to lose their jobs due to their financial obligations. These are good people that I’ve placed in the company.
I genuinely care about these people, and the rest of the team really put a lot of their time and effort for the company to succeed ( it went through bankruptcy already but was able to restructure and emerge). I can’t disclose anything though, as the sale needs to go through. For the managers that went through the same, how are you getting over the guilt of saving yourself and not the team that worked hard for you?

2023.06.04 10:27 Thick_Mick_Chick Song of Soliloquy

2023.06.04 10:27 Magazine_Optimal My Bluetooth headset picked up a radio chatter of people spying on me?

I am a worker for a security company and I am currently on a company trip to another country that I will not be naming for security reasons. I use JBL live 500s wireless headphones and I was up late at night trying to watch YouTube. I turned on my headphones and I heard the pairing noise, meaning they connected to my laptop. However, I heard an extremely quiet, almost automated noise like a deep beeping that would beep in a pattern and then repeat over and over again. When I started hearing this, I assumed I had a video on in the background or it was some weird interference with Bluetooth. I checked my tabs and there was no playing audio. It continued playing and I mostly got over it and watched some videos that drowned out the beeping. I ended up going to sleep without incident. However, in the morning I turned the headphones on again only to hear the same beeping. I thought not much of it. I ate breakfast and started leaving my Airbnb with my headphones on. I drive with music. The second I exited my Airbnb, this beeping got way louder and faster. At this point, I’m just annoyed at the obnoxious noise but as I walk and get into my car, I hear in the quietest voice “He’s moving” or something along those lines. It could have also been “He’s leaving”. At this point, I thought I had just imagined this out of my sleep deprivation. I also checked my phone and my headphones were on but they were not paired to my phone. I start to get paranoid now and I keep my headphones on and try to listen carefully. I start and drive my car as normal. Weirdly, when I would accelerate, the tone of the beeping would change. I went to work as normal and I just came home and am writing this. The beeping continued on the car ride back and here at the Airbnb but it did stop at work.

Thanks this is my first time posting anyting like this also soory for my/russhed post

2023.06.04 10:27 Southern-Care1877 my own stupidity costs me my free will

now other will try to screw me over if not other women will
because i am a dumbass... they already ruined my face and removed teeth that didn't need removing.
I have already destroyed my life anyway...
they used me part of their sewer system and they won...
I won't have a choice but to turn gay otherwise die and or turn gay and then dump me back to where i was born..
The goal is to turn me gay i won't have a choice otherwise eat me for dinner or shoot me down..
modern day life makes me jealous. If not the people back home will use this place as target practice.
Otherwise get raped by toxic men...because other men will want me to suck their dick or fuck diseased women...
It always want me to be gay to control the population...
Either way they know what sites I visit and what searches I do so therefore they'll fuck with me...they were going to do that anyway and that you only have temporary privileges and the goal was to divide conquer and corrupt.
They will fuck with me indirectly because this matrix is smarter than me.
Either way if it sounds too good to be true it always will be - they turned me into a wuss because they can and I fell for it...because they know everything about me which mean that they'll fuck with me.
Freedom and free will only be available to browns and blacks If not accuse me of something I didn't do and they will torture me or my mother the goal was designed to make sex look disgusting and they won...and they are torturing god. The male disease the root cause of all problems...
I have no way of defending myself and the goal is to turn me into a homosexual I won't have a choice otherwise eat the shit from god's ass.
They have already made me mortal either way this world is that work was invented to make us feel jealous and they will flood gay porn down my throat or otherwise accuse me something I didn't do so I join their social cult.
The goal will be turn me gay I won't have a choice buhahaha so that the real owners can make me feel jealous buhahahhahaha
ahahahhahahahahahahahaha hahahahahaha nice try fucker hahahahahahha
ahahahhahaahhahahahahaha and they are giggling at my suffering otherwise they'll make sure to continue to shove shit down my throat...
Either way they tortured me to death which proves that power corrupts and they will because they are more powerful than me and I have no way of defending myself and the goal of turning me into an illusion was population control and torturing me so that they make me feel jealous buhahahhahahaha
hahahahha and I have to pay the price for other's mistake. The goal is that I forget everything because other men said so buhahahahahhahaha
hahahahahahhaaha hahahahahahaha hahahahahahahha the goal is also continue to use me part of their dangling carrot and collecting this so that they can giggle at my suffering so that I join their social cult of big brother - I won't have a choice... Otherwise they'll use this as a target practice.
Society and the people reading this know that I am powerless and otherwise be the hero so that they can keep me distracted so that they can continue fucking and making us feel jealous
A slave to science and/or religion. Only asians and whites will enjoy real freedom. They keep torturing me from behind and they have been since birth and the goal is nothing more than I am their property and when I do break free I become a product to be studied...
If it sounds too good to be true it always is and always will be and that money was invented to simply hide the truth and that when people of authority are more powerful than you there is no way around it.
Either way I have become sloppy the goal of work was dehumanize me and that work doesn't really doesn't mean anything and the goal of existence is so that I cease to exist and will die or be left all alone so that they can continue living in the fantasy land. Otherwise have those privileges taken away and they will because women and girls are stronger than me and when other men make them stronger the goal is that they want me to turn gay so that this bullshit continues otherwise they use that money for their own criminal activity.
Otherwise show that women are diseased themselves too and that the goal of torturing me was to prove a point that we like corruption buhahahhahahaha hahahahahaha
hehehehehe hahahahahahha hehehehehehhehehe
My life is fucked anyway and this bullshit fake life been created to hide the truth.

2023.06.04 10:27 ElectricPurpleJuice Seeing people I knew my age hurts

TW: SA, Eating Disorders, substance use?
I (f19) have struggled with mental health issues for a long time. Mainly Anorexia, different anxiety disorders and depression. My childhood was sexualized and I was later a victim of sexual exploitation and abuse when I was 8. I missed a lot of school but the next year in the fifth grade, it was easy to catch up with a little bit of hard work.
Backstory Grade 6 (age 12) is when the disordered thoughts around food became noticeable to me. Maybe grace five actually (10-11) because I had a fixation on needing my lunches to be healthy. Grade 7, it slowly gets worse in my thinking but not actions. It’s not bad yet and my psychiatrist dismisses me when I bring up my concerns around it.
Summer going into grade 8, I lose double digits in weight with restriction and exercise. I lost most of my friends this summer (albeit not good ones looking back but part of that was on me originally). I keep restricting periodically. I drop out of swim team because I feel like I’m not good enough anymore and my dad refuses to pay for it if I’m not able to get myself into the pool each practice. A part of me is lost.
My once A average in school drops significantly to just passing. I get the flu for three weeks and miss crucial concepts at school that I still don’t understand even when I’m putting in the effort to learn them.
Grade 9 (14-15)rolls around. High school. One friend I share no classes with. A phobia of going to school and major social anxiety disorder that probably started the year before. Chronic pain flares up and my doctor cannot give me proper pain management so I miss school (this continues until pregnancy). I get raped multiple times over two months. Afraid to be in my own home. Sleep during the day and stay up at night to protect myself. I worry about pregnancy but ultimately don’t get pregnant. Start counting calories and doing an exercises before bed obsessively. I don’t pass any courses.
Grade 10, same problems as the previous year but COVID 19 starts and I’m able to pass my first class. I move in with my dad. I get a summer job but I still restrict and exercise often. I thought about dying every summer since the eighth grade.
Grade 11 (16-17) I stopped experiencing nightmares associated with the rapes and do not fear sleeping anymore. When things get really hard, I take a little under the lethal dose of my prescription ssri just to feel numb (a little better than before). I stop taking my prescription. I get a few more high school credits online. I restrict a crazy amount where I’m almost hospitalized. I’m hospitalized a few weeks later. I start treatment for anorexia but the hospital is lacking resources. I get a different summer job. I meet my boyfriend at the end of the summer. Things seem to be turning up. My eating disorder therapist retires and has no replacement. I do okay anyways.
Grade 12, boyfriend starts sneaking me over to his bedroom at night regularly. I love being able to sleep with him and feel that intimacy. I get pregnant four months into our relationship. School takes a backseat as I try to work out more immediate concerns.
What it feels like
When I see people my age finishing up year one of university it hurts. I wanted that more than anything. I still haven’t graduated high school. I’m trying to work on that while raising a baby also while pregnant. I have so many things I want to learn and skill sets I want to acquire and there they are just doing it. I feel like I went through a lot more than most teenagers but I was supposed to graduate early to get into university sooner. I wanted to study abroad but I’ve had to give up that idea (which is the thing I’m the most okay with because I love my baby so much). I just feel like I missed out. I wanted to be a normal teenager so badly. I wanted to be further ahead already. It feels like it hurts for no reason sometimes. I wonder if I’m ever going to be able to fulfill my ambitions.

2023.06.04 10:27 geradelmundo Long time friend [F 39] has been drifting apart, being ghosty and avoidant. No explanation. No room for repair. I’m [F 36]. What to do…

I’ve had a friendship with this person for about 14 years now. We’ve been roommates on two separate occasions, have traveled many places together and have never really had significant fights or disagreements. We both moved to new homes in the same town, all felt good in the friendship. We had planned for her to come over to my new home, but she kind of disappeared for a few weeks. I texted her that I felt left in the dark, but that I love her and just wanted to express the feeling so we could move pass it. She took a week to reply with “omg sorry babe! I’ve been busy” etc. In her socials she’s going out with other friends frequently, at the gym and doing all sorts of fun plans. So it’s pretty much been a series of me doing the outreach and her taking even longer now to reply. She even took like 2 months to get back once. At the moment and after another more lengthy and superficial feeling apology from her recently, I replied to her text and haven’t heard back once more for about a week now…AGAIN. Feeling so ghosted but her birthday is coming up in a few days. Wondering if wishing her a happy bday and not making a big deal about it in my head, or if I should just fully let this ship sink and not reach out anymore even though it’s her big day. Sigh. Am I delusional or something?

2023.06.04 10:26 Geek_Mystique03 Lack of academic productivity when at home/in the dorm

I suppose this is a question that can be asked to any college student (or any sort of student in general), but regardless I'll ask it here as I'd like to know if anyone deals with the same sort of issue out of curiosity.
Personally, I find that for me, it's extremely difficult to get any work at all done in my dorm as opposed to places on campus like Geisel and Biomed. I find in those places I'm focused and I can get hours of quality work done, but as soon as I try doing the same in my dorm, I find that I can't do the same. I get both lazy and distracted when trying to get academic stuff done at home. Even when I do somehow manage to bring myself to do work in the dorm, I notice the quality is notably less.
As a result, I do all of my work in the library which I don't mind, but in some cases it's a bit of an inconvenience. I think the setting of the library really lends itself to productivity as you are surrounded with a lot of people who are also in the grind, and it kind of primes you to do the same, and I've become pretty reliant on this atmosphere admittedly. Even in high school I'd do all of my work at a Starbucks or the school library instead of at home when I had the chance.
I think this sort of reasoning is why when I start my career, I'd greatly prefer to work in the office more and avoid remote work at home as much as I can because I know I wouldn't be at my best. I guess I'm just very particular in separating where I work and where I relax.
Does anyone else have the same issue? For me I'll admit its pretty extreme, but I hope at least there's some people out there that really gets it. It really feels like an issue sometimes and I feel like it sets me back from my peers who can be productive basically anywhere.

Today, I’m going to show you a step-by-step system to go from complete copywriting beginner to making up to $6,000 a month… in just 8 weeks

You see, as a freelance copywriter, all it takes is one email to change your life.
Because all you need is one high-quality client to say, “Yes, I’ll hire you”…
And… BOOM.
Thousands of dollars would be plopped into your bank account, instantly.
Enough to quit your job. Enough to transform your life.
You may think this is completely outside your reality right now…
But I promise you, it’s not.
With the template I’m about to show you, it’s absolutely possible for a beginner copywriter to achieve this in just 2 short months, and I’ll prove it to you.
> Even if you have never landed a single client in your entire life and have ZERO connections…
> Even if you’ve tried copywriting courses in the past and haven’t gotten anywhere…
> And even if you’ve sent tons of emails and messages to clients without a response.
Oh, and our system will let you get clients regardless of the economic conditions.
(With more people than ever bored & buying stuff from home — the demand for good copy has never been higher.)

This proven system lets beginner copywriters close high-paying clients.

Using easy, step-by-step emails with copy-and-paste templates…

This system has worked for 31 out of 36 copywriting students I’ve taught it to…
And today, it can absolutely work for YOU.
You see, since January 2017, my friend Austin and I have coached an exclusive group of 36 copywriters as part of Derek Johanson’s CopyHour Certified Coaching Program…
It was a tightly knit and closed group… with each student paying up to $5,500 to learn these secrets from us.
The majority of these students started right where you are today…
In other words, at the VERY beginning, with little to zero experience.
Yet in just a short amount of time, their lives were TRANSFORMED.

Thanks to this simple step-by-step blueprint, students have gone from boring “prison cell” desk jobs to living the dream remote working copywriter lifestyle

Simply put, CopyHour Certified Coaching has been one of the most successful freelance copywriting programs, EVER.
All we do is teach our students this simple step-by-step process…
And they regularly go from total newbies to making $2,000… $5,000… or even more per month in just 8 weeks.
