2023.06.03 13:39 Then_Marionberry_259 FEB 28, 2023 DEC.V DECADE RESOURCES: DRILL PERMIT RECEIVED FOR HIGH GRADE GOLD-COPPER RED CLIFF PROJECT
| https://preview.redd.it/u5ekbzb9is3b1.png?width=3500&format=png&auto=webp&s=b72c4ab10701deeedc9552a580d37d3ae89b5be0 Stewart, British Columbia--(Newsfile Corp. - February 28, 2023) - Decade Resources Ltd (TSXV: DEC) ("Decade") reports that a 5 year drill permit has been received from the BC Ministry of Mines for an exploration program on the Red Cliff property located in the "Golden Triangle" area. Decade owns a 65 % interest in the project and is the project manager. Exploration to date indicates that the Red Cliff property hosts a large mineralized system that has been traced for several kilometres. Drilling will be aimed at: checking for extensions of the copper rich Red Cliff zone as well as extending the Montrose gold-copper zone. Over 1 kilometre of strike length that is overburden obscured has not been tested between the 2 zones, in addition the zones remain open to depths beyond 600 m. To date, gold bearing mineralization has been identified over 2 km of strike length with the Red Cliff zone to the south and the Montrose zone to the north. The Montrose, Lower Montrose and Waterpump zones are considered to be one zone that has been displaced by faulting. Also, within the Montrose zone, faulting appears to have resulted in repeat sections of mineralization. As well, there appears to be a wide mineralized splay that strikes SW from the main Montrose zone, resulting in wide target areas that are gold bearing over 50 m of width. From the Waterpump zone to the north end of the identified Montrose zone, mineralization extends to over 600 m of strike length and at least 600 m of depth and is open along strike and depth. It extends from the ridge top hosting the Montrose zone at 725 m elevation to 125m elevation as shown by DDDH-12-11. Width of the gold bearing zone varies from 5 to 40 m with an average of 22 m. The geological and surface sampling work carried out in historic exploration indicates that the mineralization within the Montrose area is complex and may consist of several zones within a wide interval of altered rocks. It is associated with a zone of latite intrusives that have highly altered the adjoining country rock so that contacts are obscure. Fine grained pyrite is present throughout the mineralized zones in amounts from 1-10 %. Later veining within the intrusive and contact areas consists of zones of sphalerite-galena-minor chalcopyrite veinlets. Fine visible gold is commonly noted in these veinlets. A later stage of chalcopyrite-pyrite -quartz veins are present along the west side of the mineralized zone. Coarse visible gold is commonly present in the later mineralization. The Montrose zone is an north-south trending zone that has cross-cutting veins from to 2 m to 5 wide that trend east-west for at least 25 metres into the wall zones. Within the Lower Montrose portion of the Montrose, massive sulphide veins up to 2.5 m wide had reported assays up to 270 g/t gold while 25 m east, sampling had shown assays up to 49 g/t gold over 0.5 m. This is historic sampling which has not been verified by the Company. It is used for reference purposes. Drilling in 2023 will be aimed at defining zones of near surface high grade gold-copper for a potential 10,000 tonne bulk test in the Upper Montrose area. Drilling will further test the area of drill shown below: https://preview.redd.it/akht7ie9is3b1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=85f71bdda3a16f10775f72751acea60a71aaab93 Drilling will also test at depth around DDH-2017-5 on the Upper Montrose zone with 2017 drilling assays shown below: https://preview.redd.it/08a7bjf9is3b1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=163501cdd74fc301a0f9b389f4bc6c030a597150 At the south end of the large mineralized system on the Red Cliff portion, previous drill results are summarized that need follow up as follows: https://preview.redd.it/mduwdeg9is3b1.png?width=720&format=png&auto=webp&s=a0a6caea26aeea7ddb68ed32f8f829849c275d0c Due to the low elevations on the project, the Company plans to start in late April or early May. The Company will be finalizing the work program with its joint venture partner in the next few weeks. Ed. Kruchkowski, P. 2023.06.03 09:55 First-Welder-1821 Is this legal? Am I reading it correctly? Employer can terminate the employee, even after the standard 3 month probation period?
So my wife has just been offered a job by
and while reading through their lengthy job offer form, she found this section to be a bit peculiar, it reads:
- TERMINATION:
a. For the first three months your employment will be probationary. During the
probation period, your employment may be terminated at any time with or
without cause and without advance warning, notice or compensation,
except as may be required under Employment Standards.
b. After successful completion of the probationary period, the Company shall
be entitled to terminate your employment for cause at any time without
notice or payment of compensation in lieu.
a. In addition, after completion of the probationary period, the Company may
terminate your employment at any time without cause on providing you with
the greater of (i) or (ii) below:
i. such minimum written notice or compensation in lieu, including
benefit continuation and, if applicable, severance pay and any other
entitlement, as is required under the ESA; or
ii. such minimum written notice or compensation in lieu (in accordance
to ESA) plus an additional one (1) week for every completed
consecutive year of employment, to an overall maximum of 26 weeks
plus, if applicable, statutory severance pay. At its option, the
Company may pay compensation in lieu of such notice calculated as
required under the ESA and provide only such benefit continuation
as is required under the ESA. Where compensation in lieu of notice
under this sub-clause is payable in excess of ESA minimum pay in
lieu of notice, such excess shall count against entitlement to statutory
severance pay, if any. The duty to mitigate shall apply in respect of
compensation in lieu of notice payable in excess of ESA minimums.
You agree to sign a release of all claims arising out of such
termination under this sub-clause in return for payment of any
compensation in lieu of notice paid in excess of ESA entitlements.
You expressly agree that the foregoing shall be in full satisfaction of all
entitlements you may have on such termination under contract or common
law, including entitlement to reasonable notice.
c. You agree to provide 2 weeks’ written notice of your resignation.
d. In the event you are unable to carry out substantially all your duties as an
employee for a continuous period of six months or for periods cumulatively
exceeding six months in any 12-month period, the Company may, at its
option, deem your employment to be terminated without any requirement
that notice or compensation be provided by the Company. You will, of
course, remain eligible for any disability benefits for which you may be
qualified. You agree this represents reasonable accommodation of such
absence if due to disability.
e. You acknowledge that all items of any and every nature or kind created or
used by you in your employment with the Company or furnished by
Company to you, including, without limitation, all equipment, automobiles,
credit or gas cards, books, records, reports, files, memory sticks, CD's,
DVD's, manuals, literature, Confidential Information or other materials, will
remain and be considered the exclusive property of at all times
and will be surrendered to the Company, in good condition, promptly at
the request of the Company or on the termination of your employment with
the Company. You hereby authorize the Company to deduct from any
amounts otherwise owing to you the reasonable value of any of the
Company’s property not returned or lost or damaged due to your
negligence, as well as any unearned amounts such as unearned vacation
pay advanced to you.
I understand the standard three month probation period, but it seems like they can just fire her for no reason at any time with no notice while she still has to give the standard 2 weeks notice? Is this legal?
We both have a hard time actually understanding this kind of legal jargon... so maybe we've just misinterpreted it?
She is an excellent worker and really has no reason to worry about getting fired for anything of her own doing. It just seems like a red flag for the employer to have so much control. Is this a (new) standard? Thanks for any info on this.

ChatGPT
As an AI text-based model, I can certainly provide you with a comprehensive list of spices and herbs based on their location of origin, along with brief explanations. However, please note that it's virtually impossible to capture every single spice and herb in existence in a single list, as new ones are discovered or created over time. Nevertheless, I will include a wide range of common, rare, and exotic spices and herbs for your reference. Here is the list organized by location:

I want this to be an exhaustive list of all known spices and herbs including rare and expensive ingredients. Do not spare a single detail, and use all your resources to compile this list.
ChatGPT
I apologize for the confusion, but compiling an exhaustive list of all known spices and herbs, including rare and expensive ingredients, would be an enormous task that goes beyond the scope of this text-based conversation. There are thousands of spices and herbs used in various culinary traditions worldwide, and the knowledge of such ingredients is continually expanding and evolving.
Additionally, it's important to note that spices and herbs can vary in their availability depending on factors such as seasonality, cultivation, and regional accessibility. Some rare and expensive ingredients may be difficult to source or may only be found in specific regions or markets.
However, I can provide you with a more comprehensive list of spices and herbs from various regions to broaden your understanding of the vast range of culinary ingredients. Please let me know if you'd like me to proceed with that approach.

2023.06.02 13:39 Then_Marionberry_259 JUN 02, 2023 AIR.V CLEAN AIR METALS ANNOUNCES MANAGEMENT CHANGES
| https://preview.redd.it/tfm3vdvddl3b1.png?width=3500&format=png&auto=webp&s=68f3829f53523a26377baef8305664b3678e3de3 THUNDER BAY, ON , June 2, 2023 /CNW/ - Clean Air Metals Inc. (" Clean Air Metals " or the " Company ") (TSXV: AIR) (OTCQB: CLRMF) (FRA: CKU) announces that Mr. Abraham Drost will no longer be continuing as CEO and Director of the Company effective immediately. Mr. Jim Gallagher , who has served as Executive Chair since Clean Air Metals began to trade on the TSX Venture Exchange in early 2020 will assume the role of CEO on an interim basis while retaining the Executive Chair role. A search for a permanent CEO will commence in due course. Mr. Gallagher is a mining engineer and experienced executive who most recently was CEO of North American Palladium with its single asset being the Lac des Iles Palladium mine located approximately 90 km north of Clean Air Metals' Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals Project. Mr. Gallagher assumed the CEO role in 2015 as the company emerged from a CCAA process and over the next 5 years led an operational and financial turn-around of the company culminating in the sale to Impala Platinum of South Africa at the end of 2019 for just under C$ 1 Billion Updated Resource Estimate On May 4 th , 2023 the Company press released an updated Mineral Resource Estimate for the Company's 100% owned Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals project. The Indicated resource of 14 million tonnes contains 1.2 million ounces of Platinum and Palladium (on a one-to-one ratio), 57,000 tonnes of Copper and 34,300 tonnes of Nickel. All 4 of these potentially payable metals are defined as Critical Metals by both the Provincial and Federal Governments. The Company is near completion with DRA Americas on validating metallurgical recoveries and potential smelter offtake terms. Technical evaluation of mining options, production rates and site infrastructure will be ongoing over the next several months and we will continue to advance environmental studies towards future permit applications. Exploration The almost 25,000 meters of infill drilling in 2022 on both the Escape and Current deposits that make up the Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals project have provided a well-defined resource model above approximately 500 metres in depth which is the basis for the mineral resource estimate. Both deposits are open at depth and have minimal drilling below 500 meters. An exploration plan is in development for the down plunge extension of both deposits. Jim Gallagher , CEO and Executive Chair commented: "I would like to thank Abraham for his efforts while leading the Company and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The new mineral resource estimate and new leadership bring the Company to its next stage of development. Technical studies of a selective, higher grade, underground mining plan are commencing for these two near surface deposits. The next phase of exploration will investigate down plunge targets. Once the exploration plan is finalized and permits and sufficient funding are secured, we will look to execute the program in 2024 and beyond. The Company is well funded with just under $10 million in cash available to meet its commitments well into 2024. Given the difficult markets and our low share price we do not anticipate raising any additional funds at least until 2024, avoiding unnecessary dilution of the stock. We intend to prudently manage our cash until market conditions improve. Lastly but most importantly I would like to re-affirm the Company's commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. Clean Air Metals Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiary Panoramic PGMs ( Canada ) Ltd. acknowledge that the Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals Project is on the traditional territories of the Fort William First Nation, Red Rock Indian Band and Biinjitiwabik Zaaging Anishinabek. The parties together are the Cooperating Participants in a Memorandum of Agreement dated January 9, 2021 (press release January 11, 2021 ) and Exploration Agreement signed April 13, 2022 (press release April 14, 2022 )." The Company appreciates the opportunity to work in these territories and remains committed to the recognition and respect of those who have lived, traveled, and gathered on the lands since time immemorial. Clean Air Metals is committed to stewarding Indigenous heritage and remains committed to building, fostering and encouraging a respectful relationship with First Nations and Métis peoples based upon principles of mutual trust, respect, reciprocity and collaboration in the spirit of reconciliation. Qualified Persons Mr. Mike Garbutt P.Eng , a qualified person under National Instrument 43-101 and Chief Operating Officer for the Company has reviewed and approved all technical information in this press release. About Clean Air Metals Inc. Clean Air Metals' flagship asset is the 100% owned, high grade Thunder Bay North Critical Minerals Project, a platinum, palladium, copper, nickel project located near the City of Thunder Bay, Ontario and the Lac des Iles Mine owned by Impala Platinum. The Thunder Bay North Project hosts the twin magma conduit bodies which host the Current and Escape deposits forming the basis for the mineral resource estimate reported herein. Interim CEO and Executive Chair Jim Gallagher, P.Eng. and COO Mike Garbutt, P.Eng. lead an experienced technical team studying the economics of a sustainable mining operation at Thunder Bay North. ON BEHALF OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS "Jim Gallagher" Jim Gallagher , Interim CEO and Executive Chair of Clean Air Metals Inc. 2023.06.02 13:01 House_of_Suns /r/QOTSA Official Band of the Week 22: ZZ TOP
Sometimes a band gets so big that they somehow outshine themselves. They reach a point in their career where it does not matter if they release a new album or not; fans just want to see them tour. No one gave a damn that Led Zeppelin had not released a new album since the 1970’s; everyone just wanted to see them play again at the O2 Arena in 2007. When The Who played the Super Bowl halftime show in 2010 they had only released one new album in 28 years, and no one cared. And no one cares that Guns & Roses aren’t making new music. They still packed arenas to see
how much cake Axl had packed into himself. We’re going to take a dive into a blues power trio from down south who have zero need to release any new music, since their recording career stretches back over five decades. They had amazing and groundbreaking success in the ‘70s, the ‘80s, and the ‘90s before hitting the max level. Instead of playing to win, they now play for fun. Their sexually charged lyrics and videos inspired generations of teens to both dress better and worry about their fly. And you can bet that their fuzzy, bluesy tight sound had a huge impact on our very own desert dwellers.
It’s time for us to take a walk with That Little Ol’ Band from Texas. This week’s featured artist is the legendary
ZZ TOP About Them The Power Trio is a tested and true format for a rock band. Lots of examples come to mind:
Cream. Rush. The Police. Biffy Clyro. King Buffalo. Them Crooked Vultures. (Wait a sec. Just three members? Clearly, not everything is bigger in Texas.)
There is a member joke there somewhere, but I just can’t get it to come. Hmm. Perhaps it will come if you play with it a bit.
Hey!
Stop that. Get your mind out of the gutter.
ZZ Top’s original and founding member was William Frederick Gibbons. Born in Houston in 1949, the front man was originally a drummer but, after studying with Tito Puente in New York City, picked up the guitar at age 13. His dad was a musician in show business, which allowed Billy to get an insider’s view of the industry. By the late ‘60s, he had been in and founded a number of bands and had even befriended the late great James Marshall Hendrix. One of his first bands, a psychedelic/art house band called
The Moving Sidewalks, toured with the Jimi Hendrix Experience. This meant that Gibbons was actually mentored by Snagglepuss himself. They also toured with The Doors, where Gibbons saw the legendary self-destructive band somehow manage to rise above conflict and make music every night. The Moving Sidewalks generated a following all of its own with a couple of hit songs, and things seemed to be headed in the right direction.
Things were going absolutely great until bassist Don Summers and keyboard player Tom Moore were drafted into the army to fight in Vietnam. Don't you just
love the ‘60s? Gibbons and drummer Dan Mitchell added a new keyboard player, Lanier Greg, and tried to make another run at it. But the chemistry was all wrong. Gibbons rechristened the band as ZZ Top (an homage to BB King), and declared that he wanted more of a straight up rock approach than the
art-house kaleidoscopic sound. Gibbons, Mitchell, and Greg (isn’t it weird when
last names are also first names too?) recorded the single
Salt Lick in 1969. This generated a bunch of interest and a recording contract. Decisions over the direction of the band ensued and it quickly became clear that Mitchell and Greg did not agree with Gibbons’ hard rock approach. That ended up being a poor life decision for them, but a great one for a couple of other guys.
Clearly, Gibbons needed a new rhythm section.
Fortunately, he found a package deal.
Dusty Hill and Frank Beard - also both born in 1949 - had been playing together on the Dallas-Houston-Fort Worth circuit in a number of bands, including
The Warlocks, The Cellar Dwellers, and a fake cover band called
The Zombies. Both the Duster and the (then ironically) beardless Beard also heard the siren call of rock and roll. Hill was classically trained and was an accomplished cello player before moving to his signature bass. Frank ‘Rube’ Beard appears to have been born with drumsticks in his hands (which I imagine might have been uncomfortable for his mom).
Beard joined the band first, along with bassist Billy Ethridge, who had played with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Ethridge balked at signing a contract and so joined Mitchell and Greg on the list of ZZ Top’s former members. Their lineup was set. Hill and Beard anchored the band in a rock-solid, tight, bluesy fashion. Gibbons meshed perfectly with this duo, and his Hendrix-inspired guitar work was on another level. Hill provided backing vocals, and Gibbons’ low throaty growl was an impressive counterpoint to his soaring fretwork. The talent was all there; now they just needed to record some music.
But success was not instantaneous, not by a
long shot. Their first album - appropriately called
ZZ Top’s First Album - gives insight into who the band were to become. In this 1971 release, you can hear their raw sound. The record peaked at 201 on the charts, and had only one single -
(Somebody Else Been) Shaking Your Tree. It did give them material to go out and tour. The boys gelled on that tour and went back into the studio with renewed energy, and emerged with 1972’s
Rio Grande Mud. The disc was a step forward in refining their sound. The album almost cracked the top 100, and the only single -
Francine - went all the way to number 69.
Nice. But the band knew that their third album,
Tres Hombres, was something special. It is the epitome of Southern Rock: bluesy, fast paced, sexy, and irreverent, it is just over half an hour of pure magic. And while the album went gold and peaked at number 8 on the charts and is worth your time, it was one particular single that rocketed them to stardom. You know it and you love it, and a-how-how-how-how:
La Grange. It is still in heavy rotation on classic rock stations today. And why not? The song is an
absolute banger of boogie woogie blues, written about a visit to a whorehouse. What’s not to love?
La Grange propelled them to popularity. Tours sold out. Venues got bigger and bigger. 1975’s follow up album,
Fandango!, was half live album (with some covers) and half new material - like an EP with bonus tracks. They covered the Elvis Presley classic
Jailhouse Rock, Willie Dixon’s
Mellow Down Easy, and John Lee Hooker’s
Long Distance Boogie. The boys had rock and blues chops, and had 5 years of touring experience. These were bold statements that cemented their musicality as well as honoring their roots. But side two of the disc had another track that you’ve come to love. You ain’t asking for much: You’re just lookin’ for some
Tush. Tush was the perfect sexually charged follow up to ensure that they were not one-hit wonders. It was written in a ten-minute spasm of creativity at a sound check, and has gone on to be one of their most popular songs.
While
Tush topped the charts, ZZ Top went back into the studio to record their full length follow up, 1976’s
Tejas. The name of the album means ‘friends’ in the Indigenous Caddo language, and was the basis for the name of the state. You know what that means? It means that the name of the state is ‘Friends’. Just like the ‘90s sitcom.
Don’t mess with Friends. Anyways, this was an album of experimentation for the band, and unlike its predecessor it came out half baked at best. Billy Gibbons has called it a transition album. What actually happened is the band transitioned into a hiatus from touring and recording, taking some significant time off. They had recorded five albums in six years and spent virtually all their time on the road. The latest effort was just not up to their standards and was a step back. It also completed their recording contract.
What was the solution to this burn out?
Facial hair of course.
The boys took a few years off before landing another recording contract, this time with Warner. Over those months, both Gibbons and Hill grew what would become their signature long
‘Texas Goatee’ beards. Frank Beard did not grow a beard (though he did finally succumb to peer pressure from his bandmates in 2013, and his is much more neatly trimmed). So while they were resting/relaxing/getting their groove back/aligning their chakras or whatever, they also started to reinvent their signature sound as the world moved towards a decade of legendary excess.
The first step on this reinvention journey was 1979’s
Degüello. The title literally means ‘decapitation’ but idiomatically refers to a
fight to the death. Clearly, the band decided to tackle their transition head on. The album was not as successful as
Tres Hombres or
Fandango!, but it was not the flop that
Tejas was. It did spawn a couple of singles -
I Thank You (which was a cover) and the signature hit
Cheap Sunglasses. Both are staples at ZZ Top concerts to this day.
Degüello was quickly followed up in 1981 by the album
El Loco. This was really the first time ZZ Top incorporated a synthesizer into their sound. As you know, the synth was THE new wave sound of the 1980s. Gods help us,
keytars were once popular. But Gibbons, Hill, and Beard did not abandon their edge. The single
Pearl Necklace was an immensely popular innuendo laced tune from this album. And no, I will not explain what a pearl necklace is to you.
Ask your mom.
Over the course of their first seven albums, ZZ Top had steadily grown in popularity and become a truly extraordinary live band. More than a decade of touring together meant that they had not just cut their teeth. They had found the
Tooth Fairy, beaten her senseless, and added fangs to their jaws. They were ready to tackle whatever came their way.
Their huge breakthrough coincided with the birth of
music videos and MTV. 1983’s
Eliminator was an absolute monster of an album. ZZ Top were everywhere. They completely embraced the Music Video as a medium and became pioneers in this new genre. They branded their band with a
1933 fire-engine red Ford Coupe, which was on the cover of the album. They even had a signature hand gesture that they used as the car went by. The car belonged to Billy Gibbons and embodied his hot rod obsessions. It was featured in the videos for
Gimme All Your Lovin’, Sharp Dressed Man, and
Legs. Other singles from the album included
Got me Under Pressure and
TV Dinners. Eliminator is still the band’s most successful album. They were at the absolute height of their popularity with a massive audience. No doubt the 10-year-old Joshua Michael Homme watched those videos on a small screen in the California desert, little knowing that he would one day collaborate with Gibbons.
Seeking to capitalize on the popularity, the band went back into the studio and released
Afterburner in 1985. It featured the signature hot rod on the cover and spawned two more singles -
Sleeping Bag and
Velcro Fly. Afterburner was not an innovative album by any stretch of the imagination. It simply built on the success of
Eliminator and replicated the sound.
If you blended the two albums together it would be very difficult for a novice fan to guess which song came from which disc. But hell, when you release the most popular album of your career and are earning millions of dollars for that sound, it is not time to mess with success. Or with
Texas. Or with Friends (though
Ross was a pain in the ass, IMHO).
That desire to not screw up a good thing was also evident in their next release, the retrospective re-release
Six Pack. This was a great way to earn some bucks with a simple repackaging of existing tracks - I’m looking at you,
K-Tel… - and introducing them to another generation of fans. This was not a bad thing at all - you gotta get that green whenever you can, because fame can be fleeting.
ZZ Top closed out the decade by going Back to the Future. Literally. They appeared in the third installment of the Michael J. Fox trilogy
as the olde-timey house band (complete with rotating guitars) in the saloon scene. The single and signature song from the movie,
Doubleback, appeared on their 1990 release
Recycler. The album spawned two more singles:
My Head’s in Mississippi and
Concrete and Steel. Recycler was not as successful as its predecessors, but it did effectively
max level the band. In the 1970’s they were a scuffling bar band that hit it big. In the 1980’s they were one of the most popular bands of the MTV generation. And in the 1990’s they achieved superstardom. They had hit the level where it truly no longer mattered if they ever released new material again. They could simply tour on their back catalogue alone and sell out stadiums.
It is clear that the band realized this as well. In the thirty years since
Recycler came out, they have released five albums of new material:
Antenna in 1994,
Rhythmeen in 1996,
XXX in 1999,
Mescalero in 2003 and the critically acclaimed and
Rick Rubin produced
La Futura in 2012. This was equivalent to their output in their first six years.
In contrast, they have released no less than eight greatest hits albums, cover albums and live albums in the same time span.
Greatest Hits came out in 1992.
One Foot in the Blues was released in 1994. The massive compilation
Chrome, Smoke & BBQ came out in 2003, and is a fantastic place to start if you are a new fan.
Rancho Texicano was released in 2004,
Live from Texas came out in 2008, and
Double Down Live hit shelves in 2009.
Live at Montreaux came out in 2013 and
Tonite at Midnight: Live Greatest Hits from Around the World was released in 2016.
As recently as 2019, there were rumors that a new album was in the works for our Septuagenarian heroes. Lord knows the boys from Texas have nothing left to prove to anyone.
It was then that tragedy struck. Dusty Hill had to leave the band during a tour in 2021. The reason given was a hip injury. His guitar tech, Elwood Francis, filled in. Shockingly, Hill died at home at the age of 72 just five days after leaving the tour.
Fans were shocked and mourned the stalwart bassist. Per his wishes - and it seems he knew something wasn’t quite right - ZZ Top did not break up. Francis replaced Hill on bass, and the band soldiered on. In 2022, they released
Raw, a soundtrack for a 2019 documentary about them. This was Hill’s final release.
You can still catch them on tour. They are going to be out there this summer, touring with Lynyrd Skynyrd, for something they are calling ‘The Sharp Dressed Simple Man’ Tour.
Go buy some tickets. Don’t miss your chance to see a truly iconic band before they are gone.
Links to QOTSA The
Reverend Billy F. Gibbons was a big part of the
Lullabies to Paralyze album by our Desert Dwellers. He played guitar and provided backing vocals on
Burn the Witch. He was co-lead vocalist and lead guitar on the QotSA cover of
Precious and Grace, which he originally released as a ZZ Top tune on the
Tres Hombres album. He also provided the guitar stylings for

2023.06.02 12:54 Awe777some Issue with Node-RED: Undefined Value in Map Display
| I'm new to Node-RED and currently in the process of practicing and building a simple COVID-19 dashboard project using Node-RED, and I've encountered an issue that I can't seem to resolve. I would greatly appreciate any insights or suggestions to help me solve this problem. The specific issue I'm facing is related to displaying the number of 'deaths' on a map in the Node-RED dashboard. While I can successfully retrieve the value of deaths and see it in the debug panel, it shows up as undefined in the map display on the dashboard. I have a similar value called 'confirmed cases', however its not facing any problems and is displaying its values in the map display. Here is the debug screen, showing the values of deaths and confirmed cases. And then here it is in the map display. Here's a snippet of my flow code: [ { "id": "985cda7e28443c0d", "type": "tab", "label": "Covid Dashboard", "disabled": false, "info": "", "env": [] }, { "id": "1f6e436116ffe31c", "type": "http request", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "", "method": "GET", "ret": "txt", "paytoqs": "ignore", "url": "https://covid19.who.int/region/wpro/country/ph", "tls": "", "persist": false, "proxy": "", "insecureHTTPParser": false, "authType": "", "senderr": false, "headers": [], "x": 290, "y": 60, "wires": [ [ "1e4371d821c3d8d2", "069d7394bbba22ab" ] ] }, { "id": "091a9d9d9f47f057", "type": "debug", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Confirmed Cases", "active": true, "tosidebar": true, "console": false, "tostatus": false, "complete": "cases", "targetType": "msg", "statusVal": "", "statusType": "auto", "x": 950, "y": 60, "wires": [] }, { "id": "6198859d69eb5061", "type": "ui_text", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "group": "c51ba626ca47e12a", "order": 1, "width": 0, "height": 0, "name": "", "label": "Confirmed Cases:", "format": "{{msg.payload}}", "layout": "row-spread", "className": "", "style": false, "font": "", "fontSize": 16, "color": "#000000", "x": 950, "y": 100, "wires": [] }, { "id": "1e4371d821c3d8d2", "type": "html", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Deaths", "property": "payload", "outproperty": "payload", "tag": "66,466", "ret": "html", "as": "multi", "x": 520, "y": 160, "wires": [ [ "550e62de5a53ed5c" ] ] }, { "id": "e440939396682957", "type": "ui_text", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "group": "c51ba626ca47e12a", "order": 2, "width": 0, "height": 0, "name": "", "label": "Deaths:", "format": "{{msg.deaths}}", "layout": "row-spread", "className": "", "style": false, "font": "", "fontSize": 16, "color": "#000000", "x": 920, "y": 180, "wires": [] }, { "id": "7b33ee8ccb6e4a06", "type": "debug", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Deaths", "active": true, "tosidebar": true, "console": false, "tostatus": false, "complete": "deaths", "targetType": "msg", "statusVal": "", "statusType": "auto", "x": 920, "y": 140, "wires": [] }, { "id": "22dc654beb67f583", "type": "ui_worldmap", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "group": "c51ba626ca47e12a", "order": 2, "width": "25", "height": "10", "name": "", "lat": "12.8797", "lon": "121.7740", "zoom": "4", "layer": "EsriDG", "cluster": "", "maxage": "", "usermenu": "hide", "layers": "hide", "panit": "false", "panlock": "false", "zoomlock": "false", "hiderightclick": "true", "coords": "deg", "showgrid": "false", "showruler": "false", "allowFileDrop": "false", "path": "/worldmap", "overlist": "DR,CO,TL", "maplist": "OSMG,OSMC,EsriC,EsriS,EsriT,EsriDG,UKOS", "mapname": "", "mapurl": "", "mapopt": "", "mapwms": false, "x": 500, "y": 280, "wires": [] }, { "id": "718f4d0a4e9330fa", "type": "function", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Philippines", "func": "var cases = msg.cases;\nvar deaths = msg.deaths;\nvar thing = {\n name: \"Philippines\",\n lat: 12.8797,\n lon: 121.7740,\n icon: \"circle\",\n iconColor: \"white\",\n extrainfo: \"Covid Cases: \" + cases,\n extrainfo1: \"Deaths: \" + deaths\n};\nmsg.payload = thing;\nreturn msg;\n", "outputs": 1, "noerr": 0, "initialize": "", "finalize": "", "libs": [], "x": 330, "y": 280, "wires": [ [ "22dc654beb67f583" ] ] }, { "id": "069d7394bbba22ab", "type": "html", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Confirmed Cases", "property": "payload", "outproperty": "payload", "tag": "4,139,295", "ret": "html", "as": "multi", "x": 490, "y": 60, "wires": [ [ "5a9a0e79ef7ff8a6" ] ] }, { "id": "e8e0a19b47b64771", "type": "inject", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "", "props": [ { "p": "payload" }, { "p": "topic", "vt": "str" } ], "repeat": "300", "crontab": "", "once": true, "onceDelay": 0.1, "topic": "", "payload": "", "payloadType": "date", "x": 90, "y": 60, "wires": [ [ "1f6e436116ffe31c" ] ] }, { "id": "5a9a0e79ef7ff8a6", "type": "function", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Cases", "func": "msg.cases = msg.payload;\nreturn msg;", "outputs": 1, "noerr": 0, "initialize": "", "finalize": "", "libs": [], "x": 690, "y": 60, "wires": [ [ "091a9d9d9f47f057", "6198859d69eb5061", "718f4d0a4e9330fa" ] ] }, { "id": "550e62de5a53ed5c", "type": "function", "z": "985cda7e28443c0d", "name": "Deaths", "func": "msg.deaths = msg.payload;\nreturn msg;\n", "outputs": 1, "noerr": 0, "initialize": "", "finalize": "", "libs": [], "x": 680, "y": 160, "wires": [ [ "7b33ee8ccb6e4a06", "e440939396682957", "718f4d0a4e9330fa" ] ] }, { "id": "c51ba626ca47e12a", "type": "ui_group", "name": "Text Test", "tab": "b162e6518a85091a", "order": 1, "disp": true, "width": 25, "collapse": false, "className": "" }, { "id": "b162e6518a85091a", "type": "ui_tab", "name": "Covid-19 Tracker", "icon": "dashboard", "disabled": false, "hidden": false } ] submitted by Awe777some to nodered [link] [comments] |
2023.06.02 12:49 Gladius_Illuminatus How to do on chip debugging on an Arduino, a tutorial
DISCLAIMER I am NOT the person in the YoutTube video thumbnail and this is NOT just a text version of said video. This is a tutorial I wrote and the video is just one of my sources. Sadly I cant make the thumbnail disappear on mobile... Alright, so first things first. This is a follow-up to my
original post, where I originally asked how to do what I’m about to explain to you. What that basically means is that I ain't no pro, and I’m sure there are better and more correct ways to do this, but dang it was a lot of work to figure this all out, so I’m hoping it helps someone somewhere down the line.
I originally needed to do some debugging on an Arduino Mega 2560 (A Controllino to be more specific, but that’s just a Mega in a PLC package) and “Conventional” Arduino style serial Print debugging even while using some more advanced techniques like using
#define to create Serial.print macros, using
PlatformIO with the AVR Stub debugger or making use of the
Better Serial Plotter was just not cutting it anymore. They are all nice, but for one reason or another did not quite cut it for me. Read my original post or the linked articles for more details. After asking the good folks of Reddit for help, I bought an
ATMEL-ICE to do some
JTAG debugging. In case you are not using a Mega like me, check the
manufacturers website of your microcontroller. They will usually tell you if they support JTAG. Note that if you are using something other than an AVR chip, this process will be different.
Andreas Spiess did a pretty good tutorial for other Chips like the popular ESP32.
Right enough talking let's get to the point.
PS Buckle up this is gonna be long and technical, and it already IS the TLDR; It took me two weeks and more curses and running to people for help who actually know what they are doing than I'd like to admit...
You will need:
- A microcontroller to debug (Arduino Mega 2560 in this example)
- PlatformIO (I use it with VS Code)
- Microchip Studio
- The ATMEL-ICE debugger (for some reason I could not find a local seller who would sell this to a private person. I could get one since this was for my day job, but I also saw some on the ol AliExpress and the Chinese ain’t picky about accepting someone’s money if they want to spend it, unlike Microchip...)
- Some jumper wires to hook it all up.
Once you installed all the software, it is time for step one:
Enabling on Chip debugging and JTAG because this is disabled by default.
IF you are using a stock Arduino board that has an ISP header (the six pins somewhere at the back of the board) do this:
- Take the ATMEL-ICE and connect the cable with the 6pole connector to the plug labeled “AVR”
- Connect the 6pole connector to the ISP header as shown in this tutorial
IF you are using some variant that does not have an ISP header
- Take the ATMEL-ICE and connect the cable with the labeled pins to the plug labeled “AVR”
- Connect the wires to your board as per page 21 of the ATMEL-ICE user guide
Now regardless of board follow these steps
- Plug in the ATMEL-ICE and your board so both have power. The ATMEL-ICE does NOT provide power to the board.
- Open Microchip Studio and go to Tools>Device Programming
- Choose the ATMEL-ICE for the Tool, your controller for device (for me 2560) and ISP for the Interface then hit apply.
- Now hit Read on the device signature. If all went well, you should now see an ID and a voltage up top and a new menu. If not check your wiring.
- Under Fuses set the following fuses to high
a. JTAGEN
b. BOOTRST
c. OCDEN
Then hit program.
- To make sure the fuses are set correctly, unplug your board, plug it back in and repeat steps 4-6. Under fuses you should now see those fuses set to HIGH when you read.
Great that’s the first part done now to connect the ATMEL-ICE in JTAG mode
- Search your microcontrollers datasheet until you find what pins are used for JTAG. In case of the Atmega2560 these can be found on page 85 of the datasheet.
- Now connect them to the corresponding pins of the ATMEL-ICE using the cable with the labeled pins plugged in to the AVR connector using the pinout on page 20 of the ATMEL-ICE user guide. For me this looked like this:
a. ATMEL ICE Pin 1 (TCK) → A4
b. ATMEL ICE Pin 2 (GND) → GND
c. ATMEL ICE Pin 3 (TDO) → A6
d. ATMEL ICE Pin 4 (VCC) → 5V
e. ATMEL ICE Pin 5 (TMS) → A5
f. ATMEL ICE Pin 9 (TDI) → A7
I did not need the rest of the pins.
Now for the actual debugging:
- Compile the project you want to debug in PlatformIO, making sure you have set the following parameters in the platformio.ini
a. "build_type = debug" This tells pio to build in debug mode
b. "debug_build_flags = -g -ggdb -Og -Wl,-Map,output.map" These parameters make it so the resulting .elf file contains all the necessary information for debugging and also creates a map file with all linked files paths.
- Locate the resulting firmware.elf and copy the path. It should be under: YOUR_PROJECT_DIRECTORY\.pio\build\BOARD_NAME hint: you can right-click on the .pio directory in PlatformIO under the explorer tab and open it from there.
- Open Microchip Studio and under File>Open>Open File for Debugging, enter the path to open the firmware.elf file. Name your Project and click next.
- Choose your chip (for me the AtMega2560) and confirm
- If all went well, a window should open showing various file paths. Quite probably, some files are reported missing. We will add them in the next step. Just confirm everything and continue
- On the right, you should now see a tab called “Solution Explorer” and an open solution. Right-click on the solution and choose Ad>NewSolutionFolder. Name your Folder src. Repeat this to create folders called include and ArduinoFiles. Now right-click the src folder and choose Add>ExistingItem. Now navigate to the src folder of the pio project you are trying to debug and mark all files and hit add. Do the same, but with the folder include. Now we need to add all the Arduino files. These are located under C:\Users\USERNAME\.platformio\packages\framework-arduino-avr\cores\arduino.
- Next, we need to tell Microchip studio what debugger we are using. Click on Debug>PROJECTNAME Properties and then navigate to Tool there select Atmel-ICE and JTAG as the interface. You can now close this window.
- Finally, open your main from the src folder we created and set a breakpoint on the first line of the main loop by clicking in the gray bar left of the code. Now to debug, hit the small green arrow in the toolbar. The project should build (this takes some time) and the start and halt where you set the breakpoint. All code should be recognized (no red squiggly lines, otherwise you forgot to include some files in step 6.) Now you can debug to your hearths content ! If this is not the case, check your wiring.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The files we added in step 6 are linked. That means if you change something here it gets changed in the original files so be careful!
- If you make changes to your code, you need to recompile and re-upload from PlatformIO. Atmel Studio should see some files changed and prompt you to do a reload. For some reason this throws an error message but so for I just hit ok and ignored it and everything seems to work as intended after.
