Unfortunately, new Reddit, and the official Reddit apps, just don't provide us with the levels of accessibility we need in order to continue effectively running this community. As well, the Transcribers of Reddit, the many dedicated folks who volunteer to transcribe and describe thousands and thousands of images on Reddit, may also be unable to operate.
One of our moderators, u/itsthejoker, has had multiple hour-long calls with various Reddit employees. However, as of the current time, our concerns have gone unheard, and Reddit remains firm. That's why the moderation team of blind now feels that we have no choice but to take further action.

The protest:

In solidarity with thousands of other subreddits who are impacted by this change, we will be shutting down the /blind subreddit for 48 hours from June 12th to June 14th. You will not be able to read or make posts during that time.

In the rush to draft a response to reddit's decision to kill Third Party Apps, our team made an omission in calculating the impact this move by reddit will have on its users.
For the visually impaired, iOS is a disaster.
Here is how this was explained to me:
On Android, the official Reddit mobile app is reasonably usable with the Android screen reader, but the experience on iOS is a completely different story. There are missing elements, broken navigation, nonsensical labels, and more problems that plague those who just want to interact with the site. If you decide to become a moderator the problems are compounded even more.
Third party apps, like Dystopia for Reddit and Apollo, have addressed this niche left so underserved for so many years because Reddit won't. It took literal years of tickets and complaints to get New Reddit to be accessible, and now the door has been shut in our collective faces. As things currently stand, this change doesn't just take away our clients; it takes away our voice.
It takes away our voice.
And what is reddit's official response to this madness? (Make no mistake, this move by reddit is madness.)

As one of the mods of blind I depend on third party apps. Once the apps are gone, I may be left with no choice but to step down and close my 17 year old account. I hope it wont’ come to that.

So in response to these concerns and others, Save3rdPartyApps has been formed and is also supporting the protest.

So, I got a burst of inspiration and decided to start this before me ignoring it drives me further into crazy town.
Also, I have lots of story ideas piling up, so I decided to start making the actual story.
Anyway, this story is basically NoP with hard sci-fi rules applied to it. Also some other creative decisions.

Date[standardized human time]: July 12, 2136
I felt my body relax as we exited FTL travel.
FTL wasn't actually the most accurate name for what was happening. It was an acronym for "Faster Than Light" Travel, but we weren't actually moving faster than light; that would create a time paradox. Instead, it distorted space and caused the ship to rapidly displace itself over relatively short distances, which build up to hundreds of millions of miles. It was basically teleporting in a way that made it look like we were traveling faster than light.
It has taken almost 70 years of careful calculations, tests, and safety developments to get to the point where FTL travel wouldn't damage a living thing(at least under normal circumstances), and even now we were taking a lot of risks.
Sarah and I, however, were well aware of the risks, and we continued anyway.
Our current scientific mission was analyzing the nearest alien planet: a habitable planet orbiting a red dwarf star. Discovering life out in the universe would be the most revolutionary discovery of human history, and would prove that we are not alone in the universe; that there was a chance we could make friends from beyond our world.
I looked at the massive planet before me. We approximated it's gravity to be between 1.2 and 1.5 G. The conditions would be uncomfortable, but humans would adjust to them pretty nicely. I could see the coat of ice surrounding the rear half of the planet, neatly contrasting with the dry, almost burnt looking other half. There was an ocean extending from the ring towards a very stormy area closest to the sun. There were also other strings of clouds hovering over the green ring around-

"Is... Is that what I think it is?" I heard Sarah ask beside me.
I stared at the thick ring of dark green surrounding the circumference of the planet, neatly dividing the cold and warm halves of the planet.
Plants have two different ways to develop their color: either they are the same color as the star to block out all of that color radiation and asborb all of the other colors, or they develop the opposite color to feed off of the color of the star. Therefore, a red dwarf star would certainly give rise to either green or red plants.
This planet had plants.
We've done it! We have discovered alien life!
"It's... amazing..." I said out loud in awe.
"I'll send a message back home!" Sarah practically yelled as she scrambled to the communication terminal.
I continued to stare in awe at the discovery we had just made. I could only imagine the number of unique and fascinating species that lived there, the number of unique adaptations they had to their unique environment, and even the-

"NOAH! LOOK AT THIS!" Sarah shouted from the communication terminal. I rushed over and looked at the screen.

After sending the message, we began waiting. Sarah paced around the ship as she barely restrained the urge to dance in excitement, and I basically did the same.

Not specifically development related, but hoping whether some of you may have a clue as to what causes this rendering issue.
Unsure if this issue is present on other UE3 games, but Mirror's Edge will show this graphical glitch when the in-game resolution has a vertical pixel value higher than 720p AND the aspect ratio is less than 16:9. This glitch otherwise does not occur if the aspect ratio is equal to or wider than 16:9.
The glitch can be seen in the main menu as shown in the Imgur link above, but launching a level will simply show the whole screen being completely white (pause menu is still functional however).
To give some context, Mirror's Edge uses the ConstrainedAspectRatio property at 16:9 by default (resulting in letterboxing/pillarboxing for non-16:9 resolutions), so either the Boolean or the ConstrainedAspectRatio value needs to hex-edited to allow for aspect ratios other than 16:9, which can be done fairly easily. The question I have then is: why does this graphical glitch occur for less wide than 16:9 aspect ratios when specifically the in-game vertical resolution is higher than 720p?
I was wondering if anyone would have an idea as to what this glitch represents/why it happens/if it's specific to UE3 or whether it's a limitation seen across other games/game engines. Hopefully your insight could provide me with some pointers to fix this issue!

Hello, my husband and I have been married almost 4 years and together for 9. I found out a little more than a year ago that he’d been having an affair. I was shattered as it wasn’t the first time he’d cheated on me but the first time it was an actual affair. He’d previously slept with an old friend from high school which caused us A LOT of trouble and before that he had a threesome with this girl he dated on and off before me and a friend of hers. So when I found out I didn’t know what to do.
About two months later I started flirting with a coworker of mine (M 33). At first it was just harmless flirting but then feelings developed and without realizing it I was having an affair of my own. My husband found out and was furious!! I’d never seen him so upset! At that point the thought of breaking it off with the guy was close to devastating even though we hadn’t been together very long. My husband and I somewhat tried to rectify our marriage but eventually the guy and I started seeing each other again. A little while back my husband told me that if I slept with him he and I would be done. So he was looking at pics on my phone and came across something related to the guy so he snatched my phone and locked himself in a room and read our texts. He didn’t speak to me for a week. At this point I never know if he’s going to be heartbroken, cruel, loving he changes minute by minute. The problem is we have 2 amazing little girls together and I’m not financially capable of living on my own. There’s a part of me that wants to stay and fight for the marriage and another part of me that wants to at least separate temporarily. The next problem is the guy feels horrible about breaking up a marriage and even though we talk EVERYDAY and have told each other we love each other he says he’s not looking to be in a relationship anytime soon! So what exactly did he think we were in?? I just don’t know what to do!! Do I stay and fight for my marriage meaning I lose a man I love or do I leave and maybe still not be with him? Hey im new, not so sure how these thing works but alright,okey some context.
So... not sure how to say it. My Best friend of 5 years Sexualy and Mentally abused me for 4 months...
She took advantage of me in the worst way, she trick me in to believing that she was my friend, she even help me pay for my ticket to the USA so I could go to work there and have a "better" life, of course I took the chance, I left everything behind me, I left my family and Fiance so I could pursue a better life for us, for all of us. She promised me she will help me with the transportation to places I needed to go (for example, Doctors, offices etc) she also promised me she will stay by my side ( She was the only person I knew in the usa) but as soon a weak passed by she literally started treating me like her fucking personal maid and I was fiscally punish for any mistake I will commit, I remember once I left a plate in the sink and she hit me in the Head with the same plate.
I ask my Fiance and other friends for help but they couldn't do anything to save me, I had to save myself from that monster, and it got worst and worst, her brother moved in to the house we were sharing, and her brother was worst, he Locked me up in the bathroom, he will call me gross, he will even choke me... Hi everyone,
My wife and I are planning to visit Iceland in the month of March 2024 for around 12 days approx. We are from India and I have a good experience of driving in normal conditions. We were thinking about renting a car and doing a road trip along the ring road.
I am skeptical about weather conditions and how one plans around the same. Please help us with everything be it itinerary, hotel recoms, car rental recoms, driving in winter.
Also, how one should navigate if they come across snow storms, blizzards? How it affects next bookings etc if we are stuck somewhere?

When i was younger, maybe 8 years old, i used to spend summer at my grandmothers house. she had a nice place and her house was very connected. when you walked in there would be a kitchen on the left and behind the kitchen looking further there would be my grandmas bed, then to the right would be a door. going through that door would be another bedroom with bunkbeds, a tv and a fireplace. looking forward there would be a toilet that had two doors- one to grandmes bed, and the other to this bedroom.
anyways once i was sleeping in my grandmes bed with her and i woke up at night and saw shadows on the ceiling. it was like two men were talking and i heard whispers. every time i blinked they would go away - the next time i blinked the shadows came back. so i just played with the shadows for a little bit until they were gone and wouldnt come back. when that happened i heard wet grass footsteps and the bed was facing the front door where the eye hole was. from there was shining moonlight. but when the wet grass footsteps faded it was like a shadow walked through the front door.
i got scared so i just turned away and went to sleep. after a few days i went home. then after a few weeks my mother told me that there was a stolen chainsaw from my grandmas garage.
the next time i slept there i had this dream. it went like this: i wake up i look to my left where grandma should be and shes not there. she left the covers like she hurried to go somehwere. its the middle of the nightand the front door is a bit opened. in the bedroom i can hear the tv but not see it. it was breaking news something about a white figure like with a greenscreen suit but instead it was white and he walked on all fours. they said to be careful. then that same white figure stepped into the bathroom and turned to look at me. i froze in schock and the dream ended.
the second night i dreamed the same thing but this time when the figure walked out i atood up from the bed and said "i am not afraid of you!". he didnt do anything and the dream ended.
the third night i had the same dream but this time i went to look for grandma. i stepped outside and looked around for her. i went behind the house where cows usually would be. there i saw the greaper holding my grandma and looking at me. keep in mind there wasnt tiktok then so i didnt even know about the grim reaper. i started shouting at him to let grandma go but he just stood there. after a few seconds of silence he dropped her and the dream ended.
i was shook but didnt say a thing to anyone. after i went home a few days later grandma went to the hospital. she layed there for a few weeks before dieing.
only now i have linked up the dreams with these events. i stopped having nightmares after grandma died. till this day i am terribly scared of ghosts and dont know if i believe them or not. thoughts?

Can anyone recommend fridge? I previously got double door fridge second hand LG which had last us for the 5 years but seems like less cold nowadays. Although look pretty, heard people have issue with samsung and hitachi, but can i hear some experiences ?

Was tagging along with a friend who was door dashing and we got caught in the storm, and then were in town to see the aftermath

Don't get me wrong, the actual ride of it was amazing, specifically the one I test drove was a 4 door Wild track with the 2.7L ecoboost. Totally appropriate amount of power for the car, surprisingly smooth on normal roads given the 35 inch tires, and although I absolutely hate that you cant permanently disable auto start stop without physical hardware bypass I could totally see myself having a bronco as a daily driver year round from a drivability standpoint.
But my god, does the interior feel cheap. I understand that the Bronco's are purpose built as an off roading vehicle, but considering the premium they charge, especially for higher trim models, I was surprised. The entire dashboard of the bronco feels like a fisher price toy. Hollow thin plastics, creaky, not to mention that all the grab handles had quite a bit of play to them. The particular unit I test drove also had the leather seats which felt very cheap, like they wouldn't last especially exposed taking the doors and top off. The Wilk track I drove also had the factory 6 speaker audio system with subwoofer delete and it should be illegal to sell a car for $83,000 Canadian (that's sticker, no markup) with such a bad audio system, my old 2006 jeep TJ had a better sounding system... but that's besides the point.
I completely understand that there has to be concessions in the interior when it comes to a vehicle built for off road purposes, but immediately after driving the bronco I went to my local dodge dealer and test drove a fully loaded 4 door wrangler Rubicon. The quality inside was a night and day difference, and that's with the current JL wranglers having a carryover interior that has been more or less the same since 2012. All the plastics inside while still hard were solid, hardly any creaking and nothing sounding hollow. The leather seats in this Rubicon were not only comfier, but the quality of the leather was a huge step above. This Rubicon had the premium Alpine audio system, and my god did it absolutely destroy the broncos, although to be fair to compare apples to apples id need to hear one with the B&O system. The real kicker is that on top of this all the Rubicon was $13,000 cheaper.
I'm no expert by any means but from what I could find between the Wild track and the Rubicon there isn't a clear winner in terms of performance off the roads, both have their strengths and weaknesses and both have a lot of similarities, I just don't see the bronco being with that much more than a similarly spec'd wrangler, if anything bronco trims across the board I think should start a good $7000 Canadian less than they do. I don't think its unreasonable to want a better quality interior for $83,000 ($62,000 USD)

i often struggle with what would make an interesting photo vs what is exploitative. here is a very recent example...yesterday i am walking in copenhagen with my camera. i'm standing on a corner trying to decide which way to go when i hear shouting. the shouting grows and is joined by the sound of glass breaking. i look around but can't see the source. part of me wants to carry on minding my own business. but the part of me with a camera wants to go see. so i walk towards the sound of breaking glass. there's some sort of men's housing facility it seems...and a fight. within seconds a dude takes off running in the direction of where i was just standing. he's chased by a few others. one of those guys is bleeding a little and doesn't run far. i watch all of this from across the street. then bleeding guy kind of walks around dazed. and at this point i am thinking i am too shy to go ask a guy in distress if i can take his photo. i consider crossing the street and shooting from the hip. but then my fear and/or decency? urge me to walk away. but for an hour or two i regret it. because i know that photo of a guy standing there staring at the lens with a bloody nose and forehead could have been amazing. at the very least it would have been interesting. maybe you have to be willing to exploit to take interesting photos. i doubt weegee gave AF. WWYD??

(THIS IS NOT THE FULL STORY) I’m a 15 year old girl and have decided to get some tattoos this year. I found this tattoos and piercings studio through a friend of mine, I remembered he used to pierce my septum a few months ago at the old studio and so I thought we could be easy to get closer and cooperate with each other The tattoo artist did my lower back tattoo (tramp stamp), and my lower belly tattoo. As usual, I often come to the studio to put on some healing balm on my tattoos. I also got a piercing appointment on that day. I thought that he would just rub the balm on my tattoos like usual but suddenly I felt a hand groping on my butt. I felt clearly uncomfortable- “Was this part of the process?”. He was applying the balm on my tattoo, while also groping me. but I decided to stay silent. He told me to turn around for him to apply the balm on my lower belly tattoo, and so I did. A few seconds in, he was applying the balm on my tattoo but it seems like my belt was getting in the way. He told me to take the belt off, which I did and I felt it was necessary to do so. He started applying the balm on my tattoo again but things didn’t last long, he suddenly tried to unbuckle my pants. I was in complete shock. I immediately pulled away from him and said “WTF were you trying to do to me”. He smiled and responded “Well I thought you liked that”. I even threatened him that I will tell his girlfriend about this but he just laughed it off- “Don’t worry, it’s just the two of us in here”. I got shivers down my spine, I returned to my seat and hurriedly text my friend to come here ASAP. At that moment, I was horrified, I kept trying to look down to my phone. A few minutes later he looked at me he said that I should tie my hair up, which I declined. But he continued to say “Well come here and I can tie your hair up for you”, I felt creepy and obviously declined heavily. There was this point where he grabbed my arm and made me sit on the side of his lap, he grabbed my hand and started to rub it softly, he asked why my hands were so dried, I answered that maybe my body lacked hydration so that’s why my palm’s skin were dry and peeling off. Then our hands intertwined. My friend came in time and I told him to go down to get my friend. He said I can go open the door and when I did, I found out that the door was locked, I knew that he had intentions but I didn’t do anything. Keep in mind that the tattoo artist have already had a girlfriend so that’s why I felt comfortable being around him until this happened. I want to tell my parents but I’m scared that they’ll find out I have tattoos and I don’t want the police to do anything with this at all. I’m thinking that at least I could help his girlfriend get rid of him because of cheating and doing disgusting behavior on a minor that he was very aware of. I think I’m the first person to experience this in his studio. Besides my plan to expose him with a voice recording and showing it to his girlfriend, what should I do next?

Serious answers only, please. I love my cat to bits, I really don’t want to give her up for adoption or anything else. However, she’s simply impossible to live with in a 50 cubic meter apartment. My sister and I currently live together, she needs to close her door because otherwise the cat jumps on her bed and meows right in her ear at 3:30 am, or licks her paw loudly right by her face, or runs around at wee hours of the morning.
Of course, sister doesn’t plan to let my cat ruin her sleep so she closes her doors every night. Unfortunately, this means I never sleep properly. Last night I fell asleep properly only around 2:30 am because she kept pawing the toilet, and for whatever reason even if the toilet is clean, she sometimes does this for full three minutes and then just leaves.
It’s such a loud sound it’s impossible to fall asleep when she does. At top of this she keeps jumping up and down from the bed. I finally fell asleep but around 8 am she started doing something with the bed, idk what it was but it was loud so I woke up again. As I was going to the bathroom I realized she puked right over the floor. This is a whole new issue, I’ve been to the vet, changed her food and done so many things but it persists.
At any rate, I’m at my wits end. Like I said, I really don’t want to give her up for adoption, but I don’t see any way to deal with her behavior and I haven’t been sleeping properly for months. Any advice would be appreciated!

I feel like if I lived in Jersey or FiDi, id be a united loyalist w/ EWR. But in astoria, with LGA next door and JFK an easy uber, I’m not sure which airline I should focus my loyalty on for status/points. For folks that do pursue a status, which one and why?

Why power goes off in an zombie apocalypse
I would imagine it goes like this :-
Stage One : Patient Zero appears and starts to infect the population. It’s unlikely she (and they) work in the general infrastructure but that doesn’t matter, because “Bacon’s Law of Six Degrees” suggests they know someone who knows someone who does.
Stage Two : As the virus spreads and more people turns, the odds of the virus reaching people who work in the infrastructure increases, but also the odds of the fear of the virus reaching people who work in the infrastructure increases. So pretty soon there will be a tipping point —-
Stage Three : The Tipping Point. There are either enough people infected or enough people who don’t want to leave their homes or enough people who have fled their homes to ensure that the people who manage the city/town/village infrastructure are no longer around. And while during a “normal” pandemic (flu, Ebola, Covid 19 etc) there can be requirements to work and ways to take safety precautions to ensure staff will turn up to work, when a single bit will kill you and ensure you turn into a zombie it is pretty hard to make people turn up to work. Especially when your boss and the government has probably collapsed as well.
Stage Four : With no one to manage the infrastructure, it collapses. Power goes off, gas stops, water stops. The city collapses into chaos. We are now in a post apocalyptic world.
Stage Five : Everyone dies. Or at least mostly everyone dies, and those who don’t wish they had.
That’s pretty much why.
Another interpretation
During a zombie apocalypse, as the virus is being spread across the country, people are panicking, trying to find their families, trying to find safety, looting, rioting.
The last thing your thinking about when you see your neighbor Bill being eaten by his wife Shelly, is that you gotta punch in at the plant today. No way, your either going crazy and looting, or your planning your next move listening for news,gathering supplies, getting your loved ones together and getting out of the cities to somewhere safer.
So basically, its affecting people that would be going to their jobs, if there is no one to run the power plants, there is no power.
A power station is really a machine that extracts energy from a fuel. Some power stations burn fossil fuels such as coal, oil, or gas. Nuclear power stations produce energy by splitting apart atoms of heavy materials such as uranium and plutonium. The heat produced is used to convert water into steam at high pressure. In others, backup generation systems failed. Telephone networks generally remained operational, but the increased demand triggered by the blackout left many circuits overloaded. Emergency services responded to 80,000 calls for help, more than double the average.And as the social structure falls, there is no one to enforce law and order. No one to make sure your going to be at work anyway, you don't wanna be the only shmuck going to work when everyone else is either dead or fighting for their lives do you? You probably just get attacked at work anyway by the janitorial staff.
