24, Female, Caucasian, US. Medications currently lorazepam and escotalipram. Conditions Ibs and chronic Constipation. I got very sick January 2022, my stomach suddenly went from being able to eat everything. To getting sick from everything, I managed to eventually get a gi and do testing. Colonoscopy clear, celiac clear, then got the endoscopy. By now it had been many months of suffering and hospital visits. It was July when I got my gastritis diagnosis, I was told just had a mild case a bit of inflammation. I didn’t have Helicobacter pylori, so I didn’t need antibiotic. I was confused since my research showed that normal gastritis can normally clear up on its own in a few weeks. So why had I been sick for so many months?, started the anti acids, got prescribed a stronger dose. Those took 5 months to start working, I was taking them for 5 months with no improvement. Finally started showing some relief, however my stomachs never been the same. Gi had referred me elsewhere for more testing. However the new Gi thinks it’s just Ibs and is a pain to deal with. I’ve had Ibs for so many years w chronic constipation since birth and never had issues eating foods. I can’t eat dairy anymore, fatty food, spicy food, greasy food, high fructose, etc. Pretty much anything I eat makes me feel sick. It’s been over a year now, I try eating vegan only eating meat if it’s white chicken breasts and such, fish too. Gi has me scheduled for SIBO breath test in late July. I’m sick of eating simple veggies and food that should be safe and then just feeling sick after. Bloating, gas, cramps, pain, clear mucus sometimes light yellow w bile, when constipated and such dark yellow mucus for hours till I empty my bowels out. I don’t understand how a small case of gastritis sent me into this suffering?

Hey so I just had my surgery on the 30 and I thought I’d give a detailed description of how the process went for me. Please bare with me. I did the best I could describing and telling my story.
The beginning:
I went to my doctor and asked for her to refer me to the bariatric doctor because I was ready to discuss surgery. Last year before I had my 2nd son I had started a weight loss pill that helped me lose 30 pounds. Which put the breaks on getting surgery. (It was a discussion with my doctor but I wanted to try the pills before doing surgery) A requirement was being over 210 and with taking the pills it brought me to 200 so I didn’t see the point of surgery. But then I got pregnant, had gestational diabetes and gained a bunch of weight. He’s one now and I still haven’t been able to let the weight go which motivated me to go the surgery route. My genetics also play a huge part in why I decided to get the surgery. Me and my mom both have the same body type and she struggles with her weight. And I decided I didn’t want to be on that path.
The program:
So I started my program. Which consisted of monthly appointments with a dietician practicing diets and figuring out any bad habits to try to get rid of them. I’ll be honest I didn’t follow much. I just showed up to my appointments and took all the information in. As long as I didn’t gain weight I was okay. I started the program at 250lbs. At the end of the 6 months I lost 5lbs. I failed the psych evaluation and had to redo it. But it only delayed the process by a couple of weeks. No biggie.
Scheduling:
Once I got the okay to have surgery, they scheduled my day. I believe I was called on the 1st week of may and was schedule may 30. I was super shocked it was so close. But was ready for it to be done. I had to do a liquid diet for a week. Also know as the liver shrink diet. Only liquids my dietician said salads for dinner was okay. Which I followed to a T until the 6th day. Before the liquid stage I got sick and had no appetite so I wasn’t eating anything at all. In that week I lost 5lbs, I gained like 2 back when I started eating again but then I went right to the liquid diet and I felt like I was losing it. I hadn’t really ain’t a solid meal in almost 2 weeks. So I had one solid meal of rice and meat (spanish food). I went back to the liquid diet for the next 2 days and lost 7lbs in total on the liquid diet. I was also told to stop any vitamins or pills so I did that as well.
The surgery:
So the day of my surgery I didn’t eat anything. My surgeon recommended I drink a G2 on the way to the hospital to help with the anesthesia. Which I did. I didn’t drink the whole thing cause my stomach was all twisted from not really eating anything. They also wanted me to shower the night before and the morning of using the hibiclens. I had my mom drop me off because they don’t allow you to drive home and I did not want to leave my car in the garage overnight. I got there at 7 am. I was admitted and waited to be called to the back. They put me in a admitting room where they had me change into a surgery gown. Had me document my belongings. And pee in a cup for a pregnancy test. They asked all the same questions all over again which I answered. A nurse wiped my belly again with what I believe was hibiclens again. They then put my iv and started fluid. The anesthesiologist came in asked me questions and then said they were giving me meds to go to sleep. They rolled me out to the surgery room which was almost 10am when I checked the time. 5 minutes later I was out. I woke up in the recovery room.
Waking up:
So I woke up and was out of it. I believe it was around 12-1pm. They let me stay asleep while they made sure my vitals were back to normal. I did hear the nurse a few times saying that my pressure was high but they were able to fix it because they moved me to my own room shortly after. Getting to my own room I slept sooo much. They would come to get me up to walk every 4 hours unless I got up to pee. Which I had to call a nurse to help me go cause I wasn’t allowed to get up on my own. Majority of the times I woke up I felt nauseous. Which lead to me throwing up blood.(this is normal) So for the first 18 hours out of surgery I slept, woke up to pee, threw up and walked around the floor for a lap to get my steps in. They would also give me pain and nausea meds. I was also getting continuous fluids. Which is why I was peeing every 2-3 hours. The pain always maintained level 6-7 it never got worse then that. And the pain meds and sleeping made it non existent. (I want to add I do have a high pain tolerance. I had 2 8+lb babies with no epidural if that helps gauge it.) The next morning I felt so restless I was ready to go. They discharged me around 12pm and my sister in law picked me up. They were able to bring me my meds to take home and I went home feeling way better then I did the first day.
Things I think I forgot:
I have 5 incisions. I’m currently on a liquid diet. It hurts to cough ( I am still alittle sick) the glue is already coming off around the incisions. I hardly drink or eat anything. I’m struggling to hit my goals but I’m hopeful that I can do it. I’m only on day 2 of being home. I do get gas. But burping helps relieve the pains. I don’t take the pain meds as prescribed. Only when I really feel like I’m in pain. I am a weed smoker and I have posted about it in the past and wanted to say I did smoke 2 nights before the surgery. But not the night of. And everything went smooth for me. This doesn’t mean it will be the same for everyone else. Also want to add I am not really a heavy smoker. I just smoke when I want to. I’m sorry if this was long. But I noticed alot of people asking how others procedures went and I wanted to share mine. I hope this will help someone. So far I do not regret my decision. I am a total of 14lbs down since I started my liquid diet. I know it’s just the beginning and I have so much ahead of me to conquer. The worst has past and I honestly believe it was the surgery. Please ask any questions. I’m open to answering anything.

Bots getting detected and people getting banned and getting emails is an obvious reason it died. But for me the real reason is that even with a bot I cannot reliably get a $30/hour+ block anymore. I think amazon adjusted the way it hands out blocks now to make more slightly above base pay blocks, which means much, much less surge blocks. Result is that bot or not, flex simply isnt worth doing anymore, because anything under $30/hour means you are basically making less than minimum wage when you factor in wear and tear, gas, commute, double SS payroll tax, etc. Too many people chase $22/hour blocks, thinking they are making $22/hour because they are idiots or short sighted, and do not factor in expenses into their wage. In the end what killed flex are idiots who will work for $10/hour. And some of them have two people in the same car doing it, so they are really making like $5/hour each lol. No bot can fix that.

I sat in a parking lot for 40 minutes after working all day on a scheduled block. Made $25 in two hours not counting mileage, gas, taxes and my time. Had to restart the app twice due to being kicked off because I "missed" offers that I didn't notice even though I was staring at my phone, no audible notification. There were some sucky orders that only appeared for about 12 seconds.
This used to be such a great opportunity for flexibility to work on other projects and as a side hustle, decent money. Now I can only bear it for a couple of hours when I can get a shift on a Friday. It's disgusting and needs to be regulated.
The orders I did mange to take that were decent had other orders chiming at me with the same exact pick up time for the next order pickup as the current drop off. Ok, sure... me in my Delorian will fly to the next location to meet that stat. No problem. LOL.

I'm prepared the pay the extra for premium, and I did the math on how much each tank of gas with premix will cost me (about an additional 2 dollars) My daily commute is only 11 miles each way, with very little traffic, six days a week at 70km per hour. Aside from that, the car would do one or two road trips each summer, approximately 3 hours each way. I don't, at present, have a garage to store the car in for the winter season. I'm checking with neighbors , but so far, nobody wants to help me out. I may end up checking with some apartments around here that have underground parking and vacant apartments. I have the money, its not like I'm blowing my life savings, but I'll be taking out a loan for half with a four year term. I look at it as a chance to (further) improve my credit. It'll only be 101 dollars a month.

My wife and I are on our second. He is only 3 weeks old. Our first put us through absolute hell when it came to getting him to sleep. Fortunately we got that figured out. Things are much better so far this round however the newborn is struggling really bad with gas. He struggles to sleep because of it. We will work to get him peacefully sleeping then he will burst out crying in pain tensing up every few minutes. His stomach will feel hard. It will go on all night long. It tears your heart out to hear him scream in pain. During the day it doesn’t seem to be so bad. I don’t know why. I am able to get him to sleep while swaddled on his back for hours at a time during the day. We do leg work to try and work out gas as well as plenty of tummy time. Those methods get out plenty of gas but he still has a hard time. We have also tried gripe water and mylicon and it’s tough to tell how much they really help. He is breastfed so my wife has talked about changing her diet up to see if that will help and she’s planning to do that. I know there isn’t going to be a magic fix and this is probably something he’s just going to have to grow out of as his g.i. system develops but anybody who’s had a similar experience is there any other remedies you found that gave your baby some relief?

I got the idea from this post. It is an interesting thought experiment about an alternate world where Marvel’s cinematic endeavors were messy. Thank goodness Marvel didn’t follow DC’s path. Let me know what changes you would make to my hypothetical:

- Captain America Winter Solider - This version starts with a 30 minute prologue during the war (aka the Man of Steel Krypton sequence). This sequence introduces Bucky and is a truncated version of First Avenger. A revised version of Winter Soldier plays out.
- Captain America v. Ironman: Avengers Assemble - After their work on Winter Soldier, the Russo Brothers are given this film to launch the Marvel Extended Cinematic Universe (MECU). Tony seeks to keep Cap in check after being at the final battle in Winter Soldier and seeing the destruction (the battle was over New York in this version). This leads to a one on one fight that is prodded by Justin Hammer. Thor is a presence throughout the movie and interacts with Stark. Justin Hammer creates Ultron using some of his tech and stolen Stark tech. Ultron is the third act villain to unite the heroes. Thor arrives to help Cap and Tony. Before landing the killing blow, Cap is seemingly vaporized. Tony and Thor how to use Hammer’s hero files to assemble the Avengers to be prepared to defend earth.
- Guardians of the Galaxy - Originally a gothic and dour version of the film directed by David Ayer, studio melding has caused a tonal monstrosity.
- Thor - Prequel film set 100+ years in the past that has Thor defend humanity from his brother Loki. Thor’s love for humanity grows through his attachment to Jane Foster who seemingly dies in a third act sacrifice.
- The Avengers - Loki, who Thor thought dead, returns to threaten the earth. The Avengers are assembled to combat his threat. This version of the team includes Ironman, Black Widow, Hulk, Antman, and Black Panther. At some point, The Avengers learn Captain America wasn’t vaporized by Ultron, but instead teleported to another planet. They bring him home since Tony doesn’t think the team can be led without him. This film feels like a tonal mess since the original directors, The Russo Brothers, were fired and replaced by Joss Whedon halfway through production.
- Black Panther - A stand-alone solo film set after The Avengers and exploring the world of Wakanda.
- Spider-Man Homecoming - This version is a mostly standalone film (aka no Stark) with little connection to the MECU. Captain America has a headless cameo at the end.
- The Nova Corps (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Nebula) - A spin-off of Guardians of the Galaxy focusing on Nebula leaving behind her life of abuse at the hands of Thanos. Richard Rider, Sam Alexander, and the Nova Corps characters from the first Guardians are major players.
- Thor Love and Thunder - Thor combats The Universal Church of Truth and their promise. The promise allows him to encounter his departed Jane Foster again, but he must accept letting her go.
- The Russo Brother’s Avengers - After much fan prodding and pleading, the definitive 4 hour Russo Brothers version of The Avengers is released. One major change is that the Avengers see Thanos through the wormhole right after defeating Loki. Thanos vows to go to earth to retrieve “his great prize”, the Infinity Stones. This will never be paid off.
- The Guardians of the Galaxy - James Gunn is brought in to liven up the team and give his rendition of the Guardians.
- Venom- Tom Hardy had a big ego and refused to crossover with Spider-Man so this is a stand-alone film about Venom. The post credits scene sets up a fight with Captain America, which will never be paid off.
- Spider-Man Far From Home - Partially reworked standalone version (aka no Stark references). Thor is the deus ex-machina at the end of the film.
- Antman - Scott Lang, The Antman, decides to use the Quantum Realm to time travel and undo the mistake that landed him in jail originally. He wants the time he missed with his daughter back. However, in the new timeline, there is no Captain America to stop the Winter Soldier and Hydra. Scott must team up with an alternate self, Captain Carter, and Tom Cruise’s Ironman to save the world. Robert Downey Jr. agreed to return in the opening sequence to give his Ironman closure.
- Ms. Marvel - No one is sure if this is in the current universe or the impending reboot’s universe.
- Black Panther Wakanda Forever - As is.

So, I’m writing this on my phone because I figured I should share my experiences. I’ve shared one already but I figured I should share more as I have had quite the run-ins with some odd things in the woods of the Pacific Northwest.
I live in Oregon, but I do tend to travel on my off time in the wilderness, despite my run ins I love the forest, nature, and all I just tend to be much more careful now.
This first story takes place in my home state. I have a buddy who is a park ranger and he shared me a story of his own. He works at Crater Lake National Park and was patrolling one of the trails that was reported by hikers who said they heard a bear in the area. He went out with a tranquilizer to move the bear out of an area that was close to a campground. He was walking as usual when he felt eyes on him…he began to hear movement in the woods, and he shouted out “anybody out there?”
No response.
He got his tranquilizer ready and proceeded toward the noise. But as he approached, he heard another noise behind him.
Now he was thinking, “Oh no there’s more than one out here.”
Not sure what to do he prepared for the worst but then to his relief it was two deer. He sighed in relief thanking God that he wasn’t going to be mauled that day. But suddenly he noticed blood on one of the deer’s antlers and next to it behind the bushes it came out of was the carcass of a black bear. The two deer just stared at him and returned to feasting on the bear. He wasn’t sure what to do, tranquilize them or risk being a victim? He decided it was best to take the shot and hit both. They didn’t even budge and just walked off into the forest.
He reported the dead carcass of the bear and just had a team remove the remains. Still gives him the Chills thinking back to that day.
The next story was when I went on a fishing trip with a friend in Washington.
We had set out to fish along this river that was calm that day.
We caught a few fish and even some crawdads. I love seafood so I wanted us to stay out longer to catch a few more fish. My friend ended up taking a nap while I continued to fish. All was well but I suddenly noticed something in the distance, something dark moving along the river. I thought it was some sort of log that was stuck and got free and was floating along the river, but its movements didn’t appear normal. It would move back and forth getting closer and closer. I began to get nervous; I can’t really explain why it just felt like I needed to get away from whatever this thing was.
I turned to my friend who was still asleep and heard a splash.
I looked back and the thing was just gone. I looked around wondering where it went, and I saw it. Perched on top of a tree, I thought it was a cougar, I grabbed my binoculars for a closer look, and it was crouched but was tall, lanky and had milky white eyes but covered in black feathers and wearing some sort of animal pelt. I felt a sudden sense of dread and fear I never felt before. I looked back to my friend to wake him but before I could I heard another splash and saw it was back in the water now headed to the boat. I said “F this “and then turned on the motor and hauled ass out of there. My friend woke up yelling at me and asked, “What the hell are you doing?” but I didn’t respond. When we got to the loading dock, I anchored the boat and told him to get in the truck and he protested about leaving the boat and I said, “We will get it later get in now!”
The car ride back I explained everything, and I saw how pale he got. He’s part Native American and explained to me that what I saw was a Skinwalker.
This next story takes place in the Canadian Wilderness. I was on a hunting trip with my buddy who has a cabin in Canada deep in the wilderness, off-grid type of deal. It was the beginning of winter so the snow wasn’t so bad to where you just couldn’t move. He had this goal to get a mountain lion. So, we headed out to a ridge where you could see out to a clearing where he said he saw this specific mountain lion every year. It always came to the same spot, maybe its home was nearby I don’t know. So, its nighttime, and we had a small fire going, I went to go take a piss when I noticed something or somethings… 3 humanoid figures were in the clearing, I quickly put the fire out, and my friend told me “Dude why did you do that?” I told him to shush, and we observed the 3 beings. The thing was this was way out in the middle of the wilderness, there’s absolutely no way that anybody else knew about this spot. Also, the 3 figures looked human, but I could tell they were much taller than normal and their arms, skinny and just moved unnaturally. They were circling something, but I couldn’t tell what exactly. Then one of the figures stopped and looked directly at us. We rushed to cover and didn’t really know what to do. So, we decided to not sleep that night and have our rifles ready just in case. The following morning, we went down to the clearing to see what those figures were circling and sure enough we saw footprints much larger than a normal human and the beheaded mountain lion that my friend wanted mounted in his cabin so badly but now not so much…
This story still comes across my mind to this day. Me and my buddy from our hiking club were going on a hike one day, it was a beautiful hike along a river, and we were looking for places to set up camp. We saw a campground with food and trash everywhere and at first, I was upset that someone just left this much of a mess here. But the longer I looked around the weirder things got…Their trash bag was still hoisted up on a tree branch but ripped open, the food was still there and if a bear or another animal got to the food, they would of ate everything. Also, there tents were still set up, but ripped as if from the inside, clothes still around and even 2 pairs of boots. The whole campground looked as if whoever was there was immediately in a rush to get out of there and just left all their belongings, not even bothering to take their shoes. The hairs on my neck stood up and both my buddy and I decided that we should call it a day and just hike back to the car. I reported the incident to the forest rangers, but they said they weren’t aware of anybody camping in the area and did not receive any reports from the area. Still freaks me out thinking what could have spooked these people so bad they left their tents, not even bothering to use the zipper and leaving their clothes and shoes behind.
This next one comes from a solo hike. I was doing a 3-day solo trip somewhere in Washington near the Canadian border. I was literally way out there no facilities or normal campground. I was just hiking along, and dusk was approaching, my campsite was already set but I just went for a stroll when I thought I heard a child’s voice calling for help. I thought it was my imagination, but I heard it again. I began to follow it and then I saw the child. He looked dirty; clothes still intact but his back was facing me. I called out to this kid, and he turned around but before he could speak, he was pulled by someone or something down on the other side of this hill. Then I heard a loud crash as if a metal down shut. I ran to where I saw the kid and saw nothing but the same clothes, he was wearing neatly folded and his shoes right next to them. After a few minutes to no avail, I made my way back to the campsite gathered all my things and headed back. I went to the forest ranger station and told them about what I saw. Never found out if they found that kid or not.
Now this story comes from my close friend in Oregon, but this happened in Washington. So, I was hanging out with my friend who has pretty much grew up in the outdoors all his life and I asked him what his most creepy experience in the woods was. He told me he didn’t have a lot of experiences like that aside from hearing weird things at night when he went camping. But, this one time he was out hiking with his dog, they usually are a pair for hiking with friends but this time he was out hiking with just his dog in the deep woods of Washington on a trail that had very little traffic, like you wouldn’t expect to run into anybody. So, his dog is off leash, roaming a little in front of him and as they come to a corner the dog just stopped and his hair stood on the back of his neck, did a single bark moved up one step and then just ran behind my friend, not behind his legs but down the trail behind my friend, about 25 yards behind him. My friend pulled out his firearm and aimed forward, considering this was an area where black bears are he thought maybe his dog saw a bear but after a few minutes he didn’t find anything, no animals, nothing. His dog refused to go near him even after he kept calling for his dog. He eventually left the trail with his dog and got back home in one piece. But he said he never saw his dog act like that, his dog and he have hiked plenty, and his dog has been spooked before, but he never acted that way and he would always come back to my friend even when spooked.
This last story I have for now occurred when I was hunting with my buddy in Washington. The area still had trees but was on the dryer side with us being closer to the desert.
We had a deer blind set up near a clearing and scanned the area for some deer when we noticed a big elk with a couple of doe. They were grazing and we just watched since we didn’t want this deer.
What was odd though was the weather began to get rainy and fog rolled in as evening was approaching. We noticed that the elk began to showcase defensive behavior, going back and forth making grunting noises and huffing as it began to set up a defensive area around the doe who were now cowering in a small area. Kind of like “Back up these are mine” This elk was staring at the tree line, and we thought, “oh shit maybe it’s a bear”. But to our surprise it wasn’t, it was another elk. We got a little excited thinking we were about to see these two elk go at it to see who gets to take the herd of doe home, but I stopped once I put it together. Why did the doe seem so afraid then?
Then I saw another elk and another and another all just staring at the protective elk.
But then to our shock all the elks began to stand. On two legs.
Now sometimes deer will do this as a protective or displaying behavior of superiority, but these elk were not.
The protective elk began to show more aggression attempting to scare them off.
My friend whispered to me. “What the hell is this, I’ve never seen this before in my life.”
My friend has been hunting for over 15 years from Alaska all the way to Colorado and parts in the East coast. A seasoned man who didn’t scare easily but I could tell this freaked him out.
The group of bipedal elk just stood there and then they all bolted towards the Elk and the elk charged them at the same time. Managing to impale two of the elks but he was outnumbered, and the elks didn’t use their antlers but began to bite the elk with what looked like jagged sharp fangs.
It was horrible. They then they circled the elk and just looked up to the moon and made these god-awful gurgling noises
It looked like some sort of F’d up ritual.
We decided that we should leave and began to grab our things to leave. I’m positive that we were too far for anyone to hear but I sweat as soon as we moved one of the deer stopped and looked right at us.
And that’s when we nopped out of there, we ran all the way to the truck hoping we didn’t run into those elks or whatever the hell those things were. I have seen deer display hostile behavior but never like that.
We were rushing to throw our stuff and sped out onto the dirt road. We got about 1/4 a mile away when we noticed a giant log blocking our path that wasn’t there before.
My friend said: “dammit we have to move it”
Luckily, we had a chainsaw in the back, and he cut some of the log away so we could move it. But God those logs were heavy, when we got to the last of the log my friend said, “help me move it!” I joined in, and we both lifted the last of the log out of the way out we noticed something on the road. It was one of those deer. Just standing looking at us. We backed up towards the truck my friend not even caring to grab the chainsaw and I swear it opened its mouth and said “hhe hhe-hel-help me moo-move iiiit”
It was distorted but sounded exactly like my friend.
We just ran to the truck from there and we hit the gas and this deer just ran towards the truck and hopped on the front and then the top of the truck and I’m just shitting bricks at this point and attempt to grab the shotgun from under the seat when my friend says “hang on” and just hits the brakes hard and this deer just goes flying off the truck and he quickly speeds around it .
We stayed at a hotel after driving 2 hours straight back to civilization.
Honestly, I believe deer just have some messed up ways, but I really don’t know what they were but I’m positive they weren’t deer, I don’t know what they were.
Part 2
I figured I’d mention this since I didn’t add it to my previous post.
These experiences I had forever changed my perspective on the woods and I questioned whether I should ever step foot in the woods again. I don’t know why I attract these experiences but part of it motivates me to keep going to share what I see.
This other story was a time I went out with a friend to explore. We were in the backcountry just exploring and I suddenly saw this weird structure. My friend decided we should check it out and we saw this stone-like structure covered in moss and it must have been there for decades. What was weird though it had this rectangular structure that had a door, the door was perfectly preserved as if someone just installed it. No rust on the door handle or any weather damage, it’s like it came fresh out of the store.
I went to get a closer look and I was about to try to open the door when my internal gut feeling was screaming to me that something was wrong and we should not be here, and extreme sense of fear flooded my entire being and my hair on the back of my neck stood up.
My friend told me “What’s wrong?”
I told him “Maybe we should just go”
And he said “we can’t just leave now let’s at least see what’s inside”
Just as I fought my fear off and went for the handle the door began to creak open and I felt something was just VERY wrong, and I think my friend just instinctively knew we had to run, and we just got the hell out of dodge.
We returned with more people and armed to the teeth to try the door again.
But we couldn’t find the structure anywhere despite me marking this area on my map before we even attempted the door.
I always wondered what would have happened had I opened that door….
This next one I was camping with my old roommate, and we were enjoying the night and headed to bed soon after our fire was put out.
Around 3 am I had to piss so I went to the tree at the edge of our campsite
I heard movement after I finished and thought it was my friend having to do the same as me. A few feet away I gave him the okay hand sign and he gave it back
But the way his fingers moved just looked …wrong
I thought maybe I was just tired and headed back to my tent.
The following morning, we made breakfast and I mentioned to him how I drank too much the night before and don’t like having to piss at night but at least I wasn’t the only one who had to go.
My friend looked confused by that last part and said “what do you mean only one? “
I told him: “you don’t remember? We went to pee at the same time.” Then I showed him the okay gesture that I gave him last night to jog his memory and he just told me: “dude I didn’t get up at all last night…”
A chill ran up my spine and I just played it off that I was dreaming.
I don’t know who or what that was last night, we never saw anybody out there and I checked around the campsite after breakfast for footprints, saw mine but nobody’s where I thought I saw my friend the night before.
This next one is like the previous one, but I was camping with my girlfriend at the time. We had a great night doing you know couple of things and then in the middle of the night I had to piss. Did my business at a nearby tree, and then I heard my girlfriend calling my name, in the woods. I figured she had to go to and just wanted to have some privacy. Maybe she needed toilet paper and forgot, as I went to the tent to grab a roll, I heard her call my name again then said help me.
I thought about going over to her but went to grab the roll anyway because I didn’t want to go out there then she tells me she needs the toilet paper. As I opened the tent, I just stood there surprised, my girlfriend was sound asleep still. So, who was calling my name?... I heard my name again but louder and my girlfriend's voice saying “COME HERE NOW”
I just decided to go in the tent, and just laid there silent, not sure what to do. I didn’t hear anything for the rest of the night and passed out after the surge of adrenaline just put me out.
I didn’t tell my girlfriend about it, and just told her we had to cut the trip short because I forgot I have a paper to write.
This Last one happened in 2019. I took a drive on a forest road about 45 mins in. Parked near this trailhead and took off to the trail.
I was admiring the flora and fauna and just going on a normal hike when I noticed my vision completely changed as if I was looking through prescription glasses that weren’t mine. The vegetation changed and it was daylight when I was hiking but now it was dark as if sunset just passed.
This happens almost instantly. It was like I was in a completely new environment.
I then felt something graze my shoulder, it was a hairy arm, like the one you’d see from an ape or Bigfoot, and it was about to grab me, but I managed to take a step back, and I just see the hand grab where my neck would have been. I felt this sudden sense of dread and just began to backpedal and after a couple of steps, my vision went back to normal. The sunlight returned as well as the flora and fauna. I just saw a fuzzy-like outline in a circular shape in front of me from where I just stepped out of, and it eventually disappeared the more steps back I took.
I just stood there completely shocked about what just happened and came to my senses as my internal red flags were going off and I just turned around and ran to my truck and got out of the area. I never had this happen to me before and it thankfully hasn’t happened since. Since this happened, I have never gone hiking alone again.
To end this off, I just want to add that I enjoy the woods and nature it is full of beauty and wonder. But there are things out there…things even the natives knew to stay away from. There are things out there, that don’t care about you, or that you have families, or loved ones. I still go out to the woods, but after that last experience, it took me a long time to get the courage to go out there again. I never go out for solo hikes anymore, and if I can’t go with someone, I always take my dog. Thanks for hearing my stories and I’ll be sure to share any future experiences I have.

I live in Oregon, but I do tend to travel on my off time in the wilderness, despite my run ins I love the forest, nature, and all I just tend to be much more careful now.
This first story takes place in my home state. I have a buddy who is a park ranger and he shared me a story of his own. He works at Crater Lake National Park and was patrolling one of the trails that was reported by hikers who said they heard a bear in the area. He went out with a tranquilizer to move the bear out of an area that was close to a campground. This next one I was camping with my old roommate, and we were enjoying the night and headed to bed soon after our fire was put out.
Around 3 am I had to piss so I went to the tree at the edge of our campsite
I heard movement after I finished and thought it was my friend having to do the same as me. A few feet away I gave him the okay hand sign and he gave it back
But the way his fingers moved just looked …wrong
I thought maybe I was just tired and headed back to my tent.
The following morning, we made breakfast and I mentioned to him how I drank too much the night before and don’t like having to piss at night but at least I wasn’t the only one who had to go.
My friend looked confused by that last part and said “what do you mean only one? “
I told him: “you don’t remember? We went to pee at the same time.” Then I showed him the okay gesture that I gave him last night to jog his memory and he just told me: “dude I didn’t get up at all last night…”
A chill ran up my spine and I just played it off that I was dreaming.
I don’t know who or what that was last night, we never saw anybody out there and I checked around the campsite after breakfast for footprints, saw mine but nobody’s where I thought I saw my friend the night before.
This next one is like the previous one, but I was camping with my girlfriend at the time. We had a great night doing you know couple of things and then in the middle of the night I had to piss. Did my business at a nearby tree, and then I heard my girlfriend calling my name, in the woods. I figured she had to go to and just wanted to have some privacy. Maybe she needed toilet paper and forgot, as I went to the tent to grab a roll, I heard her call my name again then said help me.
I thought about going over to her but went to grab the roll anyway because I didn’t want to go out there then she tells me she needs the toilet paper. As I opened the tent, I just stood there surprised, my girlfriend was sound asleep still. So, who was calling my name?... I heard my name again but louder and my girlfriend's voice saying “COME HERE NOW”
I just decided to go in the tent, and just laid there silent, not sure what to do. I didn’t hear anything for the rest of the night and passed out after the surge of adrenaline just put me out.
I didn’t tell my girlfriend about it, and just told her we had to cut the trip short because I forgot I have a paper to write.
This Last one happened in 2019. I took a drive on a forest road about 45 mins in. Parked near this trailhead and took off to the trail.
I was admiring the flora and fauna and just going on a normal hike when I noticed my vision completely changed as if I was looking through prescription glasses that weren’t mine. The vegetation changed and it was daylight when I was hiking but now it was dark as if sunset just passed.
This happens almost instantly. It was like I was in a completely new environment.
I then felt something graze my shoulder, it was a hairy arm, like the one you’d see from an ape or Bigfoot, and it was about to grab me, but I managed to take a step back, and I just see the hand grab where my neck would have been. I felt this sudden sense of dread and just began to backpedal and after a couple of steps, my vision went back to normal. The sunlight returned as well as the flora and fauna. I just saw a fuzzy-like outline in a circular shape in front of me from where I just stepped out of, and it eventually disappeared the more steps back I took.
I just stood there completely shocked about what just happened and came to my senses as my internal red flags were going off and I just turned around and ran to my truck and got out of the area. I never had this happen to me before and it thankfully hasn’t happened since. Since this happened, I have never gone hiking alone again.
To end this off, I just want to add that I enjoy the woods and nature it is full of beauty and wonder. But there are things out there…things even the natives knew to stay away from. There are things out there, that don’t care about you, or that you have families, or loved ones. I still go out to the woods, but after that last experience, it took me a long time to get the courage to go out there again. I never go out for solo hikes anymore, and if I can’t go with someone, I always take my dog. Thanks for hearing my stories and I’ll be sure to share any future experiences I have.

Over the past couple of months I've had a chicken korma in two different restaurants. Both times I've experience strong stomach pains with bloating after 4-5 hours lasting to the early hours. No sickness or diarrhoea.
Is this the sort of pain associated with lactose sensitivity? I've had plenty of kormas in the past but never had this problem before. Can a sensitivity get worse over time?
I had already been minimising lactose and switched to lactose free milk/cream which has reduced gas and bloating.

I have to come here with this because there’s nowhere else to go. I haven’t mentioned what happened today to anyone – I don’t know if I ever will. I know it happened. But if I say it to the people in my world, I’m not sure they’ll hear it well. They may nod and hum and if they do, I may retreat and convince myself that it was just my imagination.
There is immense power in grief and grief can be very manipulating. I’ve learned that lesson hard and I’m nobody’s fool. And all this time, I’ve been working to figure out what is, and what isn’t real. For you see, there are very many moments which remain mysterious to me since losing Suzanne. All the while, I’ve never stopped feeling that she was still with me somehow.
To this day, I quietly defer to her when I have to make a choice. I don’t think that’s altogether unusual and I’ve often spoken of her spirit here, for what that means to me. To me, her spirit is everything I ever knew of her; an understanding of what she might say. I will always depend on that.

Maybe I shouldn’t share this… I dunno.
When I went to pick PJ up today, I was driving the usual route along a fairly major road near here. It’s sort of residential, but it’s busy, with two lanes in either direction. I had a truck pull out in front of me and I needed to break for him. I’m not generally bothered by that sort of thing – people misjudge – it’s all good. The truck quickly and perhaps politely moved into the left lane as we went along. For a time we were traveling roughly the same speed together. Ahead of us was a major intersection where my only concern in the moment was that it was a long light and that it was currently green. I wanted it to stay green and so hit the gas a bit. So too did the truck beside me, and I remember looking over at the sticker on the tailgate, it was a “SeaBees” decal.
I can’t explain what happened and I won’t say it’s real. All I know is what I know. I felt a very distinct shove on my shoulder and I heard “Mack!” It caused my vision to snap forward and I saw a little boy; he was riding bicycles with his mom, his dad (I assume) and his sister, on the sidewalk, but for whatever reason, the boy swerved out into the road and I had a nanosecond to react. When I did, I made sure that I didn’t simply avoid him; I stopped dead, so that anyone behind me would too. It was so fucking close – it scared me to Jesus.
Moments later, when PJ got in the car, he would be typically PJ – rambling on about his day but I didn’t react to him, which he immediately noted. “What’s wrong?” He asked.
I told him that I almost hit a little boy and suddenly I was scolding him about the dangers of the world. PJ is rather good at assessing situations and he knew I was rattled. So he consoled me with the promise that he would be more careful.
I sit here now, with hours past to settle it all and I shrug and I say, “I don’t know.” Did the drama of the moment invent my experience? Maybe. I don’t know. Probably. The one thing that gets me most is that when I heard my name, it was, without question, her voice.
The mind is incredibly complicated and capable of amazing things. But then, so is the soul.

I have had on/off driving anxiety ever since I got my license many years ago. My parents both have history of severe anxiety/depression issues that have been passed to me and have the tendency to be VERY risk-averse and overprotective (they are Asian), but I would not say they are overbearing-they allowed me to live far from home and be relatively independent in some ways.
It took me four attempts to pass my driving test and I know my main reason was I was anxious and rushing to take the exam without working through my anxiety and fears, and the examiners only compounded that. Before my exams when I had my permit, I felt my dad seemed somewhat encouraging, his practice was to drive me to areas where are there long ongoing roads. The practice was not bad first few times, but I think it was just literally driving straight for an hour or two (no turns, no actually getting used to parking or whatever). After I failed my tests, my dad let me drive for practice, even let me drive on highways though I know he felt hesitant. I even got used to the route since I did it every Saturday four-five weekends in a row. We got a new car that primarily became the car I'd drive and I felt like my dad's attitude in a nutshell was was partially supportive but partially hesitant.
The first time I decided I'd drive alone was a few months after I got my license and to just a local bus stop. My dad followed me the whole ride even though I insisted I wanted to do it alone.
After that, he slowly let me drive to school which was 40 mins away. However, he refused to let me drive on the interstate because I needed more practice (even though I drove those four-five weekend routes).
I started slowly becoming more confident, took my car to campus. However, I never drove on the freeway. Even though I could disobey my dad and take my car on the freeway, I felt worried about making a mistake and my dad getting mad at me for not listening.
My mom doesn't live in the same state as my dad and I had to drive locally when visiting her because I was taking a community college course. I started driving there too and with her we even made a long road trip on the freeway where I drove 8-9 hours. When I told my dad, he was proud of me and felt that is the way to build confidence. I drove my dad too twice through VERY busy new york city freeways to prove I could drive. I could tell he was nervous and squirming in his seat the whole time but told me later that I am a good driver and that he is just nervous. However, he still did not let me drive alone on freeways despite these things.
Unfortunately, I let my driving anxiety get the best of me and stopped driving all together for a year. I had to start driving again for work purposes and drove familiar routes. When I started feeling comfortable again, I told my dad there is an event going on where I may need to use the freeway and he was like "you don't have to go there if you are not required". He did not feel comfortable with me going on the freeway after my hiatus.
After all of this, again driving anxiety got the best of me. I once drove and made a mistake and slightly bumped into a car when reversing. No damage, but the emotional toll of it made me stop driving completely for 5+ years. I was comfortable not using a car at all.
Then one random day, my dad was like "how about you drive" when we were driving together. I was like no I don't want to but we did. I was uncomfortable but somehow he believed in me.
When the pandemic happened, I realized I need to learn to drive again. By this point, I am in my late twenties and obv don't need my parents permission, but I notice I sometimes I am looking for reassurance. I have had many times in life where people don't believe in me and somebody telling me they believe in me is all I need to feel confident.
My dad said he believes I can certainly drive and even on freeways now after some practice. The first few drives after my hiatus were uncomfortable and it felt like I was a rookie all over again. I also flat out refused to drive sometimes on the freeway, even when my dad was encouraging I do so. However, I got over that and started driving on the freeways too, even driving as far as 3-5 hours in NYC freeways as well.
The thing is, even though my dad has sometimes been encouraging and said "you drive better than most people I know", he still makes a lot of critiques and comments. He also goes overboard to make sure I am "safe". For example, we went to a local farm and we were reversing from the area. It was not tight and there were people and families, but it was like your typical parking lot. He felt anxious that there were so many families and kids, he jumped out of the car and started to guide me out. I felt really bad because I wondered what if I drove here alone, would I even be able to do this by myself? When I went home I told him that and this is crippling my confidence in myself but he felt that it was the right thing to do.
There are times where he has impulsively pushed the steering wheel saying I am too close when I do not think I was that made my driving even more distracting. Thankfully he does not do that anymore. He always makes comments about my lane changing technique saying that I should leave the indicator on "for a longer time" before changing lanes. The thing is, I feel by this point I have gotten the signal, lane change, over the shoulder go technique relatively well (he doesn't look over the shoulder). I do not like leaving the indicator on too long as I think that confuses people or even turn it off and wait. I appreciate his feedback sometimes, but sometimes it can be more confusing for me. I took a refresher course recently and the instructor taught me to drive a little more aggressively than my dad does (it was in a city)-my dad is adament on "slowing down" too much sometimes and he even suggests alternate routes than the GPS says to avoid "certain routes" that may be "trickier". At first, my dad was telling me to sell my car to him as he is fine with driving with cosmetic damage and buy a whole new car to avoid insurance and my rates going up. I cried so hard because it was literally the craziest response I've heard-I had no willpower to go through the buying process again. However, he later said "sometimes I just say things, you don't have to get upset" and we agreed getting the car fixed is the better idea.
Some months later, my car is fixed and now I am slowly starting to drive again. I feel like the thing with my confidence is-some days I feel confident and do want to drive. When I ask my dad about possibly driving alone to a place where there might be more traffic, he's like "well how about you drive with me first, you do not have to push yourself". He keeps saying he doesn't want to push me, which means that he doesn't want me to try to get out of my comfort zone. I have discussed this with a therapist and she said she feels my parents "guard" me quite a bit.
I feel bad for complaining because I am close to my parents and they've let me do a lot more than their own siblings have let their kids too, but I have vented and gotten upset by their behaviors. I feel like the issue is that everytime I express a little anxiety, my parents take it to another level. I don't know what to do. The more my parents baby me sometimes, the more my anxiety and hesitation flares up but sometimes I don't know if I even blame them as parents. Maybe if I were in their shoes, I'd do the same.....I just don't know how to help myself get over this.

It took me four attempts to pass my driving test and I know my main reason was I was anxious and rushing to take the exam without working through my anxiety and fears, and the examiners only compounded that. Before my exams when I had my permit, I felt my dad seemed somewhat encouraging, his practice was to drive me to areas where are there long ongoing roads. The practice was not bad first few times, but I think it was just literally driving straight for an hour or two (no turns, no actually getting used to parking or whatever). After I failed my tests, my dad let me drive for practice, even let me drive on highways though I know he felt hesitant. I even got used to the route since I did it every Saturday four-five weekends in a row. We got a new car that primarily became the car I'd drive and I felt like my dad's attitude in a nutshell was was partially supportive but partially hesitant.
The first time I decided I'd drive alone was a few months after I got my license and to just a local bus stop. My dad followed me the whole ride even though I insisted I wanted to do it alone.
After that, he slowly let me drive to school which was 40 mins away. However, he refused to let me drive on the interstate because I needed more practice (even though I drove those four-five weekend routes).
I started slowly becoming more confident, took my car to campus. However, I never drove on the freeway. Even though I could disobey my dad and take my car on the freeway, I felt worried about making a mistake and my dad getting mad at me for not listening.
My mom doesn't live in the same state as my dad and I had to drive locally when visiting her because I was taking a community college course. I started driving there too and with her we even made a long road trip on the freeway where I drove 8-9 hours. When I told my dad, he was proud of me and felt that is the way to build confidence. I drove my dad too twice through VERY busy new york city freeways to prove I could drive. I could tell he was nervous and squirming in his seat the whole time but told me later that I am a good driver and that he is just nervous. However, he still did not let me drive alone on freeways despite these things.
Unfortunately, I let my driving anxiety get the best of me and stopped driving all together for a year. I had to start driving again for work purposes and drove familiar routes. When I started feeling comfortable again, I told my dad there is an event going on where I may need to use the freeway and he was like "you don't have to go there if you are not required". He did not feel comfortable with me going on the freeway after my hiatus.
After all of this, again driving anxiety got the best of me. I once drove and made a mistake and slightly bumped into a car when reversing. No damage, but the emotional toll of it made me stop driving completely for 5+ years. I was comfortable not using a car at all.
Then one random day, my dad was like "how about you drive" when we were driving together. I was like no I don't want to but we did. I was uncomfortable but somehow he believed in me.
When the pandemic happened, I realized I need to learn to drive again. By this point, I am in my late twenties and obv don't need my parents permission, but I notice I sometimes I am looking for reassurance. I have had many times in life where people don't believe in me and somebody telling me they believe in me is all I need to feel confident.
My dad said he believes I can certainly drive and even on freeways now after some practice. The first few drives after my hiatus were uncomfortable and it felt like I was a rookie all over again. I also flat out refused to drive sometimes on the freeway, even when my dad was encouraging I do so. However, I got over that and started driving on the freeways too, even driving as far as 3-5 hours in NYC freeways as well.
The thing is, even though my dad has sometimes been encouraging and said "you drive better than most people I know", he still makes a lot of critiques and comments. He also goes overboard to make sure I am "safe". For example, we went to a local farm and we were reversing from the area. It was not tight and there were people and families, but it was like your typical parking lot. He felt anxious that there were so many families and kids, he jumped out of the car and started to guide me out. I felt really bad because I wondered what if I drove here alone, would I even be able to do this by myself? When I went home I told him that and this is crippling my confidence in myself but he felt that it was the right thing to do.
There are times where he has impulsively pushed the steering wheel saying I am too close when I do not think I was that made my driving even more distracting. Thankfully he does not do that anymore. He always makes comments about my lane changing technique saying that I should leave the indicator on "for a longer time" before changing lanes. The thing is, I feel by this point I have gotten the signal, lane change, over the shoulder go technique relatively well (he doesn't look over the shoulder). I do not like leaving the indicator on too long as I think that confuses people or even turn it off and wait. I appreciate his feedback sometimes, but sometimes it can be more confusing for me. I took a refresher course recently and the instructor taught me to drive a little more aggressively than my dad does (it was in a city)-my dad is adament on "slowing down" too much sometimes and he even suggests alternate routes than the GPS says to avoid "certain routes" that may be "trickier". I have had a very big crush on one of my friends for the past while but didn’t say anything because hes way out of my league but Wednesday afternoon, the sky opened up and the sun shined bright as if to say “my child your time has finally come” and my phone buzzed. I looked down and there it was, a notification from him that read:
“Hey are you busy right now?”
“no, why?”🤭
“Can I call you?”
“sure” (Forever and always)
So he called and asked if I wanted to go to a restaurant which was known as one of those “book weeks in advance” restaurants but one of his friends works there and told him about a cancellation so he took it and said he remembered me talking about wanting to try the food and asked if I wanted to go with him Friday (tonight). I swear you could hear my heart beating out of my chest, but I stayed calm and said yes.
So onto tonight around 4 I get a text saying he was in front of my apartment building. I got into the elevator and you’d think I woke up and injected caffeine straight into my veins with the way I was shaking, but I made sure to breathe because he was going out with me not a Victorian child that just chugged a monster energy drink. I walked out to him and he smiled and said I looked pretty 🫶 but he would soon regret those words. We got into his car and drove off. Now keep in mind that the restaurant is roughly 1 hour away from my place
So we get there and get seated and the server brings us waters and menus. He only had a water because he drove (so responsible🦋), but I had a mojito to just ease my nerves and it worked because the conversation between us flowed just like any other time we hung out. I was having a great time.
As we were finishing up our food the server asked about dessert and I’m always down for something sweet so we took the dessert menus. But it was then I started to feel something was not right in my stomach. I looked at him and said nothing on the dessert menu looked good and he agreed so he paid and we left to his car.
I know I could have excused myself to the bathroom but the thing is I was only feeling a little tingle of nausea and thought I’d be fine. I also didnt want to tell him I wasn’t feeling well and ruin the vibe
About 15 minutes into the drive I’m still trying to be all cute in the passenger seat talking to him because something you don’t do on the first date is vomit all over their car. And then he smiles and says
“I have an idea”
No. No you don’t, take me home.
“Let’s get slurpees there’s a gas station about 15 minutes away”
Not in the direction of my apartment of course. I said no it’s ok but he insisted and this has officially become a hostage situation because I cannot escape the car.
We get to the gas station and I say we should share but he says no and I get the smallest one and we sit outside drinking them. I take a few sips and say I’m all done but I do have a history of disordered eating (orthorexia) and he knows so he tried to be kind and encouraged me drink at least half of it and told me I was beautiful. Thanks man but I’m ready to throw you off a bridge
Once we finish the detour from hell we’re finally heading back to my place. I have no idea how, but I make it home and then he PARKS THE CAR. I ask what he’s doing and he says
“I’m walking you up to your apartment”

We walk into the elevator and I live pretty high up so we had some time in there. He slowly puts his arm around my waist and you know what doesn’t go well with the situation in my stomach? Butterflies.
In that moment I was the most religious woman on the planet with the way I prayed and vowed to never do anything bad ever again if I make it into my apartment without my dinner making a surprise appearance. Finally the elevator opens and he walks me to my door, I unlock it and turn around to say bye and he smiles then kisses me.
The second he pulled away my prayers meant nothing. I threw up all over him and my guy has a beard 😭 so it was in there.
Now the right thing to do would be:
“Oh I’m so sorry please come into my apartment and clean yourself off”
But I did a modified version which was slam the door in his face, block his number, then sit in my bathroom and cry because in this house we overreact and make situations worse.
So now here I am laying on the bathroom floor sweating, throwing up, and crying. Can’t even gather the strength to get myself some damn water💀

So he called and asked if I wanted to go to a restaurant which was known as one of those “book weeks in advance” restaurants but one of his friends works there and told him about a cancellation so he took it and said he remembered me talking about wanting to try the food and asked if I wanted to go with him Friday (tonight). I swear you could hear my heart beating out of my chest, but I stayed calm and said yes.
So onto tonight around 4 I get a text saying he was in front of my apartment building. I got into the elevator and you’d think I woke up and injected caffeine straight into my veins with the way I was shaking, but I made sure to breathe because he was going out with me not a Victorian child that just chugged a monster energy drink. I walked out to him and he smiled and said I looked pretty 🫶 but he would soon regret those words. We got into his car and drove off. Now keep in mind that the restaurant is roughly 1 hour away from my place
So we get there and get seated and the server brings us waters and menus. He only had a water because he drove (so responsible🦋), but I had a mojito to just ease my nerves and it worked because the conversation between us flowed just like any other time we hung out. I was having a great time.
As we were finishing up our food the server asked about dessert and I’m always down for something sweet so we took the dessert menus. But it was then I started to feel something was not right in my stomach. I looked at him and said nothing on the dessert menu looked good and he agreed so he paid and we left to his car.
I know I could have excused myself to the bathroom but the thing is I was only feeling a little tingle of nausea and thought I’d be fine. I also didnt want to tell him I wasn’t feeling well and ruin the vibe
About 15 minutes into the drive I’m still trying to be all cute in the passenger seat talking to him because something you don’t do on the first date is vomit all over their car. And then he smiles and says
“I have an idea”
No. No you don’t, take me home.
“Let’s get slurpees there’s a gas station about 15 minutes away”
Not in the direction of my apartment of course. I said no it’s ok but he insisted and this has officially become a hostage situation because I cannot escape the car.
We get to the gas station and I say we should share but he says no and I get the smallest one and we sit outside drinking them. I take a few sips and say I’m all done but I do have a history of disordered eating (orthorexia) and he knows so he tried to be kind and encouraged me drink at least half of it and told me I was beautiful. Thanks man but I’m ready to throw you off a bridge

Hello everyone, I just want to preface this by saying I am a little emotional right now...
To make a very very long story short, around a year ago my brother started to show symptoms of psychosis. It got to the point where he was convinced that our uncle was some sort of God of Destruction and my brother was convinced he had to kill him in order to save the world. After hearing that (despite ignoring a lot of the previous warning signs which is 100% on me) I took him to a psych ward to get help. When we were there, he initially agreed to get help but before we were admitted he calling himself an uber. I told him that I did not take him there against his will and he did not have to call and uber and that if he wanted to leave we could just go right now. He agreed and we left but during the car ride home, he became very aggressive. Telling me how he is now a God and that he could kill me right now, etc... I am usually (not anymore. if i am being honest he has killed every patient bone in my body and i am almost always irritatible) a very patient person. So I let him go on his rant until we reached home. I told him that I wanted to talk to him in my room and he agreed. We were in there and he was explaining to me how he was God and he put himself on earth in order to save the world, etc... I told him that it was actually me that was trying to help him get his life back together (worth noting that this bout of psychosis happened right before he was supposed to graduate college and ended up failing all his classes. turns out when he was going to class he would just sit in the back of the room and yell shit like "I AM GOD" to the class or play very loud Buddhist/Hindu chats until he got kicked out of every single one of his classes). After I told him this, I saw a sort of evil look in his eye and he got out and walked out of my room. This was around 4AM and I was exhausted but I knew from the look he gave me that this wasn't over. Around 5 minutes later he barges back into my room and just punches me in the face as hard as he can. Since the bout of psychosis my brother has not been eating at all or working out etc so I instantly recovered from the punch and took him down and held him down in a headlock. (I still sometimes fear what if he was stronger than me, would he have stopped after the initial punch? or what if the punch was strong enough to knock me out, I was standing over my desk and had I gotten knocked out I would have surely fell and cracked my head. I know none of this was his fault but it still is something that I have to contemplate going forward)
Eventually he calmed down and apologized and he told me that he was taking an UNGODLY amount of shrooms. He showed me the doses he was taking and it was almost 10-15x the normal dosage. He told me that he never thought he would hurt someone but him hurting his own brother broke him. He cried and tried to apologize to me every day. I would not have it because of pure anger. I could not believe that I spent every minute of the last almost year trying to help this guy and the first thing he did when he got mad was attack me. However, I eventually accepted his apology on the terms that he would never take shrooms again and he agreed.
After that my brother was fine for almost a year. He went back to school and changed his major (out of shame of having to retake the classes where he made a fool of himself). He got an internship at a pretty good accounting firm etc... All was well for a while. However, during the start of May I went on a trip to turkey for 2 weeks and when I came back my brother was the same. I did not know anything of it because my parents did not want to stress me out during my vacation but when I came back he was even worse than before. This time he is being much more aggressive. When things do not go his way he starts to smash things etc... and honestly... as fucked up as it sounds I am tired of dealing with this. He has become an insane financial burden to me and my family. We already struggle as is (we live on section-8 housing etc...) and this guy regularly breaks things. We found out that he went to the bank and gave away ALL his money because it's "God's job to help people". Turns out he failed all his classes again, etc... However, I figured we could weather the financial burden but recently his behavior has gotten more erratic. I won't go into too many details but literally just 30 minutes ago my brother was sitting downstairs going on his usual rant about how he's God and can control the elements or something but then he stepped outside for a second. This is nothing unusual as he usually goes on these walks to calm himself and comes back in a much better mood but before he steps out he tells me that he's going to the neighbors house.
Keep in mind that we do not have ANY relations with our neighbor and they are total strangers to us. And when he means "going" to their house he literally meant breaking into their house because he "wanted to talk" to them. I tried to reason him out of it but he just kept walking towards their house until he reached their porch and I literally grabbed him and threw him on the ground. I asked him what he thought he was doing and he claimed he was "going to see his children". I told him that I will NOT let him go into these peoples house (and honestly this is out of FEAR for my brothers safety. I mentioned we live in a not so good area. If my neighbor saw my brother trying to even walk into his house he would literally stomp my brothers face in and this is not an exaggeration. He is a very over protective guy from Afghanistan and he would not take kindly to some stranger trying to break into his house with his 4 daughters there). I brought my brother back inside and he tells me that "you stopped me this time but will you be around everytime?" and I don't know if I should take this as a threat or what?
Honestly, at this point I am completely fed up with this guys behavior. He has been an insane financial burden to my family to the point where my 70 year old dad who is sick with a very serious heart condition has started doing Uber and working at a gas station to help pay for all the nonsense he gets himself in. I work and chip in as much as I can but I can only make so much money and I cannot alone support my entire family. In addition to that he has on multiple occasion put my little siblings lives at risk, has threatened to attack people, etc... At what point can I draw the line? I have tried to get him medical attention on MULTIPLE occasions and it never works either 1) the doctor makes us wait 5 hours and my brother gets fed up and leaves 2) the doctor comes and my brother can act normal for 15 minutes and the doctor doesn't take us serious 3) the doctor prescribes us medicine that my brother does not take 4) the doctor is just unhelpful from the start. and 5) we can't afford a fucking real doctor
I am literally at a loss for what to do. Every night I worry for my siblings and parents. I wonder if this guy is going to go into their room and hurt them (worth nothing that on multiple (I'm talking at least 30 or 40 times) I have woken up at 4 or 5AM to my brother in my room just sitting on the floor staring at me). Note that the stories I have told do not even begin to scratch the surface of this guys lunacy and aggressiveness. I am going to assume that my opinion will not be well received here but I do not know how much longer I can coddle a 25 year old man. I have a life of my own and it has been halted for the past 2 years because of him. I think it's unfair that there are people who struggle with psychosis naturally and this guy despite having everything given to him on a silver fucking spoon STILL finds a way to ruin his life by constantly taking drugs and self inducing psychosis.

If my neighbor saw my brother trying to even walk into his house he would literally stomp my brothers face in and this is not an exaggeration. He is a very over protective guy from Afghanistan and he would not take kindly to some stranger trying to break into his house with his 4 daughters there). I brought my brother back inside and he tells me that "you stopped me this time but will you be around everytime?" and I don't know if I should take this as a threat or what?
Honestly, at this point I am completely fed up with this guys behavior. He has been an insane financial burden to my family to the point where my 70 year old dad who is sick with a very serious heart condition has started doing Uber and working at a gas station to help pay for all the nonsense he gets himself in. I work and chip in as much as I can but I can only make so much money and I cannot alone support my entire family. In addition to that he has on multiple occasion put my little siblings lives at risk, has threatened to attack people, etc... At what point can I draw the line? I have tried to get him medical attention on MULTIPLE occasions and it never works either 1) the doctor makes us wait 5 hours and my brother gets fed up and leaves 2) the doctor comes and my brother can act normal for 15 minutes and the doctor doesn't take us serious 3) the doctor prescribes us medicine that my brother does not take 4) the doctor is just unhelpful from the start. and 5) we can't afford a fucking real doctor
I am literally at a loss for what to do. Every night I worry for my siblings and parents. I wonder if this guy is going to go into their room and hurt them (worth nothing that on multiple (I'm talking at least 30 or 40 times) I have woken up at 4 or 5AM to my brother in my room just sitting on the floor staring at me). Note that the stories I have told do not even begin to scratch the surface of this guys lunacy and aggressiveness. I am going to assume that my opinion will not be well received here but I do not know how much longer I can coddle a 25 year old man. I have a life of my own and it has been halted for the past 2 years because of him. I think it's unfair that there are people who struggle with psychosis naturally and this guy despite having everything given to him on a silver fucking spoon STILL finds a way to ruin his life by constantly taking drugs and self inducing psychosis.

122F am trying to help my brother 24M get out of his living arrangement. Right now, he is living with our mom's friend. My mom (C) and her friend (D) are both mentally ill, our mom has some sort of undiagnosed schizophrenia, mixed with some characteristics of narcissistic personality disorder. D however, is self-medicating her bipolar disorder. I ended up in foster care when I was 14 and aged out. However, my brother slipped through the cracks. He never went to kindergarten, elementary, middle school, forget collage. I didn't either until I went into foster care and was thrown into high school. He never had a chance. My mom dropped him off at D's once I went into foster care and is struggling to get out. He has no drivers license, she refuses to help him with anything. While he was there for the first year or so, he was able to save up 10k and was ready to move into an apartment. But then she quit her job (reasons are unclear), and my bother ended up being the only one paying her mortgage, groceries, utilities, etc. He was working at a Family Dollar and a gas station, even considering getting another job to pay for everything. A year later, he's now with only 2k in savings. She refuses to help him get his drivers license and eye glasses. I refuse to see D and C at all costs. So, I plan on teaching him how to drive in secret. D knows his work hours and everything, so this will be a challenge. I'm not sure if there is anything the authorities can do. Any advice? I know... it's a lot.
