Neo sticks are leaking black smelly fluid after couple months of use. Is this normal?
I couldn't handle the smell of this black tar, and decided to clean it. Included brush doesn't do the job at all, so i used around 30 Q-tips to get most of the gunk out, still didn't clean it all the way since this substance was glued to the inside of device.
Anyway, few sticks later more black tar accumulated (seen in photo). As device is heating up, you can hear crackling sound inside where this liquid is simply melting on the inside-outside of the stick itself.
I didn't have this issue in the beginning, does anyone deal with the same problem? Or it's normal for Glo?

2023.06.04 06:26 CaptTechno Samsung Galaxy S23 or Pixel 7?

I've been using my Poco F1 for 5 years. Best phone I've ever used. Amazing Battery, Camera, Custom Rom Development and Durability(I didn't have tempered glass and dropped it twice a day every day).
It finally died on me today. Now Im looking at all the phones in the market and everything sucks bro. Literally, all the phones are either flooded with bloatware, I hate any skinned Android (I've been on stock for the past 4 years) and they all seem to have no custom rom development at all.
My priorities are 1. Camera 2. Software (Or Custom Roms) and 3. Performance (Just regular 4-5 app multitasking, I don't game.) in that order.
My maximum budget is 60k. The optimal budget is 50k.
I was considering the iPhone 14 (Great Camera And Build) but I realized how much I've grown accustomed to the freedom of an Android, that I wouldn't be able to tolerate iOS.
The two phones Iv shortened down to are 1. Samsung Galaxy S23 and 2. Pixel 7.
These 2 have their caveats too,
The Pixel 7 aftersale and after-warranty service is concerning. The pixel also has heating problems, slow battery charging, is not the most powerful and has fingerprint issues.
The S23 battery charges slowly, it's more expensive (like 7k more) and I've heard Samsung phones deteriorate quickly.
If you have other suggestions or feedback on why which would be better, that would help a lot. Thanks.

2023.06.04 06:17 Derrickmb Independent computer modeling

Hi all,
I’m a chemical engineer very interested in making more impact than I already am (I’m stamping engineer on a EV battery factory which is about as good as I can do as an individual). Would like to get some commercial or private equity loans to buy land and hire my A&E firm or others to build a massive amount of solar in the US and abroad. If anyone knows who to talk to reach out to me. Thanks.
I realize we cannot turn down fossil fuels until we have enough solar and batteries. We are so close to the potential making a huge difference. I feel like the reasons we are not seeing progress we need is because old rich adverse to make the changes in rapid time.
I think sometimes people don’t understand the severity of the problem. The models are questioned too much seeding doubt.
What I would like to do it attempt to mathematically model basic heat transfer from the sun by latitude and add in atmospheric, land, and ocean temp gradients by latitude and seasonal day, and wavelength spectrum absorption of CO2 and greenhouse gases, and do a fairly basic (applying all coursework involved) calculation using a finite node method with a global mesh to get some rough idea of what will happen exactly as the ice melts at the caps.
Are there any resources to search for graduate thesis papers who have already done this? I’ve seen some ppm rates by Shell from the 70s. But where is the study of timelines? Seems like they are all wrong and too slow and I want to know how fast this is coming. Thank you.
Also if you have experience with setting up this kind of thing on a 3D gimbal interface please DM me. Also need help with the mesh calculations. The matrices and linear algebra get into coding and that’s a whole other special interest I would need to learn.

2023.06.04 05:39 cutlass484 Rigid String Trimmer Runtime/Overheating

What is your experience with the new string trimmer?
I have used both the 6ah Octane and Maxoutput batteries. I can get 15 min or so before the trimmer shuts down/over heats. If I wait a couple minutes it'll start it back up and run for another 2 to 3 minutes before over heating and shutting down. I'm having to use my Ridgid jobsite blower to blow air in the vents to speed up the cold down time.
I use the lowest setting and try not to press the trigger all the way down.
I left a negative review on the HD website. Ridgid responded and told me to email them. They sent me a replacement and I'm still having the same issue.
I'm considering the ryobi 40volt trimmers with a 72 minute runtime but I am a loyal Ridgid customer and have lots of batteries.
I'll probably just have to deal with it. But I do love this trimmer. It's definitely powerful.
Side note: I saw a video with a guy that modded his ryobi trimmer. He purchased another fan blade (the same one that is installed in the trimmer) and attached it to the existing fan blade so that it blows air in another direction towards the controller and he is able to sustain long run times until his battery is drained.

2023.06.04 03:28 literaldehyde I have four rechargeable 1.2v Eneloop AAA batteries with a four-battery charger, but a headlamp that only uses 3. When it begins to dim, can I swap one of the batteries with a fresh one from the charger or will mixing charge levels be detrimental to the device or batteries?

So that I can extend the usage time of the headlamp while one of the batteries charges, rinse and repeat.
The headlamp has the three batteries in parallel, and right now I have no use for the fourth battery, so I've just put an "x" on it in sharpie to designate it as the one that I don't use.
And yeah I know I'm a cheapass for not shelling out $12 for a backup pack of eneloops, but idc.

2023.06.04 03:27 Due_Total_4516 I'm legally blind and I need a burner phone with decent night vision.

I'm legally blind, with the main issues being small texts and low-light conditions. I don't use a cane and in daytime, my vision is pretty much normal. But at night, I am basically 100% blind. One trick I use is view the world through my smartphone camera. The camera displays an image that that is bright enough for me to see normally, and I use that to read menus in dark restaurants or walk around at night (I just hold the phone up and look through it as I walk).
I currently use an iPhone Pro, but I want a backup phone to keep in my purse in case the iPhone gets stolen/runs out of battery/glitches/etc. Another iPhone seems too expensive for this niche case. Any suggestions on a cheaper phone that has a good and quick nighttime camera? Is a Pixel (the 300$ cheaper one) too overkill?
For context since you don't know what I "see," looking through the iPhone camera turned at full brightness is enough to help me navigate clubs and city streets at night. It isn't enough to help me navigate hiking in the woods without a flashlight.

2023.06.04 03:15 T0t4l_Kn0b Battery issues with Darkest dungeon 1

Hi all. I’m running the baseline 16” M2 MacBook Pro. I’ve been using wine to run two different pc games through steam - binding of Isaac repentance and darkest dungeon. I have absolutely no performance or battery issues running binding of Isaac. However, running darkest dungeon, my computer heats up a lot and drains the battery quite quickly. I get probably about 3-4 hours from full to empty with it. Please help!!

2023.06.04 03:11 Thartek Guys, I need some decision help...

Guys, I need some decision help...
I've been diving through specs and reviews and I think I want to buy an Xperia phone... If I could have found a US-legit 1 IV for under $1000, I'd probably have already bought it... But here's the situation:
  1. I'm leaving for my honeymoon in Fiji and New Zealand at the end of the month and really want to have a good camera on my phone. Optical zoom is a biiiig draw!
  2. I'm not a content creator; I'm just taking pics of my dog, selfies with my spouse, and occasional videos at concerts and games.
  3. I currently have a Galaxy S9 in a deteriorating otterbox with a ... still-usable-but-definitely-deteriorated battery. I just keep a battery bank with me if I'm going to be away from a charger.
  4. I like to keep phones 3+ years (see #3. I got 4 years!)
  5. I currently have 110 GB of music/photos/videos on my S9: I need a MicroSD card slot. I'd be too stressed for a phone with only 256 GB of internal space (A 512GB phone miiiight work, but I'll be a bit stressed about data backups).
  6. Having Wifi 6e on my phone will be important in my work responsibilities over the next 3+ years.
The only phone options with 6e and a MicroSD card reader are the 5 IV, the 1 IV, the Asus Zenphone 8 Flip (that no longer receives OS upgrades), and the wish-I-could-acquire-it-right-now 1 V...
Do I pull the trigger on the 5 IV now (more realistically) or the 1 IV (less realistic due to buyer's remorse in a month)? (Are the heat issues mostly resolved at this point with the US updates?) Do I just keep my S9 for the trip and get the 1 V when I get back? Should I suck it up and deal with only on-phone storage and go for something like the Pixel 7 Pro or Galaxy S22/3 Ultra with 512 GB? The 5 IV, the Pixel, and the S22 all end up around the $1000 mark.
What do you guys think?
Thank you! Here's your #dogtax

2023.06.04 02:38 Dormanu_uwu I buid a pc a year ago and problems have started to appeared

idk really know much about troubleshooting and how to fix it, i just know how to build the pc and install win. (excuse the broken english, i hope is understandable)
the problems are kinda wierd and never happend on my pc or any other that i have buid first the problems started with a regulator that was making a lot of noise and the computer turn off. so we stop using it and the pc turn on just fine.
then, almost 3 months later the pc turn on but with no signal, plus mouse and keyboard off too, fans and heat sink were on. i tried unplugging all and back again. but didnt work, restarting the pc did nothing too. what work was removing the cmos battery and put it again 1 min later and that was it, the pc started jsut fine.
lastly, 4 days ago the pc freeze and mouse and keyboard turn off again while playing league. my friend restart the pc and that seems like resolve the problem. but again today happend the same thing with no signal and no peripherals turn on.
so, my take is that probably the psu suffer from some kind of overvoltage thanks to the regulator and is not working properly. the other think that comes to mind is maybe the windows is failing and hopefully a new install solves the problem.
do you guys know any solution?

2023.06.04 02:17 OnetimeRocket13 When my car disconnects from the battery, my AC has trouble staying cool. What is going on and how do I fix it?

I've had this issue ever since I got my car a few years ago. I drive a 2000 Ford Taurus SE. When I first got the car, the battery was already pretty old, so it eventually started running out of juice and would require me to jumpstart it until I could get around to getting a new one. Several times when I would jumpstart the car, the AC would reset to 75 degrees with the fans turned all the way down. Most of the time, this would also cause the AC to just not work unless I was trying to heat my car.
Right now, I am having more issues with my battery that I just haven't gotten around to fixing (I have shitty terminals that really need replacing, so every so often the connection will be bad and I'll have to deal with a temp solution I have (i.e., jiggle the wires around a little)). It happened again today, and the AC wouldn't blow cold air. After fiddling around with it for a bit, I decided to check the compressor, and saw that it was still running. I then turned the temp as high as it would go and then gradually brought it back down, which fixed it.
I know that I can pretty much fix this issue by not being lazy and actually fixing it, but I'm still curious to know what is going on and if I should be concerned. This only happens when the AC system loses power, and it is not consistent (this is the first time the AC has not blown cold air after losing power in several months).

2023.06.04 02:14 akarpy Subpanel mount

This is Washington state.
Any issues with running the feed through this knockout? Just add bushings and a metal plate to the front of the stud? I figured mounting like this is easier than adding a conduit and offsetting the subpanel.
125A subpanel, fed with 1/0 SER from a 100A breaker (future proofing a little). Will move two breakers over to accommodate the new double pole 100A.
The subpanel will eventually be fed from solar install. I plan on moving some of the circuits over from the main for battery backup. Right now it’s just for an ev charger and an electric range.
