Nen Type: Transmutation, Conjuration, Enhancement, Emission.
Hatsu: The user can transmute their aura into a facsimile of fire by transmuting their aura with heat and light. This fire acts like regular fire but is entirely aura and therefore the temperatures can be increased drastically, at the user's risk. Honestly, still don't really like any name I can think of for this.
Nen Abilities
Philosopher's Refuge "Debased Basement" Conjuration
The user conjures a large clay wine cask, like an amphora or kvevri. The conjured vessel always looks empty but has a nen space inside. Larger on the inside Tardis style but nothing crazy. A single room studio, one bath, kitchenette kinda deal. Condition - As long as the user was in Philosopher's Refuge is how long they must wait before using it again. Max stay 24 hours.
Smart For a Day "Just Jerking Myself Off" Enhancement
While the user is inside Philosopher's Refuge The can enhance their mind allowing them to think faster and generate insights more rapidly. Although not omniscient, this ability aids the user in quickly analyzing information and developing working theories based on their existing knowledge. Condition - Only works in Philosopher's Refuge. Is still incredibly aura intensive.
The two previous abilities are support only and aren't used very often except for Philosopher's Refuge which is where the user lives in between being kicked out by it.
For combat the user conjures a staff with which they can more easily use their fire transmutation by using shu and ryu. For ranged attacks their conjure lanterns. By filling these lanterns with their transmuted aura they can create different types of firebombs. This is the only way the user can emit their aura by filling them with their hands and throwing or filling as they rest on edge of the staff and using that to fling them. The lanterns are still a work in progress. At this point this ability is probably broken but it's a pet project.
Fire Burst Lantern (Transmutation): This lantern bomb, infused with intense fire aura, erupts upon impact, releasing a massive explosion of scorching flames in all directions, engulfing the area in fire.
Shrapnel Lantern (Transmutaion and Conjuration): This lantern bomb explodes into fragmentation type bomb. Infused with fire and conjured bits of clay, wood, and glass.
Lantern of Insight ( No Idea): This lantern isn't a bomb. The user conjures a regular lantern. While holding this lantern the user can discern a falsehood told within its vicinity. The flame flickers when someone lies near it. The flicker is more pronounced based on severity of lie. This idea was the basis for this whole character. If it was a regular nen ability I'd guess it would not be Transmutation but chalk this up to this users version of wishing to look young.

A dear friend (18F) of mine (19M) shared a ride with a co-worker (30M) whom I don't fully trust. She accepted only because it would save her about an hour of public transport.
When she first told me that he would drive her to her destination (he lives in that town), I said something along the lines of "errr, okay". I would have probably rode with him too if I was her, but it still irritated me a little. She noticed I wasn't happy, and told me she would take the train instead if it bothered me. At that point, I felt really toxic. We're very good friends, but I don't think I should be able to decide whom she should share a ride with. I told her it's not okay for me to forbid her anything like that. She responded that she cares about my opinion and she'd rather take the train than make me mad. Of course I told her I wasn't mad and she should take the car if she wants to.
I've been thinking about it a lot, and I can't get over the fact that I could essentially tell her not to do something, and she wouldn't do it. I don't want to have that power, because I don't think it belongs into a healthy friendship.
How can I get rid of this "power" without losing her trust? I obviously want her to care about my opinion, but not to the degree where I can decide for her.

In short: Phasmophobia meets I'm on observation duty
details: 4 player co-op, one person is on the camera feed switching between rooms, in a seperate location away from the "house" that the other 3 players will be in. this player is bound to this area and most of the function will be manning the camera feed. instead of reporting the anomalies then they just disappear, the 3 players inside the house have to work together, communicate with the person on cams to find anomalies and physically remove them and take them out of the house. rooms are dark and players have flashlight only for light. camera operator has multiple camera "filters" (normal, night vis, thermal, etc) they must flip between to detect certain entities and warn their friends inside of their presence for they may be invisible to the 3 inside. may be a good touch to have distinct rooms that require players to open doors to enter each room... the finer details would be for someone with more game developing sense to iron out but thats the jist of it. players must survive the alloted time (a full "night"), keeping the number of anomalies down while avoiding and possible directly confronting/fighting certain live entitites. maybe each of the 3 players inside can have their own unique roles/tools to encourage teamwork and communication (and also cause massive chaos)
do anyone think this is mildly interesting of an idea?
edit: also there could be 3 entities that represent the three wise monkeys: See No Evil (Removes or hinders the players on the inside's ability to see for a time, putting pressure on camera operator to guide them safely), Hear no Evil (players on the inside lose their hearing ability for a time) Speak no evil (players lose their comms for a time)

I've been browsing around this sub for a while now and I feel like I would get a lot of insight on my situation. I'm 19, turning 20 in July. As a Creative, I feel VERY restricted in my home. With the parental "my house my rules" and the only freedom basically me leaving for work. It's been TOLERABLE up until now but my mindset and expectations for myself and my future as little to no alignment to what they have for me.
Since I'm pursuing photography, I do leave the house occasionally to do photoshoots without their knowledge but mainly with friends to build my portfolio and such. Photography and Content Creation / Streaming is something that I want to pursue full time and from my research and my plan to fully dedicate myself to these things I believe it could work out.
Right now I work part time making about $1,700 a month. I just started a lease on a car for about $450 a month. My past co-worker has a place that I can move to for about $800 a month. While this sits me very close to what I am making right now, if I move with them, I'll be able to transfer locations through my workplace and switch to full time ($2200-$2800/m).
I have an $1500 emergency fund that I just built up, about $2000 saved, and I also just cleared my debt from hype spending on my credit card since I got it last year. I feel like I'm ready to move out mentally and financially as long as I keep my budget up.
Yes, realistically and through all my research it would be the best option to stay with my parents and save, but as restrictive as it is and with the plan I have laid out for myself I feel like I could do it. Is this realistic or just dramatic wishful thinking?

have been married since mid 1997. We have 2 adult children together and I also had a pre schooler when we married. We are raising our grandchild. We get on well most of the time & he's a good provider & hard worker. He had anger issues in the first 7-8 years of our marriage & was violent; not hitting me or the kids but breaking things in front of me, throwing stuff, slamming doors, disappearing for a night in anger & staying in a motel. He had counselling & is much better, but still gets moody and sometimes still throws stuff or rough handles the cat or dogs in frustration. He isn't the best at communicating & keeps his feelings hidden. I have found the idea of sex with him as unpleasant & unwanted. I just can't imagine it anymore. We haven't had sexual intimacy for 4 years and over the last 10 years, just a handful of times. We once enjoyed this aspect of our lives and it was mutually fulfilling for us both. But we are good friends and get on well. Thinking back, Ive realised that I've been drawn to certain women in my life starting at age 11 when I had a sort of crush on my year 6 teacher. Then at 20, I was unusually close to my 17 year old female friend and got weirdly jealous when she dated my older brother. I've met lots of women through the years that I was fascinated by & enjoyed their company, maybe a little too much. In 2018, I undertook a course of study and was totally enamoured with the tutor, who was female, light shoulder length hair, frosted blonde, slim, sexy and intelligent. And so funny & cute. My boyfriend (30M) and I (25F) have been together for about a year and a half. My boyfriend has a child with the woman(30F) from his previous relationship. They both try to maintain a healthy and good co-parenting relationship with one another and they accomplish this by spending holidays together at family gatherings, attending school and extra currical activies together as well as keeping an open door policy with their daughter: which means they allow her to choose who's house she wants to go to for the night or when she wants to go. I try not to involve myself too much or give my opinions on his parenting style or decisions or his relationship with the mother of their child as I feel that is not my place to do so. I'll be honest and say that it can be extremely difficult to have a relationship with someone who has a pre-established family, especially since I'm someone who does not have kids. Of course, every relationship comes with their own obstacles and this is definitely one for us because alot of the times I don't understand his decisions or what he goes through in his situation.
Recently, he informed me that his parents would like to have his daughter for the summer and they could meet up halfway to exchange her. This would be approximately a six hour drive to the meet up point and a six hour drive back. After telling him that I'm sorry he has to drive back alone, he informed me that his ex told him that she would be joining them on their drive. I feel extremely uncomfortable with this as they would be sharing a six hour drive alone back together. He tried to understand why I felt uncomfortable with this and reassure me that they are only doing this for their daughter and that her reasoning was to spend more time with her before their daughter is gone for a week or two but I still cannot help but feel uneasy about it. He had offered to tell her that she couldn't come but even that felt weird because I feel like that would make me appear controlling or insecure. At the same time, it bothers me that this wasn't something he asked me about prior to agreeing to her coming to make sure I was okay with it. It feels like there aren't boundaries there. Another part of me is slightly jealous because this feels like a family road trip for them. Now I cannot go because of work, distance, time commitment etc but it might also be awkward that the ex extremely dislikes me.
I don't know how I'm suppose to feel or how to work through my emotions on this. I don't know if how I'm feeling is even valid. Any advice?

• Rating: Magideath: 4.5/5
• All skills from skill 1 to 3 are full attack dresses. It also has a passive effect that increases the damage dealt according to the number of debuffs on all enemies.
• Since all skills are full-range attacks, the number of debuffs counts all enemies , so it shows its true value in damage run content where the target is 4 or more.
• Even in Magides, it has the potential to become the strongest in an anti-water boss that faces multiple enemies,

My Opinion:
Useful in Magideath multiple target stages for her damage, which translate to better ranking reward. But is this dress good for new/intermediate players who just want to clear the stages? I would say no. SPD DWN and ATK DWN are useful, but 30% MOV reduction is not something that worth fawning over. An above average dress for magideath, imo.
Pull advice:
New player: Worth rerolling for as you need good Aoe dress to clear most of the contents.
F2P players: If you dont have any aoe MOV manipulation dress, she is a good dress to get. So you should check your line up and future pull plan and see if it's worth spending gem on this dress.

I'm pretty sure that the majority of Barovian content creators have already seen some version of this list. I actually went back to update my original post of the list to discover that I never made my own post of it! I put together the first version of this list a couple of years ago. I'm pretty sure this is the most complete list of its kind anywhere: Alternate areas of Barovia that are commonly needed, besides the commonly published CoS specific battlemaps:
0) The (Dark) Carnival - nobody ever makes maps / assets for this, even though gobs of people always throw it in to their campaign, even though it's old as crap. I understand that there's a Carnival Realm in the new VRGtR book.. I'll probably never use the realm-carnival, but that's a second place the Dark Carnival maps/assets could be used. There are also a trio of third party Ravenloft carnival modules as well that they could be used in.
1) Battlemap sized maps of the towns. At LEAST a 5 foot per square / hex map for the tiger chase. (Obviously modern VTT platforms don't actually need the grid on the map. ;) )
2) Random shops, stables, blacksmiths and generic places the party is likely to go anyway.
3) Generic encounter locations.. country roads / rivers / bridges and combinations of the three. It sounds dumb because you can get generic encounter maps like that anywhere.. but it would be AWESOME to have matching Barovian roads and Svalitch woods on all of your encounter maps. Don't forget the specific crossroads with the gallows from CoS.. I don't recall if there were hanging cages mentioned, but you could throw in some PNG options for them.
4) A covered bridge, including the roof, deck and under views. (To tack on to the Headless Horseman add-in.) The Woodcutters hut as well.
5) Besides the Carnival, there are a few other old school modules that people like to bolt on to CoS (Adam, etc. etc.).
6) DragnaCarta, MandysMod and Pyram King have all developed alternate encounters and a handful of setting that might be able to use an alternate map here and there. (Orphanage.) In particular, I recall battles in/near the bogs, on mountain sides with/without roads and watch towers. Military and outfitter style tent interiors and exteriors and camps placed.. you know what? Make those camps be PNG assets that could be dropped in a bog, next to a river or on a mountain side as needed. ;) I recall Lunch Break Heroes making an encounter for Borgia/Borca, but I don't recall if they made any scenarios / encounters for Barovia. I got a special request for Beneath the Abbey.
7) The Interactive Tome of Strahd sends the party back in time and would be a PHENOMENAL set of maps to expand Barovia. Seriously, you could drop those on DMsGuild and make some bank. Some additionally pre-Strahd bright and shiny versions of the village of Barovia and other basic maps might be nice for some throw-back adventures.
8) Retro Castle Ravenloft.. Castle Ravenloft fully restored to its former glory! (Castle Barovia? I picture it as more of a walled garrison, looking like a giant stone bubble from a distance, but it did have at least one tower overlooking the cliff.) We know that the old pre-Strahd castle had multiple floors located in roughly the same place as Castle Ravenloft, but with significantly different floor plans, as the ghosts walk staircases and pass through doorways that don't exist anymore. :D (Important side-note: Strahd did not grow up in Castle Ravenloft. I believe that there is one (1) painting of him looking out over Yesterhill, through the mists at a vision of the castle he grew up in, but I don't think anyone has ever tackled it.)
9) The caverns and the alter area in and under the Pillarstone of Ravenloft (from Expedition to Ravenloft) are frequently added in to CoS. I've never seen a map of a hidden cavern entrance in the Svalitch woods, let alone a set of creepy Barovian caverns.. or the Castle side of the entrance, for that matter.
10) Around a decade ago, some weirdo drew an artistic image of Castle Ravenloft with the foundation bedrock rotted away under it. I'd like to see a detailed elevation map of the curtain wall and gatehouse with the bedrock still under the curtain wall, because that irritates me to no end. NOBODY would build a massive curtain wall on a questionable foundation. Reference Vlads actual castle (which is admittedly ten times smaller than Ravenloft) for a rather specific example of a (THE) castle built on the side of a cliff. As I recall, if looking at the gatehouse, the left side and back left corner of Vlads actual castle are protected by a cliff, and that's where the inspiration for Castle Ravenloft came from.
11)Speaking of elevation, at the other end of Castle Ravenloft are balconies and windows jutting out over the cliff. I'd love to see detailed maps of those areas, an 'ant sized' map of the Svalitch woods and Barovia as seen from the castle, and an elevation map of the cliff-side reaching from the Svalitch woods up past the windows and balconies to the Curtain wall. Parties occasionally decide to attempt to scale the cliff. Having a cliff and curtain wall that actually matches would be awesome.
12) Odd ball areas we never see. The druids must have huts or a village somewhere. The Roc must have a nest somewhere. The Mad Mage in Barovia has one of either a tower / cavern / pocket dimension somewhere. We could use Barovian flavored versions of all three. Oh, and the woods and encounters with said mage on the backside of the lake.. so a lake / forested area with spread out trees for players to run in terror or attempt to attack at range.. or whatever.
13) UNDER Lake Zarovich, there are a handful of generic encounters. There are also a few river monster encounters, generally near the Berez Swamp, could use a lair map and an underwater river encounter map, Barovia flavored. Speaking of Berez, I've never seen a detailed large scale swamp map for the Berez Swamp.. let alone the whole town being overrun by the swamp.
14) A proper Berez Swamp. A full sized swamp, with river banks, fields of cattail and reeds, murky backwaters, underwater groves of trees, and a couple of dozen oddly shaped islets and sandbanks.. a few dead logs.. not to mention a proper full sized assortment of Berez town ruins.
15) What's the village in the Adventurer's Guild Supplements?? Orasnou! There's a tiny village there (the size most people depict Berez as, because the CoS book doesn't describe the whole town of Berez properly). So that map is needed, along with.. 4 interior maps, if I recall? (Probably more, + a manor.) As well as an alternate werewolf lair and a few others, like a Barovian bluff, again if I recall off of the top of my head. I've had requests for the Gundarak villages Teufeldorf, Zeidenburg and Renika, as well as the other minor villages and..
16) The complete map of Barovia, post Grand Conjunction (done in standard modern style/graphics).
17) Various encounters have been depicted on Mount Baratok. Which would be a stark stone mountain, snowy and generally above the treeline, not like the hilly tree covered mountains where Argynvostholt and the Roc and etc. are located. I think a largish rocky encounter map of the mountainside would be the first needed. I (seem to) recall a three tiered monastery built on the side of a cliff, with a freshwater spring enclosed that would require an elevation map along with three small interioexterior maps showing the wooden stairs going up and down the cliff-side. I recall one encounter involving a lai small cave sized area.
18) Lots of people want Van Richtens magic shop and other stuff described in his escapades. We could also use a handful of Vistani Vardos and Camps. If I recall, there are only two described in the CoS book, but there are many more tribes of Vistani than that, and we're told that they move around frequently. If might be easier to provide PNG files for the vardos, outfitter tents and assets for a large scale camp. Come to think of it, there aren't a whole lot of tokens for those smallish horses they use either, so someone might whip up 10-12 smallish shaggy horses with unique patterns to show off. They don't care one ounce for a horses pedigree, and are more than happy to keep unique looking mongrel horses as their personal caravan animals. They use mountain horse stock when breeding their horses, so they would be a bit hairier and stockier then say an Arabian.. just scaled closer to a pony size. Donkey size! They're donkey sized horses. :D ..real donkey size, if I recall 5e has some weirdness going on with their official donkey/wagon sizes that makes no sense at all for Vardos sized horses and wagons like the Vistani would have.
19) The valley where the village of Barovia is located is described as a massive fertile farming area, yet we never see any medieval farms, ranches, graineries or farmers markets for Barovia. Definitely need a few of those. Barovian farmers and ranchers would SPECIFICALLY all have the buildings that (in the real world) later became fortifications, Thick werewolf proof walls and heavily barricaded doors everywhere. No window on the ground floor. Livestock was housed indoors, in enclosed courtyards with family areas wrapped around them, or with the animals on the ground floor and the family living above on the second floor. Horse stalls and farrowing areas would be fenced off within the area. Graineries would be large round wooden buildings with barricaded doors and sturdy out-buildings. 10 foot tall max, today's 4-5 story tall graineries are a modern invention. There would probably be a large stone community grainery far on the other side of the valley from the Village of Barovia. for that matter, there ought to be a functioning grainery or warehouse somewhere between the Village of Barovia and Bonegrinder. ALSO, if Bonegrinder is no longer being used as a mill, there would HAVE to be another windmill or waterwheel driven mill somewhere else in Barovia. Many artists have envisioned a water-wheel grainery on the River Ivlis near the Village of Barovia. Corn cribs would be on the second floor of a barn for drying grain, doubling up to dry bales of hay, not primarily as a hay loft. PNGs for 2-3 styles of fencing and gates, water troughs, and some medieval horse drawn plows and rakes would be nice. Dog kennels!! Every farm would probably have it's own horse pasture or rink with a training post, and a dog kennel or run for dogs to run during the day. You know those giant mastiffs that the Barovian nobles are so fond of? Yeah, the farmers in the fertile valley near Barovia would be the only ones rich enough to be able to afford to raise those pups for the nobles. Somewhere out here would be a medieval rancher set up to raise mastiff puppies with an assortment of full grown mastiffs. Mongrel pups or runts would be sold off to neighboring farms at a discount. Roaming wolves would stay FAR away from them, and werewolf packs would likely attack them for any reason at all (if they could find a way in to the basin). I picture a LARGE farmers market and stockyards just inside the River Ivlis bridge of the Valley of Barovia. We know that Barovia is a trade center.. so there MUST be one. The bridge would offer protection if needed, and it would be the closest place farmers and ranchers could set up to provide commerce with the other villages and domains and still have the protection of being inside the gates. Hmm.. they might have a dirt race track there for showing off horses going up for sale. Make that very probably, The Vistani/Romani are famous for defending their mountain horses at the drop of a hat. This would be the main place of commerce for farmers goods in Barovia. This is (the main area) where Vistani Caravans would import and export farm goods in to and out of Barovia.
20) There would absolutely be homestead (small) sized farms and ranches carved out up in mountain valleys or even on mountain sides facing south. In fact, a south facing mountain side might get enough sunlight to raise delicate crops, spices and herbs, whereas most of Barovia can't, due to the mists blocking the sunlight. Also, a couple of mountain pastures with matching rocks / trees bordering them would be nice. Honestly though, if you pass out some rock and tree assets that match the ones you already use, anybody could throw together their own mountain pastures, or even their own valley pastures. Rows of crops are hard to find though! You could easily have scenarios of wolves/werewolves hunting the party in a cornfield.. but there are no Barovian cornfield battlemaps. ACTUALLY, I don't think I have any battlemap sized crop assets, and I probably have the largest collection of map assets around. You could probably sell these farming assets/maps on DriveThruRPG and DMsGuild as well, I've never seen them anywhere. ..OR you might ask Forgotten Adventures or Tom Cartos to throw some together, whatever seems clever. :) I've been asked specifically to try to get Yaedrag (barbarian-esque village in the mountains that Dragna wrote up) made up.
21) Jenny Greenteeth's Hut.. perhaps a grove of her untainted trees from the Quivering Forest? (Also the Glumpen Swamp and Vanishing Hills, various locations within these.) I picture the Quivering Forest loaded with fruit and nut trees and songbirds fighting for real estate (the text mentions angry squirrels).. surrounded by classic Svalitch Woods half-dead spooky trees. ;) I recall seeing a couple of versions that roughly followed the description given in DDAL04, but they're just a hut, not the whole barrow surrounding her hut as described. Additionally, many artists have upscaled her hut to be a small trading post, and put it on wooden poles, swamp style (never seen a battlemap of it, though). Lots of room for creative renditions there. :)
22) Another thing that I haven't seen ANYBODY making is small abbeys. The hills and mountains of Barovia are said to be littered with small abbeys. ..some of them abandoned, some not.
23) Abandoned mansions and manors. Strahd massacred the noble families of Barovia for their involvement in his father's murder. There is one legend of a nobleman possessed by a demon that Strahd left alive, as a curse 'worse than death'. At any rate, there ought to be a handful of abandoned / haunted mansions and manors dotting the Barovian countryside for the party to stumble in to (or check out due to a hook dropped by an informative villager).
24) There are currently NO mines in the CoS version of Barovia.. bizarre for a mountain country. It would suit that some of those decimated noble families ran some mines that have since been abandoned. Of course, it wouldn't do to host your standard monsters in a Barovian mine. I'm thinking Lair of the White Worm. Something more horrifying than dungeoneering.
25) It's been mentioned that instead of murdering the losers from the werewolf trials, they might be shipped off to be slaves in a mine, or to a plantation in the swamp. The plantation would be stick construction, as you would expect in a swamp, they would collect tubers and reeds that grow in the swamp, not traditional plantation type crops.
26) The various Barovian villages NOT included on Schleys map of (Central) Barovia usually have a town sized map plotted out and published somewhere, but no really decent overview maps or battlemap sized maps of them exist. (This need might easily be filled by a couple of handfuls of generic Barovian village buildings, field-stone and dirt street assets, and sundry village constructions.
27) Besides the Gates of Barovia, there are supposed to be watch-towers dotting the landscape as well. An operational watchtower and a couple of partially ruined ones would be awesome.

Assets nobody has made like the Dark Carnival and lake/river encounters and the Mad Mages various lair options would be the most needed. I simply don't understand why EVERY CoS map developer doesn't provide matching roads, forests, rivers and generic shops with matching Barovian assets. The maps I mentioned which you could make money selling on DriveThruRPG and DMsGuild (to me) would just be silly NOT to make. ...Van Richtens magic shop is requested a LOT. When the party first enters Barovia, I can picture them being chased in to a fortified farm by a pack of dire wolves / werewolves at dusk (perhaps the first couple of farms won't unbarricade their doors). I'm sure you can see the utility of the rest. Will everybody need a Roc nest on a cliff above the forest? No. Will DMs derail their campaign for a minute just for the opportunity to make the party loot a Roc nest? Yes. :
Finally, I would note that since I wrote this list, a few cartographers have added some of the above locations to their Library, but the vast majority of these are as of yet, untouched. :)

Hey all. I have a small townhome in the Denver area, and the HVAC and "lowboy" gas water tank are/were in the crawlspace. My 22-year-old water tank finally quit over Memorial Day weekend, but not before spraying water from the hose onto the black plastic tarp I had covering the dirt floor of the crawlspace.
I had a remediation company come out, and luckily, the water damage was minimal and did not require much mitigation. A new tankless water heater was also installed. ( I had already been working with a contractor for this upgrade, knowing it was coming).
I filed an insurance claim, and received a quote to have a professional vapor barrier (white, 12 mil.) installed over the dirt and WALLS of the space by tge remediation co. This would involve removing the pink insulation that was already covering the walls. The restoration team confirmed there was no water damage to the existing installation, but the tankless installation team did have to move it out of the way a little bit on one side to install the new unit. They didn't bother adjusting it back.
The quote from the remediation company said the vapor barrier would also cover the concrete walls in place of the pink insulation and would therefore act as insulation.
I can't find any definitive information on this process, but was wondering if anyone agrees that a vapor barrier can act as insulation in lieu of the pink batts? Are there any other questions I should be asking, or anything else to be mindful of? We're hoping to wrap up this project soon. Appreciate the help.

My husband (33) and I (32) been married for 5 years and have two kids with another on the way. We make decently good money HHI $300k but we haven't been in this money for that long and we did put our the vast majority of our savings for a down payment on a house.We are also in a period of time with high childcare cost. I also have low six-figure student loan debt and we each have car loans. I would like not to deal with debt our entire life.
My SIL (30) makes over $180k for a few years now. Supposedly, her partner's family has money and he is of similar age and earning potential.
My husband paid for his sister's masters program. We only spent less than 10k including everything even accommodation for our own wedding in part because he was paying her not cheap tution. She doesn't recognize how much he sacrifice to do so. It's not expected that she will pay that back and I am fine with that. Most was spent when were dating and not that much after marriage.
When we got married we had a smallish reception in India because his parents wanted it. My SIL didn't come because she wanted to start her internship during the holiday season.(Although, we spent 1k on a non-refundable ticket for her). He co-signed and paid the down payment for a loan - when we had no money and a bay on the way without really asking. She didn't realize autopay was off a ended degrading his credit score right when we were home shopping so our mortgage rate is higher than it would've been otherwise and will be for years to come.
She is now getting married. My husband gets off the phone with his mom and says we need to sell out investments to give at least $10k for his sister's wedding. We have budget about $7k already for plane tickets to attend ( at least him and two kids- I might go but I will be 3 months post-partum and I am not sure about bringing a newborn on a 24+ hour travel adventure---- another reason why I am the bad guy )
Well anyways,. I refused for him to give that money. I said she didn't ask and doesn't need it . She is old enough to have saved or plan something within budget that parties can afford without him contributing. Apparently, the wedding will be more than 1,100 people. He says why do I hate his family and it's tradition for him to help pay. I told him that he has obligation to his family - his kids. He says I am too money minded and selfish. I said that it is not fair to spend most of our disposable income for thr year on his sister. That his sister is a grown woman and he has already contributed enough to her life. This wedding is a want and not a need. I also pointed out that he wants to spend more money on his sister's wedding than he did even on his own.We will have three young children and our own debts. The economy is not stable and we cannot deplete our savings for his sister. Am I the asshole for refusing?

I just got the game last week and have been playing a lot. I’m pretty familiar with how the game works but I need some serious tips for HvV because I’ve just been playing supremacy and co-op to level up my people because HvV is hectic to say the least. I use bossk and have been getting a lot of kills with him but I can’t seem to get the hang of the lightsaber hero’s. I know how the blocking and stuff works but it seems like people somehow maneuver around my blocks and stuff. Any tips from you guys would be great ty.
Side note: I have been getting message spammed by squads and stuff a lot the last couple days playing HvV. Is this a normal thing in this game where I have to turn off my messages or is this just bad coincidence? I just wanna know from everyone’s perspective because I’m not tryna turn off my messages cause I still wanna be able to receive messages. I’ve rarely experienced this in another online game and it’s happened multiple times very quickly and it’s just annoying getting message spammed while trying to play LOL.

I'm curious to know how common this is as lifelong strategy: doing whatever it takes to not draw attention to yourself. Essentially, you mask just enough to be "accepted", but not striving to achieve a higher social status because then you'd stand out. Not accomplishing the goal of bare minimum acceptance would also make you stand out but for different reasons.
For example, as a child other kids would make comments that I was weird. I didn't like this negative attention and so I tried to find ways to make myself appealing. The only thing that really worked for me was humor. I was the class clown. I learned to make fun of myself so that other kids didn't have to. It worked. I was never "in" with any crowd. I wasn't a jock, or a cheerleader, or a popular girl. I wasn't even part of the "nerdy" group. It was always just me on the periphery, an acceptable acquaintance.
As an adult, I worked low level jobs. I did not strive for promotions or jobs that required too much responsibility. And definitely not management or supervisory positions, even if I was qualified. Because there are too many things that can go wrong when you're responsible for other people, and since I didn't have friends or family for support there was no way I was taking chances. I wanted to keep my jobs for as long as possible.
But I still only did the bare minimum. I went to work events because not showing up would draw attention to me. I said "yes" when co-workers asked me out to lunch because if I said "no" every time it would look like I wasn't a "team player". Otherwise, I just tried to keep my head down and not make too many mistakes (which was hard), so that I could keep my job. That seemed to work for at least a year or two, until they caught on that my work was slow because I paid too much attention to detail.
My husband says he had a similar experience in school. He's now a software engineer and has worked at the company for 12 years. He's been offered numerous promotions for management, but he has turned them all down because he doesn't want to supervise others. So that got me wondering if other people use this strategy too.
