I’m about to turn 45 and I’m still single. I’ve never been married or engaged or lived with a significant other. I’ll admit that I backed off a bit from dating in my 30s to focus on myself. Although I did still date and was always very open to a relationship, I just never met anyone that I felt that interested in, or if I did, I would end up being ghosted or something awful like that which would break my heart and I would stop trying for long stretches of time… just seeing the dating apps on my phone would make me feel nauseous. I really just wanted to meet someone in real life and I had a lot of hobbies and friends and interests, but never seem to meet anyone IRL.
These days I feel so terribly lonely. At my age pretty much all of my friends are married with multiple children, and they are so busy and focused on that they don’t have time to talk to or hang out with me. I know that they love me and care about me, but time is such a precious commodity and it doesn’t seem like I am worthy of it when they have so many other things taking up their time. Which I completely understand. It’s just hard because I want to hang out with friends and I don’t really have anyone to hang out with. I want so badly to talk and connect with people. But I’m not sure how to meet people my age that would want to hang out and be social. I try to plan social events with my friends, but no one is ever available. I’ll send texts to like 10 friends saying “hey wanna hang out and do something fun this weekend” and not a single person is able to.
I recently met someone I had an immediate connection with. It was amazing and it was mutual. I can’t even describe how good it felt. But now it’s been five days and I haven’t heard from them at all, either they’re ghosting me or something horrible has happened and they’re in the hospital. But I know the reality is I’m probably being ghosted. It hurts so much. I thought something good and exciting had finally happened and I was so ready for it. I was so ready to put everything into this relationship and make it work. I want so badly to be in a relationship after 15 years of being single. I’m ready for it, I’ve had tons of therapy, I’ve read tons of relationship books, I just want to be given a shot to try with someone. I desperately don’t want to go back on the dating apps. I hate the dating apps. I seriously think I have trauma from them and when I try to log on, I just get shaky and nauseous. No one appeals to me, I pretty much swipe left on everyone. But I don’t know how to meet people any other way. And I just want to be able to talk this out with a friend and I don’t have anyone available to even come over and hang out with me because everyone’s busy with their kids on a Sunday. I just feel left behind.
Does anyone else experience this? Has anyone found a solution? I just have absolutely no idea what to do. It’s part of the work that I do to understand the health impacts of things like loneliness… I know that chronic loneliness can have the same negative health effect of being a pack a day smoker. I don’t want to be this lonely, but I don’t know how to fix it. Thank God for my amazing dog who keeps me company. She’s snuggled up with me right now. But I want a human friend, I wanna human relationship. It doesn’t help that my dog is a rescue who is completely terrified of other humans and dogs, we’re working on it, but it means I can’t even go out and do yappy hours or dog owner networking events. I’m just wracking my brain trying to think of what to do and I think I’m out of ideas.
I think the most dangerous part is the anger and resentment. I look around me and I see people in relationships, but I honestly don’t understand why them and not me. Other people make it seem so easy, but I just seem to fail every time. I don’t want to be bitter but I can’t help but be pretty bitter at this point.
Sorry for the rant. I’d honestly much rather be ranting to a friend but since I don’t have this option, I figured I would try it here.

When I try to start the game, it crashes on startup with a white rectangle in the top left, and the window is named "dx11 (cooked) (not responding)". Sometimes I get to the title screen but when the game receives any input, it crashes.

Hey folks. I'm a gay, 30 year old, single, chill, handsome, friendly jock. I live in a very rural area, so there’s really no opportunity to meet gay people for hookups, dates, or a community. I’m trying to move to a more urban area, but in the meantime I truly feel like I’m missing out on gay friend connections where we can just talk about anything. About life, interests, sports, struggles, but also about gay stuff like hot guys, muscles, insane butts, fantasies, whatever. Maybe it’s stupid, but sometimes I wish I could just have those open conversations with another gay jock who isn’t creepy. Just looking for 25+ too and don’t want anyone reaching out with anything creepy.
I’m not sure if asking for this is weird, but figured I’d ask if this is the place to find that, or somewhere else. I go to the gym 4x a week and play several sports regularly. To be honest, it's kinda hard to find a chill and sane connection, but hopefully can find something.
Where can I find something like this? Many guys out there seem to want to talk about things outside of these interests, and not able to hold a conversation. I'm just looking for a bud that I can vibe with but also just have a bond where we can share these types of experiences in a safe space. I am helping my son study for his Network+. We like Deon's practice tests and after he finishes a practice test, I like to go over the incorrect questions and review with him. I often find it tedious going through each question as the UI isn't inducive to copy pasting. So I created the below JavaScript snippet you can paste in your console to append a 'Copy Question" button to make copying the questions more friendlier. Note, I tested this on Deon's Network+ and A+ practice tests, not sure about the others but I imagine it will work with the others as well. Doesn't work perfect with multiple question options but at least it'll copy the questions and answers for you.

On a souvent droit à de bons conseil pour nous aider à aller mieux. Ceux-ci sont légitimes mais je dois être un cas désespéré parce que rien n'a marché avec moi:
-Je n'avais pas de perspective d'avenir donc j'ai surmonté tous les obtacles (pauvreté, solitude) pour obtenir mes diplômes.
-mon métier ne me plaisait pas alors j'ai repris des études et j'ai changé de carrière.
- J'ai suivi une thérapie afin d'améliorer mon comportement et de soigner mes démons.
-J'ai fait du sport et perdu du poids pour améliorer ma santé et ma silouhette
-J'ai pardonné (à tort), et je me suis ouverte aux autres
-je sors, je me bouge, je fais des activités intéressantes etc...

Mais rien n'y fait, je n'ai pas un seul ami (juste des gens qui me parlent parfois... surtout parce que je suis la seule à les écouter). J'ai passé mon dernier anniversaire seule, malgré quelques SMS appel qui m'ont fait chaud au coeur. Je n'ai plus de copain et mes trois dernières relations on été des catastrophes qui font qu'aujourd'hui, je me sens juste rejetée.
J'ai déjà posté ici vis-à-vis de mes idées noires et j'ai globalement eu une vie difficile.
Aujourd'hui, j'en viens à verser une larme à chaque fois que je fais une activité qui me plait parce que je n'ai personne avec qui partager ça. Honnêtement, j'ssaye de m'accrocher à la vie mais je n'arrive pas à trouver de raison de me lever le matin.
